I have a 10turn pot for tuning I still need the 2 buttons to cover the band I changed the wiring so I can jump up or down 100kc with out been at the end of the pot run I don't have a PC so my bitx

Not if you replace the stock 1-turn tuning pot by a 10-turn pot. Then you can tune over a wide range and you won't need the "anti-galopping" mod involving two extra buttons. 73 Allard PE1NWL

I would recommend three right off the bat. You'll need one for push-to-talk. I strongly recommend just doing the galloping VFO fix with +/- tune buttons right away. Tuning the BITX 40 can be tricky
