Newer members sometimes ask questions that have been answered years earlier
because they have not read over all the archives, or they have not performed an
adequate search on the topic.? Topic creep is a contributor because it makes it
nearly impossible to search for topics that have been posted "off-topic" and thus can
not be located in the search process.?

..for your patient response. It is sometimes tempting to berate people
who re-ask the same question that has already been answered here dozens
(hundreds?) of times. This list is particularly bad about subject creep
and searching here is almost useless. We can hardly blame new people if
they can't find the previous replies. Having a wide, international
membership with language barriers can also contribute.
The VFO (actually the calibration to the crystal master clock) and the
BFO were both off on my V3. It took a little effort but when it's right
everything works well.

Make sure your raduino is not one pin out on the main board. There are 16 pins and 17 holes. As you face the radio, the furthest left-hand pin goes into the furthest left-hand hole. If together with your other problems, you can¡¯t transmit, this might be the cause.

Hi Gary,
When you say "incorrectly wiring it" do you mean you plugged it in shifted over so that the pins and socket were incorrectly aligned? Or did you have to rewire everything for the new enclosure?
I have been very concerned about plugging it in right when I have to unplug it. I cannot remove my uBitx from my homebrewed steel enclosure without unplugging the Raduino and extracting it first. I made the box *small* for portable operation :) Reassembly of course requires plugging it back in those tight confines.

It appears to me that your rig is coming up in transmit. I would take a look at the line for the CW key. Maybe something is not right with the 4.7k resistor that is supposed to be connected, or maybe that line is open. I was able to duplicate your problem by holding down the CW key and powering on.?

Hi,
Those toroids are said to be "self-shielding". It is difficult to get signals coupled into or out of them except by the windings that are actually on the core. But not impossible. Was it Raj who told us that he already tried shielding and it didn't make much difference. The fact it made a little difference (non zero) says that maybe the toroidal inductors are subjected to intense fields. The small inductors might be reducing the exposure and thus the bad consequences.
On my bench I have had to resort to placing a turn or two through a donut core to couple enough signal into test/measurement gear to get a reading. Sometimes holding a tertiary inductor in just the right position and angle worked - and sometimes not. So position might be important to this success. The self shielding feature of the toroids is a very large factor.

I would actually give it a try myself - but as I do not have a spectrum
analyzer, I would not be able to find out if it did help or not.
Of course changing them to SMD inductors is easier - but this way the
high Q toroids could be preserved.

Raj, indeed I did not reply to anything. Acknowledged you have two boards with stock 560nH L5 and L7 and there was no significant change. I will see to find at a local store both values (560 and 680) in SMD format. According to the circuit description the filter is around 500 ohm

L5 and & on two board stock values was around 560nH.. they needed two
more turns and that did not
help much. These filters are 650 Ohms IMHO.
The sample book had no 720uH so the nearest I took 680nH. Make
do!

All you have to do is tune to the frequency that you want to boot to and the switch between VFO A and B
This saves the new freq into A. Switch back to VFA A.. next power up your VFO A choice will be default.
