Oh I think i get the process really well and plan todo it once I get my radio back from my friend who is making a case for it. I have a hot air re flow station so the process is less then daunting.I was just hoping for completed pictures as a reference. That being said if need be in a week or 2 I can take them my self. I need to get an attenuator for my speccy so I can test responses and such as well. Hmm. So I think my main question is, In the picture on the wiki I am re-routing all the wires in the RED circled area? Sadly the English does not seem to be 100% clear and makes me want to believe i need to rip out all the blue as well?On Mon, Sep 17, 2018 at 8:10 PM, Kees T <windy10605@...> wrote: Here are some pictures of uBITX LPF relay area with all the parts removed for "delete/add" markup. |

You might add the "Triumvirate Skonk Worx" group's website where we have lots of info, software and alternate stuff for the uBITX as well. ??? W0EB

Re: EMI ferrites 'raduino' and 'audio' connectors
Definitely the 16 pin connector on the bottom of the Raduino should NOT go through any kind of ferrite "brick". ?At least not the end where the clock signals are brought out. ?I tried doing this once using a long "stackable" ?male-female header to allow all pins to pass through a ribbon cable EMI Ferrite block I had on hand. ?The Ferrite EMI filter (unknown mix but probably type 43) attenuated the clock signals to the point where the uBITX did not receive or transmit at all.? I put the cylindrical "snap on" ferrites for coax on both the digital wires coming from the Raduino and the Audio wires coming from the main board with very little effect on any RFI. ?I only had type 43 ferrites though and perhaps if type 31 "snap on" Ferrites could be found they might produce better results. Ubitx LCD 1602 Problem
#ubitx-help
Hi to everyone.
I bought the Ubitx and finished the ND6T rf agc and the?N6CMY copy of the Q70. I made the UR4CRG/RX3ARG modification.? I added the 47Ohms before the 5v Regulator and a small radiator to it. BUT the lcd screen displays now only?the right half of the screen, the other one is completly clear. I resoldered all the board pins in case of... I have the KD8CEC firmware in a separate arduino that i changed with the original one but no change.? The lcd worked nicely before. Any fix before to change it with another one please?? Very thanks for your help. 73s de CN8LI/Said. |
Re: EMI ferrites 'raduino' and 'audio' connectors
I have no doubt that for the 'audio' large connector should not have negative effects. My concern is the large raduino connector as it has the clk1,2,3 wires, ie the oscillators. In my opinion these wires should not go through the EMI ferrite brick. Il 18/set/2018 13:38, "M Garza" <mgarza896@...> ha scritto:

As I have stated multiple times, this fixed display and PTT issues for me.? I have not trimmed the wires, since I am not done tinkering.? I have not seen any negative effects, only positive. 73s, Marco - KG5PRT? On Tue, Sep 18, 2018, 1:49 AM iz oos <and2oosiz2@...> wrote:

Re: UBITX Q90 mod with BFR106
I'm sorry Nick, I found a couple of 2N2222a's in an old PCB and have now fitted the next stage and tested it also.
Plus I have used a different core for T8. The effect really of the 470pF / 8R2 is to make the gain rise with frequency. I have the 2N222a stage fitted and? have checked the gain, with Allison's mods and also with and without the peaking coil she added. I have to go out for a while now, but if I get a chance later, I will lift C84 and try to check as you request. Below are my results. The peaking coil fitted was 2.2uH as i don't have any 2.7uH specified.?? The effect is small though, about 0.5dB lift.? The gain from 20M to 10M is running out of steam as you can see. Tested with sig gen in at 7mVrms. Measured output of the 2N2222a stages is across the following 100R as load. No other parts fitted from next stage. glenn vk3pe |

JackAl System Preview
Jack Purdum
All:
As some of you know, Al Peter (AC8GY) and I have been working on a display replacement for the ?BITX for quite some time. We have a preview video that gives an overview of the JackAl system. There are some software hiccups in the preview that should be fixed soon. We just sent Rev 4.0 off to the PCB fabricator which should be the final version of the board. All SMD's are on the board. JackAl makes use of either 5" or 7" 800x480 displays ($34-$44) using the Teensy 3.6 microcontroller ($30) and its companion audio board.($14) for the DSP. The Teensy has 1Mb of flash memory and 256K of SRAM, or which we are using less than 20% and 15%, respectively. We have also brought out a dozen "empty" pins for you to experiment with so, along with the I/O pins, there plenty of resources left to play with. BTW, pay particular attention to the ALS Tuning it uses. It really makes it so much easier to zero in on a station. Details are in the video, but if questions remain, let us know. C81 = 470pF, R83 = 8R2.Hi Glen, when i changed my radio to the BFR i noiced that the gain was down quiet a lot in the lower freq, so i put these 2 back to origional spec. Can you test this stage too with origional C81 and R83. Man, I so want to get a SA with tracking generator... looks like you guys are having so much fun! 73 Nick. |

Good day to you. I've been monitoring these discussions since they started trying to get my head round all the implications, just keeping my head down,?
I've now put my tin hat on.
?
From the start you commented about the gain distribution and that the second mixer was overdriven, I've been trying to get my mind around the required
signal levels. You mentioned that increasing the audio improved the carrier suppression but are now using an external modulator and separate oscillator,??
Can I run some signal possible levels by you, from the reading I've been doing it seems to be recommended that the other signal level into the DBM is no?
more than 10db below the oscillator injection level. Using that figure and working the levels both ways from the 12MHz to 45MHz mixer gives these results.

If these figure are anyway near correct it would seem that the 12MHz TIA could be bypassed completely if the audio level is raised some..

Obviously the work around the filters and leveling the gain of the driver and output stages will also need to be done.? Just incase the table get corrupted I've attached it in picture form.

i Tim, I believe Alyson has already cut up her board and can¡¯t really help you.
To a point I have.? That whole corner with relays was separated from the rest to evaluate ground loops and layout.? However I have enough info on the wiki and pictures as well. I can also still answer questions on that so I can fill in what may be missing for some. Allison |
