Re: A simple VOX control circuit for the BitX-40 to allow it to be used for FT-8
Hi John, Interesting simple design. You could probably get away without the isolator or extra SSR, just connect the base of a transistor to the op-amp output and you'd be good to go. I went with a

Re: antenna tuner for uBitx
THe ZM-2, 4Sqrp, SLT, and L-tuner all work. Personally the 4sqrp, L-tuner, SLT, and Elecraft T1 are in use here for power up to 10W and do the job for multiple QRP radios.  For higher power I have a

Re: 13.8 v power supplies safe for bitx?
OK Great info so what size fuse?  What is the maximum safe current for the circuit? Thanks

Re: Replacement vfo
Richard, Since you didn't get a reply, perhaps it was me. In 2016 I built a vfo for the BITX40 using an AD9850, a Nano, and a 1602 I2C display. Shortly after I posted on BITX Hacks Farhan announced

Re: antenna tuner for uBitx
Dave, Are you sure the ZM-2 has air variables? Based on the pictures at their site it sure looks like they use poly-type variables caps as well. I also question their claim that they can tune

ESP8266 or ESP32 Raduino Alternatives?
I just got my uBitX, and I plan to only do the longevity and reliability fixes before starting to use it. While reading up on them, I noticed some threads/pages about Raduino replacements involving

Re: antenna tuner for uBitx
Love the Emtech ZM-2, it is my go to for 15w or less. I also use the older version of the Z-11 LDG (LDG QRP) and it works pretty good. After looking at the 4-State tuner if you are a new builder it

Re: RD16HHF1 power curve flattening...some
Nik, Agree with Lawrence here as I had feedback issues too on the higher frequency bands. I could minimise the feedback by using a better shielded microphone, but the issue would still be there on

Re: two-tone test on ubitx
Henning, I used 40db of padding between the ubitx and the SA, 30db in an external pad and 10db inside the SA. Based on this the total power output of the ubitx was 10watts average, 5watts in each of

Re: Voltage/Waveform chart?
I should add that it would also be a lot of work! You could combine the graphics with some theory and make an ebook or YouTube. And charge for an ebook, like SAMS did. One of the author guys maybe.

A simple VOX control circuit for the BitX-40 to allow it to be used for FT-8
As promised, I uploaded the description of the simple VOX interface ( /g/BITX20/files/BitX%20Digital%20Interface.pdf ) between my PC and the BitX-40 that I've been using for FT-8. I

I prefer the Weller soldering station ... But I think that would be a fantastic idea. If I understand correctly. Like the old SAMS schematic series.  For a constant tone mic input interface circuit

Re: antenna tuner for uBitx
I think that is a good choice. I like the Emtech ZM-2 one better as it has air variables whereas the 4SQRP one uses poly variables. I am old fashioned and just like the larger "tougher" air
