Further: the Pi can be a good Operating console too. Its OS (by default) is a variation of Debian Linux, so there's a wealth of software for Hams in the repository. True, it doesn't do the DB9/25 I/O

I'm sure there is a less mystical answer to this. I still think its something to do with software as it was working perfectly in a BIXT40 before I put the header in it so as to use it for a uBITX.

Hey Mike, I know why it didn't work, it doesn't glow in the dark:-) No seriously folks, that's a bummer. The TDA2822M's speaker output is not referenced to ground and must be isolated from ground.
