The uBitx does not need to be powered to upload the firmware. The Arduino nano will power itself from the USB 5V when connected to the computer for uploading. -Neil N0FN

I did that twice. The best investment I have made in a long time is an 40 watt soldering iron with a built in solder sucker. Worked really well for removing the nano I love it.
