Jack,

I keep trying to retire. I swear the third time must be the charm. I could be good at retirement.?

Ok on hardware, coming back was fun. Software that was 25 to 50 years ago (yes software at hp in 1967), So hope to join the new millennium now. LOL

If I ever run across the guidance couselor that told me electronics was the wave of the future when I was in high school 50 years ago I would punch him in the nose...hi hi..I learned that it takes years of education and training to become an electronics engineer, but no training what so ever to be an electronics engineer's boss. so after 40 years of below average wages I retired. so it looks like we had similar experiences.
My boss whose mission was to keep wages down and 'evaluate performance' even though he had no experience at it, made twice as much as I did.

-6dB points: 9.997667MHz and 10.000107MHz (2.44kHz wide)

-60dB points: 9.991216MHz and 10.002573MHz

BFO frequency: 9.998000MHz

From what I have read I think the current BFO frequency is a little low and it should be around (9.998887MHz + 2.5kHz) so 10.001387MHz.
Would it also work if I set the frequency to (9.998887 - 2.5kHz) so 9.996387MHz, I think it may be easier to lower the BFO frequency rather than raise it.

My receiver is going to be working on the 40m band, so I need to be getting the lower side band when listening, assuming I am just tuning via a capacitor or potentiometer driven VFO (have not decided yet) would it matter which of the two frequencies I chose as the BFO frequency as when tuning the lower side band signal would pass through the crystal filter's pass band at some point and so beat against this frequency?

Selecting the correct BFO frequency

Hi Guys, could someone tell me what I would have to do to change my VFO frequency from the normal 4.7-5.0 mhz to 19.0-19.3 mhz. on my bitx40 rig. I'm using Allards ver 1.27.2 at this time but I would like to go on the high side of my IF to rid it of a nasty birdie at 7.2mhz. I remember back many weeks ago there was a bunch of threads having to do with this issue so if it already exists please help me locate the info. I'm still trying to learn the digital side of this thing so I'm not real good at processor mods. Thanks for the help:::Dale?

I'd second variable power, and perhaps a 50 ohm 50 milliwatt pickoff point and/ or mode for driving transverters.

HNY Scott ka9p - first uBITX QSO yesterday - very nice :)

This is what I'm using on Helena's BITX40:

I got it because I saw someone who had it in a bitx40 already recommend it. I was able to take the 12v battery's input and easily convert it to 24v on the dot for the finals. I left it hooked up to a 12v current for an hour and came back and measured it several times to make sure it didn't stray. It stayed right on.

So, it might be a good candidate for the ubitx.

Hi Jack,

Nice GT-550!

Yes I got quite addicted while cleaning out storage about 8 years ago.? Restored about 90 radios before shifting back to modern gear.??
Building stuff is still my favorite.

I can't tell you how much the uBITX reminds me of my SBE SB-33 (SF-1) like the one on my QRZ page with the matching linear.
