Re: Recommend a 10-turn pot for allards raduino #bitx40help #parts
Probably work fine, I have not tried one. I believe some have reported success with a 100k pot, though I would probably choose a 10k version, same as the pot from hfsigs. Plenty of 10k up on ebay too.

Re: Strange tuning problem on BitX-40
Seems the Raduino is mostly working. Could be his main computer has some issue with getting that serial monitor to work. Dumping readings to the LCD might be more reliable.

Re: Strange tuning problem on BitX-40
I suspect there may be some hardware issue on the Raduino board. You should at least get something out on the serial monitor. That would certainly be a great pity. Why not order a new raduino and give

I have uploaded the test sketch Allard and followed your instructions. A window does indeed pop up. It is empty. Nothing further happens! I should mention that last night I bit the bullet and with a

Re: Strange tuning problem on BitX-40
Try the sketch attached, which sends the analog reading from the tuning pot to the serial monitor for trouble-shooting purposes. (this is the only addition, for the rest it's identical to v1.27.2.)

My version of code has a tuning indicator on the second line. I managed to make 16 characters in to 80 columns and display the pot position. Dropbox link

As Raj has noted previously, R141 is working very hard there and tends to overheat. Check it by putting an ohmmeter across it with power to the board off, if you see much more than 10 ohms it needs to

Re: Strange tuning problem on BitX-40
Would be interesting to hack the script to display the analog reading from the tuning pot pin on the second line. Might try adjusting the script to move the tuning pot to some other analog pin.

Jerry, Raj, Thanks for the feedback. I will try going back to an earlier version and see if that changes things as that is easiest change. Will then try removal of the 100pf and finally moving antenna

Re: Is my BitX output stable?
I'm with Allard (hard to imagine how this is firmware related) and Raj (most likely the BPF at L1,2,3). Though conceivable that the 100pf cap has something to do with it. Is it possible it was there
