Re: BITX40 Sensitivity

Really cool one! I have just ordered the 30mhz vesion.
I am new to this things?
I have got an computer oscilloscope "Picoscope 2208" with limited signal generator functionality
I guess you inject signal directly to BITX antenna from very low output to higher output to see when the bitx detects the signal...

Re: Tuning clicks

I tried Joel's cure, it didn't work for me. However, in my random stumblings I came across the (extra) 100nF cap as supplied with my kit being used wiper-to-ground on a (10k 10t) tuning pot. My kit was supplied with 100k pot for tuning, and I figured that higher impedance could use the bypassing ... Guess what, no more clicks! and side-benefits fare more stable display, easier to follow turning of pot with displayed freq, and incredibly less static. It's almost hard for me to discern that the rig is receiving until I pinch the toroid - I'll have to check if there's any activity this evening :). Progress! Will be looking at Tx soon at this rate ... Will have to see if I can borrow (the use of?) an antenna analyzer locally. My ~40M OCF is 'by guess and by God', with a kludge-feed of 300-ohm TV ribbon and balun-plug (yeccch! That'll need an upgrade!).

Tnx Jack, i?m downloading those articles right now

See if these two attached articles help. The first discusses encoders in general and then gives a menuing example. The second discusses my Fast Tune code which more directly applies to your needs.

Can anyone tell me how can I replace the tuning pot for a rotary encoder??? Encoders are more comfortable for me...

I like that one jack I might have to get one.

Re: Enclosures again...

It's a great idea... I still waiting for my kit, but I'm looking for a convenient enclosure to work everywhere, at home, on the field, on my truck.... Pelican boxes are a great idea

Enclosures again...

Has anyone considered building their BitX into a Pelican box like this company has? The one they have isn't a BitX but the idea's there. The 1120 is going for about $30 (w/ free shipping) on ebay if you find the right seller - someone is selling all of the colors for that price.

Cesar:

I have that generator and it works as advertised. However, I kind of wish I had this one, which is about the same price but with more functionality. Has anyone used this one?

K5BCQ has a kit called "Damm Reliable Attenuator".?? Get it with the switches with choice of BNC or SMA.

9 Stages.? What a nice kit!? Under $15.? Over 100 db.

Fun to build.? I checked out mine, it is plenty accurate.

Search for it.

Re: a missing capciator C93 or C103 for Bitx40v3

Oh, I need the instructions to add a power supply, antenna, etc. to it. The ham that handed it to me had no paper items except for a half page of paper that listed some components.

I don't see a way to edit my previous post or I would have done that instead of making a new one.

Re: a missing capciator C93 or C103 for Bitx40v3

Okay, don't worry about it then.

I would like some instructions and schematic. I looked through the files section here, but I'm not sure I got the correct ones.

Thanks,

Re: a missing capciator C93 or C103 for Bitx40v3

Jim :?

The Bitx40v3 board came preassembled, likely that cap is the the one intended to go between wiper and ground on the tuning pot.?

See details at :?

Note that this figure depicts a 10 turn pot, but you want same setup from Wiper to ground on a regular linear 10 pot.?

cheers
