QSO night west coast
HI All,
Just curious how many West coasters we had on last night. Once again I only contacted WB6NPM (until recently WB0NPM). I know that KE7RTV and W7LTG were also in there but couldn't work them. I heard another 7 call but they couldn't hear me. So, who all was there? I'm wondering if there were more than I could hear on frequency and the band sucked or if it is just slim pickings. Seems like a little later in the evening would be better for propagation as we get a little grey line action. Jonathan - KK6RPX |

Testing a new board PA
HI All,
My original BITX never "aligned" correctly. In order to get the 1 amp current draw when hallooo'ing into the mic I had to crank R136 all the way. In that way I could get 5 watts out but only if running higher PA voltages. I got a second board and was playing with it yesterday. I wanted to see if it behaved differently. So I hooked up the PWR, PA PWR and a mic. I get about 127mA at idle but no increase when I halloo. Does the VFO need to be connected? I'm guessing so but just thought I'd ask. That takes a little more doing and I was just curious. Thanks! Jonathan - KK6RPX |

Re: BITX40 TFT DISPLAY CODE - Coding A Control Button - Looking for Assistance to figure out why a Step Tuning button does not work

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýJack just read your QRZ page. I'm quite impressed. Do you have a ling to your AGC and voice compressor circuits?? Also I love the large display. Makes me wonder if I should get a case to support the regular LCD or wait for your options to become available. I see some here is already trying to use the large screen. I await you write ups and how to's on this.? Best Joe, KD2NFC? Sent from my iPhone On Jun 19, 2017, at 8:11 AM, Jack Purdum via Groups.Io <econjack@...> wrote:

Re: BITX40 TFT DISPLAY CODE - Coding A Control Button - Looking for Assistance to figure out why a Step Tuning button does not work
?Jack, ?THANKS ! Well, finally found ?at ?all the spots to make the screen look normal. (1:00am - is was getting so close I could not stop) It appears text size and id are the culprits. and getting the software to be identified as either 0x154 or 0x1289. I had to make several line changes as per your suggestions. Going to make a list of changes. Now that I know it works, I need to look at the original code and the modified code to see how to in Incorporate ?the? 2.8inch tft display board - id 0x1289 so it would be detected ?properly just like it does for your other displays. Other wise when you do the updates I would have to do all the changes over for each new revision. Nice to see the display as it should be --- looks so much better than an LCD...!! What happens if you add this new yellow line at line 1335 in setup(): ? g_identifier = tft.readID(); ? ?// Get TFT ID ?3.95" = 0x9486, 3.6" = 0x9488 ? g_identifier = 0x154; ? ? ? ? ? // Force a bogus ID From: Joe <joeman2116@...> To: [email protected] Sent: Sunday, June 18, 2017 11:07 PM Subject: Re: [BITX20] BITX40 TFT DISPLAY CODE - Coding A Control Button - Looking for Assistance to figure out why a Step Tuning button does not work Yes, it did change - just did not see it ?

Re: Universal Case For Bitx And other Ham Radio Projects
Hi Joe?
This to inform that the Universal Case has been listed on our Ebay store Fusion Radio. Link below. There are two colors available Maroon, which looks Like Engine Red as suggested by a comment from our group, and second is Blue. Now we have 2 models in both colors. The first one uses a normal mic pin, we are using a small 6 mic connector as pic below. The second model uses 2 stereo pins for mic, if the case is used for sdr the pins can be used for IN And Out for Audio. So the user can customize as he or she likes. The case is available as Bare And with accessories, so make your choice on our store we will add these to our site very soon too. Good Wishes to all. Our Blog ?is okay now and want have any pop up or ads to worry you. best of 73s Sunil? |

Re: Shielding plastic cases
Further to my post, those who still want to use plastic boxes can try to glue cooking aluminium foil to the inside of the box. However, I still recommend an aluminium or steel box for screening. Screening is important both to prevent pick up of unwanted signals and also unwanted radiation of signals from the TX circuitry not on the intended frequency. I was referring to my rig service days, I remember having problems with FT747. This type of tape comes in various widths. Tape lines side by side and solder the strips together. IMHO No need to solder the whole strip but a spot of solder to keep them electrically connected. Solder a wire from ground to the tape. Considering Bitx40 which has the PCB bottom side almost a ground plane, the case shielding may not make much difference. I have not shielded mine. Raj At 18/06/2017, you wrote:
