Re: DIY build your own N5ESE Ballpoint Pen RF Probe for cheap. Prefer a Sharpie RF Probe, yes we have that one, too.
The prescaler and especially the AD8703 stuffing options are admittedly a bit over the top. ?The audio and RF signal generators and the RF probe would likely cost pennies, it's all R's and C's and a

I see that Adafruit sells the PA-09 crimper.
If you watch either Adafruit's Ask An Engineer or Show and Tell shows, they

Hi Jerry:
Rolling these features into the BITX40 (hopefully) is unnecessary. That said, I think a (non-integrated) tool with these features would be useful for almost everyone; BITX40 or not.?

I'd like to see some sort of RF probe built into the main board of the Bitx40 on any new PCB rev. ?At least pads and traces laid out for it, to optionally be stuffed with parts obtained by the user.

Hi Don,
In addition to the other very valuable insights and suggestions you've received, for the specific problem of the carrier behaving as an "AM transmitter", I'd suggest you check the balanced

I just bought this RF probe:

as it has a readout but isn't tied to a DMM.

After trying and wasting money on other crimps and dies I wish I spend the 50 the first time. They're still a long shot cheaper then OEM molex crimps.
