Daylight again schematic error(?)
Group, I believe there is an error in the schematic of the daylight again radio. The RX first mixer has the PTO going to the gate with the high impedance input, while the RF input is going to the gate with the 1K resistor.?
I think they need to be reversed.? The band pass filter should be terminated into a high impedance and not low impedance. A low impedance termination will degrade the filter and the sensitivity becomes poor. This is what I have experienced in this build after many hours of tinkering. Plots of the filter show about 10db loss when terminated into 50 ohms. I have not done plots with a higher termination impedance. In my build, flipping the two signals improved the performance dramatically. I have not increased the PTO gate termination resistor from 1K to a higher value. The PTO signal measured 3.4Vp-p with the 1K. All in all, the receiver sounds pretty darn good!! 73 Barry |

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýThanks, Allen! ?I just finished working a trial for the physics test tomorrow. Will have to compare my answers to the students to see if I got it right!!I think I bit off a little too much this year... amazingly, the sixth grade students are dying to learn Morse code and I found a person who can take that over for me, ?to free me up for other courses. ?I Showed the students the sBitx but it went right over their heads...., reasonable for sixth graders but still they¡¯ll remember it Gordon On Sep 7, 2022, at 18:09, Allen Hill via groups.io <Allenanalog1@...> wrote:

Gordon, I want to thank you for all you do for Amateur Radio. You are a busy man and I hope you continue to be. I always appreciate your insights and inputs. JIm, I agree with your points and also agree with Gordons, too. I would suggest if you can buy them for $5 from china, thats pretty cheap on the price. And if you can bundle them into a nice price, you could buy a boatload and resell them to other hams and make some nice money. Im a tight budgeted ham who would probably either dig into my junk box . I try not to buy every? new board that comes out on the market unless its revolutional to my setup.HI HI.I can only afford so much on my fixed income. Just depends on which path we each travel down. Also, if Gordon is releasing the gerbers and such for free, WOW. Any tech stuff thats free is great. Anyway see you both on the bands. By the way, My wife says IM THE ORIGINAL GRUMPY MAN .hi hi 73 David ac9xh

Re: Sbitx manual
Gordon,
I clicked through all the stuff to see about getting a PCB for the reverse voltage protection device. After a few pages, I was disappointed to see an asking price of USD$28 and change. ?Really??? A couple of points. ?First, anybody offering anything for sale online NEEDS to show the price on the first landing page. ?It's an unfortunate and objectionable trend for sellers not to do that, and personally I think it stinks, especially when I could get this PCB made in China for $5 each or less in small quantities -- like, USD$28 would pay for at least half a dozen, delivered. Next, if something is going to cost an arm and a leg, you really ought to say so up front. ?Not all of us are millionaires these days. This little board is an ingenious product, but if it costs nearly as much as the expensive equipment it's supposed to protect, what's the point of anybody buying it? ?We can just blow up our good stuff and replace it, if the protection circuitry costs more than what's being protected. File me as "Grumpy Old Man". ?Thank you. Jim N6OTQ |

Art,
You do not have the correct software.? Go to this file and download it: /g/BITX20/files/uBITX_6_N8ME_2_VU3GAO_Mods.zip Then follow the instructions on Farhan's video to compile and load it into the Nano: 73 Evan AC9TU |

It is concerning. If they really were shipped out by USPS last week, some people should be getting them by now, and others would have gotten the upcoming delivery notice if they're signed up for Informed Delivery. Re: Loss of CW Side tone When load N8ME Firmware.uBITX V6
Hi Chuck,
Two things come up to me as to loss in sidetone: 1 - The N8ME configuration 2 - The Nano has a hardware issue To address problem 1, verify that CW is selected on the main page and that the Side Tone is set in the configuration menu. Problem 2 could occur if you swapped Nanos in changing the two software programs. NOTE: I am running the N8ME software with the VU3GAO mods available in the files section. 73 Evan AC9TU |
