Re: Here's the operating manual

Neither does the Teensy, but they emulate it. No such thing on the RP? Jack, W8TEE

Re: uBITX 13 Colonies Clean Sweep!
Great job, Justin!? Congratulations!? QRP is fun!? A few months ago I finally completed my WAS via QRP, all with the ubitx.? It took a few years and multiple versions of the ubitx (v3 to v6), but I count it as all with ubitx.? Great little radio!? Super on the 13 colonies in a short time!

Evan,
I have done the calibration using the TCXO. Now both on USB or LSB i can hear the TCXO if I tune slightly (few 10ths of Hz) away from TCXO center frequency 20MHz. Also I am able to receive the TCXO on CW without any problem. I followed the steps from VU2ESE calibration video and using "N8ME firmware with VU3GAO mod".? One more thing, when I tried to do BFO calibration with the the 0.5W 2 inch speaker, the calibration tool indicated strange graph unlike in the video. Then I used my Sony headphone and put a small lapel mic right inside the left eardrum of the headphone. This arrangement produced nice graph on BFO calibration tool. I think I have done it right, but I still need you to say if that looks good enough calibration? Thanks Ashok VU3KFK |

uBITX 13 Colonies Clean Sweep!
Just had to brag about my V6!? I am up at our cabin, in OK, for the summer and do several POTA activations per week with my uBITX and it has worked flawlessly!? These past several days I also chased 13 Colonies stations concurrently with my POTA activations.? Yesterday I finished my digital QRP Clean Sweep!? All contacts were FT8 except for one FT4.? I have also got my KILO award this year for two parks, all with the V6.
I feel real sad for folks that look down on QRP and say it's not worth messing with... :-( 73, Justin B. KI5GLD |

Re: uBITX Operator awards KO4CVU and others
Fldigi here.? Looking at my log and grouping by modes, I might have the award for most digitally diverse.? See list below.? I can say that until proven wrong. hahah.
Note, some modes require their own apps like FreeDV and VarAC.? But 99.9% of this is Fldigi. The large number of FT8 qso might be due to certain automation tools (think WSJT-Z)? -- I collect FT8 for propagation and antenna analysis -- not for any contests, awards or certifications. Just data. And the modes in yellow are some of my favorate...so number of qso vs enjoyment factor seems a bit inversely related.? Last on the list is?OFDM500F -- and I can tell you it is wicked fast.? Yes, the humble uBITX eats these modes up like candy. No problems at all.?

Re: uBITX Operator awards KO4CVU and others
Ashhar,
You are being too kind. I am using Fldigi version 4.1.23 running in Raspbian on a Raspberry Pi 3B. The Pi is the microprocessor part of the Nexus DR-X crosspatch that Budd Churchward, WB7FHC, kits and sells on his webpage at?. The package of software for it is maintained by Steve Magnuson,?AG7GN.? And by the way, based on my own personal experience, I have come to the conclusion that "Howard's modification" made it possible to run digital on my version 6. I say that because I recently bought a second, but unmodified, v6. I tried to use my Nexus DR-X crosspatch with it but the output power was only about 1/10 watt. After completing "Howard's modification", I can get about 4 watts out on 20 meters and 40 meters. I had already completed "Howard's modification" on my first v6 before trying to go digital with it. That first unit will deliver 5 watts on 20 meters and about 10 watts on 40 meters. I am not smart enough to know why "Howard's modification" seems to enable the digital connection to work, I just lucked into the discovery. I also do not understand why the second v6 won't give me more power out on 40 watts, but QRP digital at 5 watts or less is my niche, so I am happy. My most recent power measurements have been with the Barb-A-Watt QRP HF Power / SWR monitor kitted and sold by Kees Talen, K5BCQ. Thanks again for the kind words. If it wasn't for you and your uBITX, I wouldn't be enjoying the ham radio hobby today. Please keep up the great creative work! |

Hello Ashhar, Where do people submit "comments, corrections, or suggestions" on the sBitx Operating Manual? I think you meant PSK31 instead of PS31 on page 1. Here is the paragraph: This radio is a reflection of how like the SSB and NBFM, now modes like the PS31 and FT8 are so ubiquitous that they ought to be available on the radio¡¯s mode switch rather than maze of wires, interface circuitry and an external computer system. 73 Daniel KK4MRN
