Re: Ubitx - using Amateurradiokits.in AGC

Just thought, I should have added this picture of a finished board, showing the parts nicely. Dang big picture. -- k |

well, just because I can? ..I know "smart-ass answer", but I bought the ubitx to play with so ...and I don't like the sound with the clk0 running on it on AM Jim

Jim,x Why a separate AM detector? When the reference oscillator is calibrated then you just tune to the carrier frequency and it is zero beat. I've been listening to broadcast on the BITX since I first went digital with them. It works better than the normal AM detector since the carrier isn't necessary. No distortion. Exalted carrier. Biggest issue is the narrow filter band pass. But it's good enough for my ears. 73, Don |

?Also, I forgot, here is the board layout for the board that comes with the kit. ?I inly have the parts, but will put them on a perfboard. |

?here is a partial schematic for the BITX40 from . ?You can see where the AGC ic connected to the first RX IF amp. I'll look for the schematic for the AGC kit for the same, at least theone I have parts for. |
Re: The new uBITX boards are here
Somewhere, in the loft of the garage, above the shack, rests my old HP-65. I lived on ramen and cheap hamburgers for several months,
scrimping and saving for that freshman EE major's dream, complete with mag stripe program packs and printer, for $750.00 (1976 USD). I'm posting this from a $35 Raspberry Pi, that's also running the Arduino IDE as I tweak my uBitx. Guess being an early adopter has it's pitfalls. ;>}. 73's DE KD0KSP Ted |
Re: DAC/ADC for PI, might be useful here
Been using HIFI Berry + and RTC for a few years now for Audio Playback just thought others might be interested since they now have DSP and ADC versions. The only other cards I've seen where either low bit rate or audio only. Plus they ship quick and build quality so far great, have to admit I've seen a few other High End cards out there but way too expensive. Just wish they included RTC Chip on ADC Card.

Just a few things. I would do some partial assembly of the raduino, main board etc to get a feel for things. Many in qrp community like bnc, of course idea is to do it the way you want it. For some folk in the world, that ptt and microphone element get them on the air. Yes normally open ptt. I suggest wiring up both headphone and speaker. You may find audio output lacking to drive a speaker. Some folk use an external amplified speaker, or add an internal audio amplifier. I suggest you visit some websites from around the world that describe bitx assembly. Curt |
Bitx-40 Arrived Today - Advice Solicited on My Plan
Pat Anderson
OK, my bitx-40 arrived today from GigaParts. I misspoke when i said it was $20 more than ordering from India withthe? DHL option - it was only $10 more. $69 plus $10 shipping versus $59 plus $10 DHL. Who doesn't waste $10 a day, more or less, I know I do, so not beating myself up over that! I spend a good deal of the day today in the wood shop here building a cabinet or case out of 1/4" birch plywood. Now I am trying to figure out how things go together physically. The frequency display is 7 cm x 2.5 cm, as accurately as I can measure, so I propose to cut an opening in the face of the cabinet to those dimensions.? I am thinking I will use small screws to attach the frequency display to the face. Then the Raduino will simply plug into the display.? Wrong? There are eight standoffs in the hardware. Four will go on the main board, but I have no idea what the other four were intended for. I don't see how they would be used for the frequency display or that Raduino. Four standoffs will probably be glued to the bottom of the cabinet with hot glue. Otherwise, I don't see what I am supposed to do with them. I have printed out the wire-up instructions from the Wiki, but truly they are less than crystal clear. When I hit any specific issue, I will post a question here! I have ordered a few things from eBay. First, the supplied PTT is really ridiculous. I ordered a larger normally open momentary switch. I sure hope the PTT is supposed to be normally open! Correct? Second thing is a 10 turn 10K pot with a knob for tuning, which somebody recommended. Third thing is an SO-239 connector for the antenna, the supplied BNC connector does not make any sense to me. Lastly, I ordered an 8 ohm speaker, since I do not intend to use earphones. I built my cabinet enough higher than absolutely necessary to accommodate putting the speaker in the top of the cabinet. I have some soldering stuff coming from Amazon, and I will go to Home Depot and buy some resin core solder and some wire. As far as I can see, the main thing I need additional wire for is the 12 volt power supply connector. Anything else? Thanks, really looking forward to getting this puppy assembled! Unfortunately it will be April until I get home to Washington State before I can connect it to an antenna and give it a try! ? |
Re: DAC/ADC for PI, might be useful here
Just to add I received my Smarti PI Touch case for original PI Touchscreen I bought few years back and haven¡¯t used because it was flemzy and awkward. This new case not only mounts screen with PI but has an optional back cover with room to mount your project in the case. Here is the website?https://smarticase.com/ ?
They are also on sale so bought two more. I will be using on with a SDR I¡¯m building . For those who like the PI you should check it out. Thanks, Jim Im not affiliated with this place either. |

Hi
This spreadsheet of expected voltages is useful, but is there a table of expected voltages for the actual test point numbers?? TP1, TP2, etc.? This would be even more?useful as, on the v4 board, these TP locations are stenciled in and easy to find and get at with a probe.? The legs of teeny tiny SMD transistors are harder to target.? 73, Scott VO1DR |
