I didn't yet measure the output of Q1 but will do soon.
Have you tried a USB microphone to see if you get better results?? I released an app to use USB input devices in Toolbox v2.2. Since you are using my build, you can do this to update Toolbox on the beta build using terminal.

cd $HOME
cd sBITX-toolbox/
./uninstaller.sh?
cd $HOME
git clone https://github.com/drexjj/sBITX-toolbox64.git
cd sBITX-toolbox64

I should also say that these files do change config.txt and other settings. Previous changes to make the sBitx work will be overwritten. I have not had the energy or time to understand what and why - enjoying my time with family today.

I spent a good amount of time on this issue and found that the Pi update downloaded some incompatible files yesterday for whatever reason. The Pi distro was corrected sometime today and now downloads the correct files for the Pi4 platform. Someone fell asleep at the wheel over at Pi foundation HQ.?

This is now a non-issue for my build using the update/upgrade procedure.

FWIW- I recompiled WiringPi and reset the soundmapping to get it to work but the display was still having issues. Reflashed to Beta2 and performed an upgrade this morning and everything went smooth.

Re: Voltage input on screen?

The speaker will be the best voltage indicator. Because the LM380 audio amplifier IC does not work below 10V, So, if the speaker does not sound, then the voltage is less than 10V.
Don't ask how I know. The headphone output can still be used.

Re: UBitx v6 - no transmit power

Hi All,
I've checked voltages on the board, in most instances during tx and rx, against the uBitxV4 data sheet (I couldn't find q71 to q73 - perhaps not on v6 board)

Most things were pretty close eg Q90 TX was 10.79 3.43 2.71, against the V4 figures of 11.55 3.66 3.04
Q911/912 11.05 0.90 0.32 against 11.8 1.07 0.49

However, when I measured Q10, Q20, Q30,Q40 readings were all over the place. Q10, Q11, Q12 TX voltages on Collector were all 0v, against v4 readings of 7.47v, 11.58v. 11.58v respectively.

Q20, 21, 22 RX voltages C B and E were all 0v
Q30, 31, 32 TX voltages C B and E were all 0v
Q40, 41, 42 RX voltages C B and E were all 0v

Not wishing to waste anyone's time, am I reading the data sheet correctly?

Thanks as ever,
Nick

Voltage input on screen?

I typically use the sBitx on battery power, usually larger RC 3S Lipo Packs.? Is there any way to see the input voltage on screen?? Or do these sensors exist on the board already??

?

Thank you,
Jared

I'm not a very good coder but I can see that hooking to the library would be similar to the way FLDigi is tied in.
We'd need to route the audio chain to/from the W<8731 and then port the FreeDV to/from the USB headset. the rest is just triggering TX and I asserting the codec2 to encode/decode.
I think this would be a super cool additional mode to bake in
what say you?

Re: Playing with Sbitx software without Sbitx

Ryan -?

To get the software to run I found you need a minimum of the WM8731 codec and an SI-5351 connected to a Pi 3 or 4.? I used an Adafruit style SI-5351 module and a WM8731 proto type board from ?.? You also need a monitor.? The build is optimized for the 7" pi touch screen.? I found a wireless keyboard and mouse to also be very useful.

See my blog at and other posts here on the board for more info,
