Re: sbitxv2 is available now
Hello Paul,
Right now we don't have the option of buying just the board and the enclosure. The enclosure comes with the display.
Maybe at a later point in time we may consider this option of just the board and the enclosure, but right now we aren't offering?it.
Hope it helps.

Btw, Ashhar, you said you had some hiccups in 64 bits. I got no hiccup yet. If you remember what it was, let me know.

Re: New problem with sBitx: no signal, no audio
Ok, I’m now learning more about I2C. BTW my new scope has serial decode, including I2C.?
Clearly the Raspberry Pi has to establish a serial communication with the Si5351a when the sbitx process starts in order for the radio to work. Sometimes that link is established and sometimes it isn’t. I’m assuming the Raspberry Pi is the master and the 5351 is the slave. The question then is, which is at fault? Is the Raspberry Pi failing to initiate a connection properly or is the 5351 unable to acknowledge appropriately? How would one tell? Jack N6LN

New to the list. Been an active
radio amateur for over 60 years. Just became aware of the
sBitxV2 yesterday, so I joined the list to learn what I can.
The sBitxV2 with it's 7" screen, looks like an excellent,
reasonably priced, easy to use, portable/emergency transceiver.
Couple of questions:
Has adding the 60 meter band been addressed? (Is
it possible and/or reasonable)?
Has adding "out of the AR bands" transmit for MARS and Shares,
been addressed? (same query).
Your attention is appreciated.

Using an external HDMI TV Monitor
I have difficulty using an old HDMI TV as a monitor with the Sbitx.? I believe that the HDMI sound is the issue.? It seems to work if I duplicate the displays.? That makes the DSI display bigger, not at a higher resolution.? If I adjust the second display to a higher resolution, the gtk screen starts on the HDMI screen, not the DSI.
So there are two issues that I do not understand: 1 - How to setup the sound system to start correctly when an HDMI monitor with sound is connected 2 - How can the base gtk screen start on the built-in DSI monitor and not the external HDMI when the HDMI has a different resolution?

Re: New problem with sBitx: no signal, no audio
Jack,
I have a similar issue with my sBITX.? It is not as frequent as what you have described.? It will, on occasion, not start or will start with a wave across the band scope.? Turning off, and waiting for a minute, will, most of the time, correct the issue.? Sometimes it takes a couple of tries.?
Something in the bootup sequence does not always initialize everything correctly.? If the initialization fails, it does not detect the issue and will start with impaired operation.? I thought it had to do with the WM8731 codec.? I was not been able to track it down.? Your finding the noise on the SDA when the HDMI cable is connected may indicate that it concerns the Si5351 initialization and not the WM8731 code.
I like the new scope traces.? It is pushing me to upgrade my scope.

Re: New problem with sBitx: no signal, no audio
Thanks Lawrence.?
Evan, the Si5351 breakout board has short leads and is nearly on top of where the 5351 used to be on the main board. Please see the photo. Also, the cable to the RTC board already has chokes per your previous suggestion. For the purposes of this testing the RTC unit itself is not connected.
I now have a half decent scope which is light years more useful than the cheap scope I had been using. I can now clearly see what’s on the I2C lines and store images. It’s much easier to see clearly whether there should activity or not. Same goes for the clock outputs.?
Here’s what I’ve seen tonight: the Si5351 breakout board appeared dead, or was not active, for days regardless of restarting the sBitx process or rebooting the unit or recycling power. Previously in weeks past it apparently wouldn’t start and the waterfall would run but without any signal or noise whatsoever, and there was no rf output on key down. Tonight, however, that inactivity once again became intermittent. It happened about three times but came completely back to life with a power recycle. And later on it became more stable, reliably starting up with good audio, good FT8 signals and good CW output to a dummy load. So the board is not fried. ?Why it’s intermittent is a mystery. I’ve checked all of the solder connections and they look fine but perhaps I should reheat each joint in case there’s a cold one. This is with the front panel and RTC clock removed.
Now that I have a scope that’s easier to use I can see more clearly (with better triggering circuits) when there is activity on SDA and SDL, and output on the clock outputs. See the stored traces that I uploaded. First, there’s a signal on the I2C lines even when the main power is off, and this is clearly present only when the HDMI is connected to the Raspberry Pi. Next are the traces from the SDA, SCL and CLK0 CLK1 and CLK2 lines. When the sBitx process is running but there’s no audio or waterfall noise or signal, there’s no activity—nothing—on the I2C lines and no clock output at all. I am not sure why I am having this intermittent problem but at least it’s working now. I wonder whether there is a problem with one of the pull-up resistors on the Adafruit Si5351a breakout board. I could always reinstall the pull-up resistors on the main board which are sitting there tombstoned. I also put some heat sinks on the 2N2219A’s. They were getting hotter than the IRFZ24Ns! I’ll take a closer look tomorrow.

Petr? The planned feature is not so2r, but being able to respond back to two contacts at once. It works like this : You call CQ and wait, two stations call you back. Now, when you transmit your exchange, you can simultaneously transmit two messages at two different tones (frequencies) in the same transmission. It is very simple implementation. The key challenge would be to be able to decode both at once. Probably, one station by ear and the other by a decoder. Someone has to crack a multichannel cw decoder... - f
