I did unplug the Nano from everything else and no change.

Processors are?? ATMega328p, ATMega328p(Old Bootloader) and ATMega168

ATMega328p is selected.

Should I try old bootloader??

Don¡¯t see anything on the board except ¡°NANO¡±

I understand it is a Raduino

Ted,
Can you verify that you have a Nano clone?? It could be that you have a Raduino that is not from HF Signals.? HF Signals uses Nano clones with the CH340 series of USB interfaces.? The ATMega328p (Old Bootloader) is used for that clone.? Try the ATMega328p to see if that works.

You can also try unplugging the Nano from the Raduino and run just it off of the USB cable.? There may be a power drain on the Raduino board that is causing it to fail.? The Nano will get power from the USB port.

Pictures of the boards would help.?

You could order a Nano clone (should be less than $10 from Amazon or eBay) to see if the bootloader is corrupted/different for the Nano that you have.

I could not find a single Nano for sale.? The above link is for 3.

Okay Comport set as you suggested. For some reason ¡°Com&LPT¡± did not appear on Device Manager until I plugged in My Navigator and then the Nano. Something I set when setting the Navigator up, Anyway now have Com10 assigned.

Tried the upload again with same results ¡°sync error¡±

¡°AVRDUDE;STK500_GETSYNC()? NOT IN SYNC¡±

I will next check the cable with an ohm meter just to rule it out as a charge cable.

Maybe it just won¡¯t handle data freq.???

Yes using Windows 10. Looks like I messed up the Comport setup but got the rest okay.

Now getting a sync error when uploading so will go back and redo the Comport as you suggest.

Will let you know the result.

Ted,
I assume that you are using Windows as your OS.? If so, then I would suggest that you open the Device Manager through right-clicking on the Windows icon and selecting Device Manager. Open the Ports (COM & LP) and then connect your Nano.? The one that is added is the correct comm port.? (I did not have the Nano connected when I took the screenshot).

Also will need to set up the board:

And the Processor:

That should get you connected to the Nano.?

If it is a "Charging Cable" it may not have the data leads.

If it is a data cable it will work for both data and charging.?

?

You do have to select the correct Arduino model and the correct boot loader for things ro work properly.

You have to select the proper USB port on your operating system for it to talk to the Arduino.

I am not sure where you are having trouble, Ted. Do you get any error messages at the bottom of the IDE screen when compiling? Do you have the right USB port selected when connected to the Raduino?

My previous programming had been with Fortran on punched cards, then some Basic compiling on an old TRS-80, so the Arduino and C++ was totally new. When I started messing with firmware I found the "Raduino Software for Geezers" very helpful:
/g/BITX20/message/26522?p=,,,20,0,0,0::Created,,software+for+geezers,20,2,0,5045944
Once I sorted that out I was able to load Allard's sketch and then start modifying it to allow displaying an S-meter and voltmeter, and Allard was very helpful when I got stuck in the software.
