Re: Solid state relay board
Using a solid state relay designed to turn on lighting and motors and such won't work at 7mhz, orders of magnitude too much capacitive loading. ? I doubt they bother to spec them sufficiently to

Here's a datasheet link? .... has a diagram of the circuit typologies for both types of relay.

Thanks to all who have replied to my quesiton. I'd like to eventually convert the BitX40 to a BitX20 and do JT on that band. Ted

Yes.? I bought mine specially for working JT65.? I have made many contacts using that mode.? A couple of notes: * JT65 runs on USB even on 40 meters - so you need? to use a version of the Raduino

Re: Use of BitX40 for WSJT-X
Ooops...you were asking about JT65. I did make a couple contacts using JT65, but the transmissions are even longer. I had no problems with the contacts I made. It seems to be less crowded.

Re: Use of BitX40 for WSJT-X
Been running FT8 for the last several days with no problems. After about 5 contacts, I'll let the radio "rest" for a little bit. Even with the power reduced, I can feel the heat sink getting warm. The

I do this too. I'm running a large 2"x2"x1.5" chipset heatsink with good thermal grease. It doesn't even get warm.

I use a 7812 to power the radio and send the unregulated to the PA. Take note, the cap on the PA power is only rated for 25 volts. Vince. -- Michigan VHF Corp. http://www.nobucks.net/
