Mic doesn't work in bitx40
#bitx40
Hello everyone.. I have some problem with my mic pre-amp.. The voltage from 4.7KOhm resistor suddenly drop to 0.130-0.132Volt after I connect it to the mic electret..? Is this normal? I've put my

Re: Core for Output Transformer
Hi Nick, yes close to AUD$11 here plus postage. I did a few tests on my uBITX today. *It started off totally stock.* I measured the power out (CW mode) and then added the 220pF caps and some other

If you build per the plans and don't happen to have a fuse on the power supply, there is no reverse polarity protection. Search for "reverse polarity" in this forum to see the various threads. Here's

If you built it per the plans with the diode across the power jack, you may be lucky and just shorted the diode.? I've replaced hundreds of protect diodes in various mobile equipment with no further

Re: Using IRF530 outputs and 2N3553 drivers in ubitx
Hi! I feel we should give BFG591 a try, they are modern devices , easily available with online suppliers and more compatible with the SMD construction of uBitx. There is plenty of headroom where Ft is

Re: A friendly suggestion for Farhan.
To be honest, the ubitx represents approx. $80-100 in parts, with labor and shipping determining the final cost. A profit-motivated manufacturer couldn't sell $80-100 worth of parts for $200 - it

You will have re calculate and rewind the output transformer because all the calculations of this transformer depends on the operating voltage. As you are going to increase the voltage on the IRF

Re: A friendly suggestion for Farhan.
I totally agree with the ideal antenna installation. But at this time where I live, 19 foot apex of an Inverted vee with the ends suspended at 8 feet is the best I can do. And with the BITX 40, I have

THanks GLen. I was about to suggest using dual bn43-202 for the output and power feeding... should be easy enough to fit in the existing board... Wonder if it will be better to do this or a bifilar

I'm taking the approach of a mod to the board to limit voltage to the audio amp to 8V. (3 terminal regulator lm7808). One cut in the right place and mount it to the back of the board.? Then the amp

Re: Using IRF530 outputs and 2N3553 drivers in ubitx
That is consistent with my testing. The 2n3904s are marginal for power and FT. So it shows a higher FT device that can run at more power helps, 2N3553 will do both.? Other choices would be 2n3866 and
