Re: uBITX power supply
Prathap Naidu
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýHi, I am doing the same on ubitx backing off the RV1 preset , to drive 5 watts into external Linear amp ? Farhan can I have Drive pot mounted suitably on the rear panel, as it would make it easier to adjust drive on different bands ? thanks 73 Pop VU2POP ? ? From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Ashhar Farhan ? You can always turn down the preset on the predriver stage to let the rig coast under 2 amps, or... remember to speak softly into the mic. - f ? I am using an old laptop supply for my BITX40 but it is only rated at 2.5 amps and it looks like Ashhar's latest masterpiece needs 3a.? I've been through my junk cache in my office and basement without luck.? I still have to rummage through my stashes in the garage and the barn but I might actually have to break down and buy something.? Of course buying a replacement for something I think I have is usually the easiest way to find it. |

I'm in the same boat. I read somewhere the first batch (1000?) was sold out Sunday Dec. 10th.
I ordered on Monday the 11th and in the same quandary. I am guessing we missed the first batch and will have to wait until whenever the 2nd batch is released. No idea when that will be but at least we are on the list. Pete WK8S |
Re: It's alive!
My uBITX is progressing a little slower than some others.? After much contemplation I decided to do the chassis thing in two stages.? First chassis will be temporary and serve for initial testing and as a template for a yet-to-be-built aluminium box. For the temporary chassis I cut some plastic sheet and used hot-melt glue to fabricate a box.? It is necessary to measure carefully in order to have the LCD protrude from the front panel and the heat sinks against the back panel. ? This image shows the front panel with components mounted but not yet wired.? Labels have not yet been applied.? The upper left LED is a RED unit and will show relative antenna current.? The lower left LED is bi-color (Red and Green) and will be show transmit and receive mode.? The upper right LED is green and will show when power is on.? Other images are attached to this email.? Hopefully they will be viewable by all. Arv _._ On Wed, Dec 13, 2017 at 2:20 PM, Arv Evans <arvid.evans@...> wrote:

Re: uBITX Case
I'm by far an expert at this, but what about using support structures or breakaway columns as the case is being formed? ? Sent from Yahoo Mail. ¿ªÔÆÌåÓýOr buy a pack of male-to-female jumper wires labeled for Arduino
use (to make sure you get the right header pitch and pin size) and
tear off only the 16 you need. My pack of 120 (40 male/male, 40 male/female, 40 female/female)
cost $10 on Amazon for ~6" long and have been very useful while
soldering up other connections for mods. John On 12/13/2017 7:34 PM, Michael Babineau

Matt Patterson ??? is very intuitive.? if you get stuck their tutorials are good.? it is not the most robust program but it is great for simple designs. |
Re: uBITX Case
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýIf he follows his usual approach, Sunnil in India is likely to produce a custom case for the uBITX, as he has for the BITX20? and BITX40. His prices will be difficult to match, I suspect. Bill, VK7MX On 14/12/2017 2:16 AM, Jeff (NT1K)

Re: uBITX Case BNC vote
RCA connectors are readily available, inexpensive, and work quite well. _._ On Wed, Dec 13, 2017 at 3:16 PM, Keith VE7GDH <ve7gdh@...> wrote: Wicker (call sign?) wrote... |

I can add to the general consensus that a well thoughtI don't know why hams are "stuck" on the inferior PL-259 plug and SO-239 socket. Well, I do. It's because manufacturers keep sticking them on the back of radios and we don't insist that they stop using them. For a small connector, I would prefer SMA. BNC is "OK" but the bayonets wear out if you you connect/disconnect them enough times. For a "large" connector, the N connector is superior in so many ways. -- 73 Keith VE7GDH |
