Re: BITX40 Transistor Voltage Measurements
That's one of the most helpful things I've seen here. I'll be comparing mine with this stock data. Keeping in mind my DMM is like a hand grenade. Does yours have the expected current and wattage

Re: Tips n Mods update
Hi Rob: Thanks for all the great info, however I have been looking for the commented lines that turn on the Radiono features, I can't seem to find them. I am sure that there are Bitxers that

Re: Possible PA low output problem.
24W was a peak reading of the needle on the meter when it jumped up. I should have said 18W to 12W, depending on what part of HellOoo I say. I won't be getting another cheap MFJ meter again. I don't

Rob, They can use the spreadsheet and replace my data with their data. Thanks for including the data. Randy

BITX40 Intermittent power connector
Hi While taking my transistor measurements this morning I noticed that my supplied power connector was intermittent. I was hearing a lot of static in the speaker and flicking display LEDS when I

Re: BITX40 Transistor Voltage Measurements
Hi Randy, Thanks for that.? I will include them in the Tips doc.? I'm hoping at least two others will do the same so we can have a typical set of voltages. -- Rob G4NQX

Re: Possible PA low output problem.
John, For sure it is something wrong with your measurement tools. You cannot put out 24W when your input power is less than 20W. I suspect your multimeter is not measuring DC current very

BITX40 Transistor Voltage Measurements
Hi I measured all the transistor voltages for both receive and transmit and entered all that data into a document. I believe my BITX40 is operating normally.? Please let me know of any errors. I

bjorn asked for more data, and rightly so. I don't know who said this, but it's a good quote. "The difference between science and just screwing around is, writing it down. If your not writing it down,

Chuck, You ever get that thing working? ? I believe this is the last we heard from you.

Re: Possible PA low output problem.
I do not see my comment mentioned anywhere in this email conversation. So I will mention it here. The Bitx40 has two power inputs. One is for most of the rig, and one is just for the final amp.

You might want to try playing with a spice model of the final on your computer. ?Can be very informative, and a fun tool. ?Be aware that LTSpice assumes you keep voltages and currents down to where

Re: Possible PA low output problem.
Some multimeter need both red and black wires to be relocated for Amp meter.? Check the tinny lines and also check that on some of them you could measure AC and DC in different dial position.

Re: Possible PA low output problem.
Yes, this is a very good start, thanks a lot. If you have any idea of what happens to these numbers if you increase the 12V to get more output (tx) power that would be useful.
