New Surface Mount Kit Not Working, Current Draw?
A buddy bought a SMD pre-assembled board and says it's completely deaf, while he can hear lots of band activity with his FT-817ND. I volunteered to go over it with my scope and diagnose it.

Re: Ebay Store Kits Out Of Stock?
Thanks Mike!
I have a few questions:
*1. What is story behind the two different sellers? *
There's hfsigs.com like you mentioned, and then what I was referring to:

Re: Ebay Store Kits Out Of Stock?
Try ordering direct from India. It takes a few weeks, but that's how I got
mine.

Ebay Store Kits Out Of Stock?
I was looking at finally ordering a kit, and now they all seem to have
disappeared. Only the PCBs are left.
Do we know if/when they will be available again?
Thanks all!

Ken:??Placement of the BFO freq relative to the IF passband will have an enormous effect on how the rig sounds on receive (and transmit!).??If your Si5351 is supplying both the BFO and VFO

Re: BITX 40 - DDS right connection
i think that dds with ad9850 have only -6dbm ,you have put one small

Re: BITX 40 - DDS right connection
Thanks Mike. Today I done a fast test with my 9850 based dds, it work well but input signals was weak than the original vfo.
Then i think that the level of dds signal need to be buffered to work

Re: BITX 40 - DDS right connection
I think all you have to do (if you use the DDS tap) is to remove the VFO Tuning Pot from it's 3-pin
connector (TUNING1)
This removes the voltage to the Toroid / Varactor pair - no oscillation and no

Re: Bitx40 audio
I'm going to try and play with a class D audio module with built-in programmable AGC parameters. This coupled with a $3 arduino nano clone could make a nice up-grade for the BITX40?

BITX 40 - DDS right connection
Hi Ashhar, i have two questions:
1. when connect DDS or External VFO do I need to desolder only the L4 coil and disconnect the tuning potentiometer?
2. I have replaced the six resistor to 220

Re: Bitx40 audio
Hi!
Lets see how much all these mods improve the audio quality. Lately we have been working with TDA2822, these chips are easily available as they are widely used in USB pc ?speakers. They are dual

Re: Bitx40 audio
Thanks Rahul,
That's another possibility I hadn't thought of yet. I have seen VK3YE do that before on his audio amps. I would have rather had a TDA7052A, but you can't have everything:-)

Re: Bitx40 audio
Hi!
While doing these mods try a 1nf cap in series with 10k resistor between pin 1 and 5 this also helps with the audio.

Re: Bitx40 audio
Thanks Joel.
I removed the cap at Pin1 & 8 long ago and that helped a lot. I'll try the
470 later today.
Hope you had a good Thanksgiving.

Re: Bitx40 audio
Hi Ken,
No I haven't had much time over the holiday with my Family being around, however, the first thing I'm going to do is change that 450mfd snubber cap on the output of the LM386 to a 220. If you

LED-LDR audio AGC for BitX
Tried uploading a circuit to Files but it didn't work.
Anyway it's in this video along with a description and a demonstration.
An LED, LDR, one transistor and little else.
