uBitx has a Arduino with USB serial port. The CAT code is implemented in the firmware and it is very simple to read and understand. If CAT does not work for you, or you are doing something wrong, or if there is an issue, it will be possible to fix it, as the firmware of uBitx is free software.
I only use the uBitx with CAT, and disabled physical PTT, screen and other stuff. If the default Ashhar firmware works better for you, just swap the ubitx_cat.cpp from Reed's repo by the Ashhar one and try it out. But if it still does not work, then it could be some delay may be cause by the graphics functions...? just guessing here.
Btw, both Ashhar and Reed's firmware implements Yaesu FT817 CAT syntax (but you could use any "standard"... I implemented my own CAT code, which I think it is more sane and expose commands to change BFO, mastercal and other features add in ubitx' mods: )
Hardware wise, CAT (USB serial communication) definitely works.
Cheers,
Rafael

Hoping to get a small poll of what folks are using for firmware if they operator any digital modes.
I've been using because of the faster display refresh, but CAT seems to be mostly un-useable. I'm looking for other options to try which has been successful for others.
