Lionel said that her first time saying no to someone was disastrous, as they "almost had to stop the show." After the deal was done, she asked Luke Bryan, a fellow judge on the American Idol panel, whether she had to do it again, and he advised her that there were 100 more times to go. According to judge Lionel Richie , Carrie Underwood is not "vicious" at all and brings a loving and caring energy to the show, which has not been seen for decades. He says that she is every bit as sweet and compassionate as her reputation says.
