De Feathered
Hey all, Long time between contributions from me, but I’ve been spending most of my music time practicing and studying theory, trying to hone the old skills. Anyhow, below is a link to a new piece I’m working on. Any feedback good or bad would be appreciated, especially in regards to getting the piano to stand out, perhaps be a bit brighter. I suck at mixing, but I feel this piece has some feeling to it, so I’d like to flesh it out as best I can. Here ya go: https://www.dropbox.com/s/91s8viihm477y1j/De%20Feathered1.13.mp3?dl=0 Later, Che

A Silly Submission
3
Hi, Here's a silly submission to get the ball rolling. It's something I did to familiarize myself with the grid in Reaper. My GF coriographed the tap-dancing section, I just pushed the buttons. There are a few artifacts in the vocal because my sound card was acting up for some weird reason. Here it is: https://www.dropbox.com/s/kdvlil82wzkv9x8/Captain%20Stratton%27s%20Fancy.flac?dl=1 Justin

Welcome new members and a note about posting
Hey gang, We have a few new members to the list, welcome all. Just a reminder, feel free to post anything here you like as far as music or sound design. This list is for people to get their stuff out there, let others hear it and discuss and ask questions. We haven’t had many submissions lately, I think maybe people are a bit shy about posting their own pieces, but no need to hide out, get your stuff out there and let others provide some feedback so you can see what does and doesn’t work, and what folks are responding to. I’ll be posting some new stuff of my own this week which is a work in progress. Have fun, Che

Feedback on cymbals
Hey gang, Working on a new piece, and I like where it’s headed, but I’m trying to integrate some cymbals, and they sound like ass. What is the issue here? I can’t put my finger on it, can’t tell if I need to work on reverb, or a different instrument maybe or what. Maybe I’ve just listened to this piece too many times in a row. Take a listen and let me know what you think, it is only like a minute long: https://www.dropbox.com/s/3b5zed0vtyqi6u9/unplugged1.13.mp3?dl=0 Thanks, Che

Wizard of Oz trailer
Hey all, Below is a link to a project I assigned myself to create a modern trailer for The Wizard of Oz. The only thing I sampled for this was the dialogue from the movie, the rest I created, except for the opening melody, which is obviously Somewhere Over the Rainbow. For those interested, I used UVI’s Orchestral Suite for the symphonic instruments, and recorded my Strat through my Roland practice amp with distortion turned up for the ending power chords. It still needs some tweaking, I’m still trying to learn how to mix and master, but I think it is not horrible. Any feedback greatly appreciated, especially on how to make it sound better on cheap speakers. I think doing projects like this is the best way to learn Reaper personally. I’m striving to make each piece I submit better than the last. Here ya go: https://www.dropbox.com/s/06t1djozbwm27so/WizardsOhMy1.13.mp3?dl=0

New track needs mixing
Booga booga! I have posted this on the RWP list as well, sorry for the redundancy, but posting here in case anyone wants to get into more detailed breakdowns of blind artist’s submissions. As I’m learning the ins and outs of Reaper, I’ve been creating tracks with various elements so I can get a solid understanding of Reaper overall. Any feedback on the track I’ve linked to here would be appreciated. Also, what I would like to do with the track below is have someone that is experienced with mixing to take my stems and do a mix for a reasonable price, so I can learn from what they did and ask questions of their choices and process. If anyone is interested in doing a mix, feel free to respond here or email me off list if you like at: blindAdrenaline@... As it stands, I have done a very minimal mix on this, as I don’t really know jack about mixing at this point. Here ya go, thanks in advance for any constructive criticism: https://www.dropbox.com/s/j3wa26f7mgydydw/Fissures1.10.mp3?dl=0 Thanks all, Che

SwashBuckling take 2
2
Booga booga! Ok, here is a revision of the last piece I sent. It is somewhat better on the timings, and I think I’m starting to figure out a bit better how to quantize, but the strings are still a little wobbley. I adjusted and added somethings, and personally I think overall it sounds better and more cohesive than before. Anyhow, any feedback appreciated, it is only one minute 48 seconds. https://www.dropbox.com/s/costosifickutmn/SwashBuckling1.15.mp3?dl=0 Thanks yall. Che

Short orchestral piece
5
Hey all, sorry if you are getting this on the RWP list as well, I wanted to post to both places, hoping to get more folks to join us here so we can get more honest evaluation of our music. So after weeks of working with it in my off time, I finally felt I had enough experience with Reaper to try my hand at an actual project. I am going to be submitting this to the Audio Wizards competition in the next couple of days. I still need to tweak some timings, and I don’t know crap about how to properly mix and master, so I just have some minor panning and volume control going on for separation currently, but as far as the feel of the piece, it is basically finished. Here’s the link to the mp3. don’t let the opening flute throw you, it gets a bit more interesting soon. https://www.dropbox.com/s/2dixmle6rij2m9l/SwashBuckling11.mp3?dl=0 Thanks all for any feedback, positive, negative, or in between. Short piece, thinking of replacing cellos
8
Check this one out, right now I’m using cellos for the bass line, but the feel is too somber, so I will try laying down a guitar track instead later on. The drums I laid down a piece at a time, and did some quantizing. I played the piano live with no quantizing, trying to not make it sound so robotic. If you heard the track I posted over on the RWP list, this one has been changed a good bit. https://www.dropbox.com/s/2gkpvcgyzkica02/BARadioBed1.5.mp3?dl=1 Let me know what ya think, and please post your own stuff here. I look forward to hearing it, Che

War ain't Christmas
2
Hey all, I know it’s been mostly music posted both here and on RWP of late, but here is a piece I did recently while learning Reaper for some sound design I am working on. The setup here is a military squadron out on patrol in a post apocalyptic war zone, and they run across a hidden barely functioning siege android. It’s only 45 seconds, check it out and let me know what ya think if the mood strikes you. https://www.dropbox.com/s/jw24y7hx8cbya4e/cyber4.mp3?dl=1 Thanks, Che

Overwrought orchestral piece
Booga booga! Having recently purchased the UVI orchestra suite, I wanted to compose a short piece using it’s instruments. It is quite short, just a spin around the block really, and I haven’t done any separation or mixing yet. https://www.dropbox.com/s/j97resws3bmy2l4/seeker1.7.mp3?dl=1 Any advice greatly appreciated, I have some thoughts myself on some things that need to be adjusted, but wanted to get some feedback from outside my own brain first. Let me know what ya think. Che

Autery's pieces
2
Hey Autery, Sounds really good, the editing is tight, and I dig the bumpers and stingers you have in there. Did you compose some of the music beds in there as well? Thanks for the info on the exciters and so forth, I will be experimenting with all that later on.

Hello. I'm Yukio. I'm usually composing game music using cinematic / orchestral instruments. I've bought Komplete 12 and Komplete Kontrol in March, and it's absolutely great! I'm looking forward to listening / posting / discussing with members here.
