Moderated Bolivia book & volunteer op:

---------- Forwarded message ---------
From: Comunidad Inti Wara Yassi <friends@...>

Dear Judith,

Somehow we made it through 2020! Thank you for supporting CIWY through its most challenging?year ever. Political turmoil, pandemic, lockdown, forest fires... You all came through every time with donations and love from all around the world. We could not have managed without you!
Do we even want to look back on the past year?

Here are the numbers:
  • 96 volunteers in 2020 (Compared to 359 in 2019)
  • 39 animals rescued
  • 5 animals released
We managed to raise over $140,000 from YOU, our amazing supporters, and from trusts and foundations around the world. It was this that kept us going in the darkest of times.?
Name Auction Ends Today
In case you missed it, CIWY rescued a baby spider monkey last month, and it's time to give her a name. She was confiscated in the Central Market of Tarija, where she was chained as an attraction. Her captor would beat her to make her perform for customers.?

She should never have been taken from the wild in the first place, but we are glad that she is no longer being abused. At CIWY¡¯s Mach¨ªa Sanctuary, she has been warmly welcomed by the group of 17 rescued spider monkeys.?

What should her name be? Whoever makes the largest donation before midnight Saturday (Bolivia time) will have the honor of naming her! (The largest donation is currently ?426.)
Pre-Order Your Copy of !
Laura Coleman's rapturous memoir is now available for pre-order on Amazon. The Puma Years recounts her liberating journey as a volunteer with CIWY.?

Advance proceeds from the book have already helped us survive recent difficult months, and future sales will also help CIWY!

Pre-order today for a discounted price, and read about how life-changing volunteering at CIWY can be.?
"The?Puma?Years?is a fascinating glimpse into?the?lives of?the?animals rescued by Comunidad Inti Wara Yassi.?And it is?the?heartwarming story of?the?relationship that grew up between Laura?and a?puma, a relationship that only deepened over?the?years. I visited?the?sanctuary?years?ago ¨C what a wonderful place, dedicated staff and passionate volunteers.?
Engaging and inspiring ¨C you will love this book.
"

~?Jane Goodall (CIWY's Patron)
We hope you have all begun 2021 healthy and happy. Thank you for supporting our rescued animals during the hardest of times.

All the best,

The CIWY and FIWY teams
