New purchase

Just purchased an 878UVII plus from HRO. Trying to figure out how to program it for DMR in the northeast region. Still learning from DMR sites. Just joined a local club but haven’t gotten together with any members yet to learn codeplugs; I know this is the advice. Any advice from this group would be greatly appreciated.

Have anyone heard how to enter the service mode?.

I know only code what works old models is PTT+1 + pwr on radio displays area code

New models show trash on display

Area code not set on factory.

Yeah, it was great while it was free. Fortunately, Mark didn't change those
groups formed before that cutoff date and left them with their files, databases,
calendars, etc.

I understand that he can't just provide free groups forever. He started making
changes when Yahoo closed Yahoo Groups. That 1 GB of storage space you see on
the pricing page I linked to is for attachments like pictures. They aren't
stored permanently, but by the time we use up that amount of picture space, the
need for MOST of the pictures sent by email will be over.

You can use an off-site picture hosting service and link to any pictures you
want to. Whether they stay there permanently depends on the hosting service.

Any basic (free) group created after a certain date (I don't remember when) has no file storage. I believe you can attach a photo. When we exceed a certain storage limit in the message archives, the oldest attachments will be deleted as new ones take their place.

AnyTone AT-878UVII Plus analog APRS cannot be decodified by Direwolf

Hi all,

has anyone got success to receive and decode analog APRS frames to Direwolf from an AnyTone AT-878UVII Plus? I try EVERYTHING without success and I'm desperate 'cos I don't know what more can I change in Direwolf or AnyTone. I can see another APRS frames decoded succesfully from other stations. I review EVERYTHING: sound levels (I can hear in my PC), connections, ....

Although the APRS frames sent by Direwolf can be decoded succesfully by AnyTone.

Are you able to run the radio off a different power supply? Power supply problems can cause electronics to glitch, and I suspect the Anytone doesn't have the same level of filtering on it's incoming power as something like a Yaesu or Icom mobile.

I've left my D578UV3 v2 on overnight for several nights in a row and it continues to work as expected. I have managed to cause it to lock up if I try to upload a codeplug at the same time it is preparing to transmit an APRS beacon.

I recommend Always or Channel Free, the other two modes regarding Color Code are going to be for special rather unique repeater configurations that you're unlikely to run into in amateur radio. Choose option one for single timeslot simplex hotspots (those with one antenna), or working simplex with another DMR radio. Choose Repeater for working with commercial repeaters, duplex hotspots, or other radios if you agree on a frequency offset ahead of time.

I am using my own hotspot and home brew repeater. As far as I know, APRS is also permitted on Brandmiester

CAREFUL!
Most if not all, want that feature turned off as it uses too many resources. Remember, repeaters are personally owned and have the right to limit usage.

Check the stats of each repeater, as I have yet to see one that will allow that.

Brand new d578uviii plus, trying to get D-APRS working with Brandmiester. Currently it works as expected in analog mode, and digitally with Freestar SystemX. Not sure how to troubleshoot the Brandmiester connection.

My hotspots use BM3104 as the master. Radio is set to use TG 310999, current channel, current timeslot. Radio SMS format is set to Motorola. In Self-care radio type is set to Motorola. Hotspot shows DMR Data being sent to the Master, but the Master is not passing on the data to APRS-IS.

Suggestions?

Also does it depend of BT firmware version or updates?

I cannot find any information about these.

There is a current version of the firmware available at BridgeComm. It's 1.21 if that's not the version you're running.

Thanks. Bridge Comm is just a distributor of the radio.

Anytone really doesn't listen to the users. It's too bad, they could blow everyone else away if they would only be proactive and reactive to users.

Yes, I have experienced that as well as some other issues with this radio.

If I leave it on for a few days, I cannot shut it down by simply pressing the power button. I have to keep pressing it until the radio finally shuts down, usually a few seconds. The screen will go dim, then all white, then it shuts down.

I was going to reach out to BridgeComm and see if there is a firmware update, but just haven't done it yet.

578 Bug

Has anyone else experienced this with their Anytone AT578 mobiles?

After anywhere from 4-8 hours of leaving the radio on, If I try to TX on a DMR channel, it gets stuck with the red TX light on (it does not actually transmit). I have to power down the radio to reset it.

I am assuming it is a software bug. Wondering if anything similar is happening to anyone else.

mic and speaker gain levels are set to highest (5) in the HT. In the car audio system I cannot set anything because it no sounds. The HT are paired fine but it supposed that when radio (or USB audio) sounds and you push PTT (in HT or remote) the radio sound are muted while you speak or receive by the AnyTone.
