In winding L2 I find I cannot get 7 turns done I am a little short - maybe not strong enough to pull it tighter.

My questions. I have 18 gauge wire - is that adequate to create L2 or do I need 20 gauge.

I can get 20 gauge at aliexpress but it probably is not silver coated and finish is not TFE.

I found it at one vendor but the min length is 100 ft. at an insane price.

Can I use 20 gauge PVC wire - no silver coating.

IF not can I buy another piece from K9HZ.

This is an expansion.
I have ordered backup thru aliexpress. Just shipped. See in 2-3 weeks. Not a problem. $1.39 a yard rarher than $12 a foot-quite a difference I want to build V012 so waiting till available.?
Following comments I have ordered screen and teensy-thru PJRC? and now know I can get it thru degikey which has office in Canada.
Also ordered a 120v-3.3v converter from aliexpress as I don't have that voltage on my bench. May be noisy but hopefully adequate for testing.

I became a ham in Dec 2021. Passed Basic with Honours. So I am very new.

I can’t send a picture since I tried 3 times to do the winding so it would look like your picture. The last time taking it apart I didn’t pay enough attention and lost the FT50-43 toroid.

I always seemed to be short about a half inch. I used vice to hold toroid, alligator to hold first end and pulled hard- no luck – and wire piece measures 6 inches.

Comments and questions:

1. Can I use any 20 gauge coated wire or is special wire required?
2. I can buy toroid from kits and parts. I requested a quote on 3 ft of the wire from NNC if they will sell me such a small amount. Siill waiting their quote.
3. Can I buy replacement parts from you? Both parts of L2 2ft wire and toroid.. I am in Canada and how would I pay you?

It is going well. By my counting I get 10 1/2 loops before I run out of room in the center. I have not quite finished for 2 reasons,
1. I read your notes, recently got a teensy and display and have been trying to understand how to make that work. I have some of the software pieces set but haven't got all the referenced libraries down loaded yet.
2. To test your unit I need more test equipment. With xmas coming budget is a bit strained and I need to wait to buy some of the equipment. In particular a TinySA Ultra which acts as a signal generator. I have a lot to learn so I am taking step by step.
I appreciate all the assistance that you have offered.
I am also waiting for v012 boards to be published. I need them and a few of the others.
I am certainly as knowledgeable as most of the others in this group but I enjoy the learning and building aspect the most.
