Re: Sourcing HF41 relays

If you search in AliExpress on HF41 relay hongfa, there are several links.

?

Re: Sourcing HF41 relays

When you click the link, the pictures of the relays appear for a split second, then it say cannot be found. Maybe they are out of stock.

New T41 site now available

Hi Everyone,
I have created, with Jack's help, a new site all about the T41-EP at:
?
This is an 'information and background site" for the T41, not an open forum - this site or the? SCHR groups.io site are the places for posting comments/suggestions about the T41.
?
I intend to post lots of photos of user-built T41 rigs. I have a few already included, but would like more. If I get enough, I will create a separate gallery page of just T41 builds.
Photos should be sent to me directly at albertfpeter@... with a brief explanation. I reserve the right to edit any comments for brevity.
Let me know what you think.
Regards,
Al Peter

This is a good video and should convince others that soldering SMD parts to a PCB isn't that tough. Keep in mind, this is a difficult part to solder to a board. By comparison, a 1206 SMD resistor or cap is child's play. This technique can also be used on the Si5351 which is probably one of the hardest parts to solder in the T41. If my fat fingers and poor eyes can do it, anyone can.

Re: Checking my math

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

It all looks right except your maximum power from the Hermes is 72 mW so that would be your reference.? What if you wanted to use the amp with your Hermes on 40M?? [72 mW ¨C 1 mW] is [17.5 dBm ¨C 0 dBm]¡ so 17.5 dBm pad.? Now calculate your resistors¡? That way it still works for 10M too.

Subject: [AmateurRadioBuilders] Checking my math

?

Hi all

?

I have just completed my first 20 amp build.?

This is my first foray into surface mount soldering and I think all has gone well.

Really cool stuff.

?

I am building this amp to accompany a Hermes Lite to turn it into a full 15w blowtorch.

The Hermes has an "RF Out" that bypasses the internal 5 Watt PA.

?

I have measured that output on all bands.

It ranges from 72mws on 10 meters

Down to 42mw on 40 meters.

?

My hunch is to calculate the Pi Attenuator for 41 mw.? Is that a good bet?

?

Here are my numbers - check me out and let me know what will be best.??

I failed Algebra 2 in High School.

?

?To attenuate 42 mw to 1mw, I need to attenuate 41mw or 16.12 db

?

The values I come up with are

68.5276

156.026

68.5276

?

So real values

68

160

68

?

Does this look right to you guys ?

What would you all suggest?

?

Thanks again for this great group.

Looking forward to building the T41 !

Re: Back in the Saddle

I turn the airflow as low as possible on my Yihua 948 hot air tool and keep the temperature high.??
Applying background heat helps A LOT, I usually place the board on a 100¡ãC hot plate for a while before starting work.? It won't damage anything nor will it reflow anything but it will make the hot air tool MUCH more effective.??
I don't use heat shields and I cannot recall the last time I melted something or blew a part into orbit. Even in the event it happens, if you have a clean, uncluttered work surface (I know, I know...) you should be able to find it pretty easily.? Those blue silicone mats are very helpful in this regard.
Surface tension, especially with plenty of flux, is surprisingly strong and things seem to stay in place pretty well if you keep the windspeed low, the board level, and the solder liquid.? I have a chunk of aluminum plate I (carefully) put the boards on to cool when I am done.

Make a heat shield out of al foil, hole in the middle, with the other parts covered.?
Low flow of air, take your time, tweezer it back into position.?
