Unboxing and first test. Lab Impex Systems SmartCAM ALPHA, now owned and sold by ULTRA Energy, U.K. All the parts, keys, AC connector, head remote cable, fittings, sensor head with a preinstalled filter card. and control box, came with the unit (eBay buy) needed to set it up and let it runs. It is billed as a completely stand-alone Alpha Air monitor. As it sits it requires a small source of vacuum, to pull air across the filter so particles of dust etc. can be deposited there to be analyzed by the two large area sensors in the head. I used a small Eberline pump from my radon flask outfit to test the unit. Everything is EXTREMELY well made, hospital or NPP grade, even the control box housing is stainless steel. The onboard computer is custom made by the manufacturer and runs on WINDOWS CE. Soon as power is applied the large color touch screen lights up and shows the boot-up as it automatically loads itself.
