Re: Nick's first unit run
Yes that's what it's for. But I didn't. My China air filters are here...where! George Sent from my LG Phoenix 3, an AT&T 4G LTE smartphone ------ Original message------ From: Nick Andrews Date: Sat, Jun 25, 2022 6:50 PM To: [email protected]; Cc: Subject:Alpha and Beta particle nuclear decay studies. Nick's first unit run Okay this has been running about 90 minutes.? I turned off all the fans last night and the door was closed from about 11pm to 5pm.? Factory filter installed.? Using Dud's setting parameters.? Haven't gotten the second unit wired up yet.?
By the way,? should the hot lead be looped through and around the ferrite ring?? |

Re: FOCUS: Air Filters for Radiation Detection
Just the included sample.? ?I did get a roll of material in the mail I was going to try punching circles from and also see if I can determine the thickness tolerance of the sensor head.? Been crazy busy.? Flying to Lexington for work Monday,? back Wednesday,? driving to NM Saturday for the week of the 4th, then flying to Fayetteville,? NC the week after that for a site visit.? Have to finish offloading my 16' trailer this weekend to haul to NM for hopefully the last trip to finish cleaning out the house there for sale.? ?Moved a good thousand pounds tonight.? About 400# of lead bars,? couple Welch vacuum pumps,? 300 or so # of copper wire,? etc.?? Ironically I'll prolly leave about 40sf of 1/4" diamond plate I just hauled here on and take it back there to a buddy in ABQ who has a bunch of recent auction winnings and some flat 1/4" plate,? etc I'll pick up.?? And trying to clean up and install barrels in a few old S&W model 10 38spl, and try to machine threads on a test 30cal barrel for a muzzle brake trial.? Next, if it follows past experiences it wil make 2 stops in St. Louis, which is EAST of me, one stop in Hazelwood MO, and finally to my local post office. Unless it is forwarded to another person's address in Hazelwood, OH WAIT!. The mother-daughter team at the Hazelwood distribution got caught doing that and are oin federal prison now..... Maybe with luck it will be here mid July. Remember it took only 6 days from date of order to arriving in USA. A couple of months ago I was sweating an important delivery that was sent from China by boat! Took about 20 days in all, including the stateside built-in custom delays and all. Geo |

Re: FOCUS: Air Filters for Radiation Detection
No not here yet, but clearing customs is typically the big delay. Now it willo go from California to New Jersey, o9r some other hub and bounce back and forth across Missouri before landing in St. Louis. From there it and still be 3 to 6 days before I get it. No wonder thoe cost o9f postage will go up on Jily 10th, with several more "uncomfortable"n i8ncrease to follow. Re: FOCUS: Air Filters for Radiation Detection
Geo, that's not terrible at all.? The package from you arrived yesterday.? I didn't open the tin last night.? I want to do it in a less dusty area with gloves to try and prevent contamination of the material. I think my punch set goes to about 1.25", not sure of the width of that material yet.? I haven't checked yet but I am assuming the sensor heads will accept a double layer of cardstock with the filter sammiched between.? Really trying to get the trailer cleaned off to do another round of junk hauling!? I only have this week and weekend as I am flying to Lexington Monday-Wed, then driving to NM on Saturday the 2nd.? That'll only be another $600+ for fuel at least plus around $200 to drive from Las Cruces to ABQ and back on Thursday the 7th to get my LN2 dewar and other auction goodies from my buddy there.? So time is a little limited right now.
