Trace Port Window autostart?
Hi Lynn and group,
1) Is it possible to Autostart the Trace (Port) window when we fire APRSIS? Now when we first enable it and then we close APRSIS32, the first time we close it the program asks once if we want it to auto start across restarts. I answer yes there, but it never autostarts. I always have to autostart it and the only thing it does is that if I start it manually, it remembers that I had it enabled. Is this how it works? 2) Also if it is not difficult, is it possible to make our transmitted PACKETS nopt show all the HEX codes? Now when I send my BEACON it looks like this in the Trace (port) window: Port(TM-D700):2024-01-12T11:36:15.534 Sent[62]:<C0 00 82 A0 AE AE>bb<E0 A6 AC>b<AA B2>@b<AE 92 88 8A>d@e<03 F0>@113614h/;=IdTN`^- sTDemetre, WLNK-1<C0> I think it would be much better and it would make more sense to the user if it looked as follows: Port(TM-D700):2024-01-12T11:36:19.750 KISS:SV1UY-1>APWW11,WIDE2-2:@113614h/;=IdTN`^- sTDemetre, WLNK-1 (45) -- 73 de Demetre SV1UY (M0SUY) APRS: 1st & best Social Network for Radio Amateurs |

APRSIS32 doesn't automatically open tracelog windows at all on a restart, but as the close dialog asks, it is remembering the enabled status of the trace.

The Port() tracelogs are mainly for diagnosing port and protocol issues.? As such, the hex characters are EXACTLY what is transmitted on a KISS-type port, so that's why they are shown in that fashion.?? The AX.25 header is bit-shifted to the left rendering it unreadable, but most APRS packet payloads are humanly readable, which is why they're visible. Thanks for reply Lynn,
It would be nice to be able to have a decent Monitor in APRSIS32 sometime. Not so important but I hope you put it in your TODO list for a rainy day that you are bored! Hi Lynn and group,
I think it would be very useful to be able to trace our own transmitted frames in a way readable to mere humans, i.e. not in HEX! Then we would be able to make sure we are transmitting the correct PATH at an eyeglance! So please at least do this or put it in your TODO list! -- 73 de Demetre - SV1UY (M0SUY) INTERNET e-mail: demetre.sv1uy@... Enable the Transmit trace log and it will show the humanly readable packets as well as whether they are destined for IS, RF, or both (or even Internal).

Enables / Ports / Log All will also cause APRSIS32 to produce *.PKT files that contain all? RF handled packets, both transmit and receive, IIRC.?? Don't have time right now to double-check that in the source. Lynn (D) - KJ4ERJ - Author of APRSISCE for Windows Mobile and Win32 On 1/19/2024 5:12 AM, Demetre - SV1UY (M0SUY) wrote:
