APRSISCE for Windows Mobile and Win32
/g/APRSISCE
Welcome to the APRSISCE/32 Support Group PLEASE READ AT LEAST FIRST 2 PARAGRAPH'S BELOW THIS LINE
Note: When requesting membership, Please supply NAME and CALLSIGN as it appears on YOUR LICENCE! This is our way of keeping spammers at bay. And we'll get your membership approved! APRSISCE/32 is intended for licensed amateur radio operators only and that privilege comes with the responsibility of identification by CALLSIGN. It's really not that hard.
We can only supply passcodes for licensed Radio Amateurs who are using APRSISCE/32
PLEASE SEND PASSCODE REQUESTS TO THE OWNERS EMAIL ADDRESS ! >>>>>>>>>>> APRSISCE+owner@groups.io <<<<<<<<<<<<<
Failure to follow the above may cause delay in membership or passcode requests, Please help us to help you! The same passcode works on most clients you may have used such as uiview and so on.
This group is for hints, tips, and support of KJ4ERJ's SK APRSISCE APRS-IS client for Windows Mobile (CE) and now Windows both 32 and 64 bit versions. The software will also work on Linux under WINE.
APRSISCE on Windows Mobile works best on a device with an internal GPS and an unlimited data connection. It displays OpenStreetMap.org maps in realtime as you move and zoom.
APRSIS32 works on Windows machines (including 7/8 as a non-administrator) and is otherwise a near-duplicate of APRSISCE so you can have one program on both your home and mobile platforms.
Membership is moderated, but conversations in the group are not. For the record, the group's charter is as follows:
1) To field problem reports, questions, and announcements related to APRSISCE/32
2) To field enhancement requests and solicit justification for said requests
3) To discuss topics related to APRS usage in general - although these may be deflected to the aprssig
4) To allow some information exchange and casual discussion among APRSISCE/32 users
For the latest information on APRSISCE, please visit the Wiki at http://aprsisce.wikidot.com/startTue, 20 Jan 2009 20:36:44 -0800Passcode Requests

If you have a Icom Radio like the 7100 or 9700 that has a builded in sound card all you need is a USB Cable and the UISS software package to do APRS from the ISS. The frequency is 145.825 up/down. Mode will be FM-D if you have the Icom Radio. If you have a Kenwood D72 or Kenwood D74, it is builded in aprs. Basically if you don't have a radio that covers two meters with a build in sound card, you will need a interface to connect your radio to your computer. I suggest using the software UISS for sending and receiving aprs messages and data. DE AI4LL

jblake8061@... (Jack L. Blake Sr (AI4LL))Mon, 31 Mar 2025 19:01:56 -0700Re: APRS

Soundmodem is simple. Just download
Soundmodem114.zip and ptt-dll.zip (if you are going to use a
soundcard). Unzip both to the same folder and go from there.
Direwolf is a bit more intense to set up but there are how to
video out there for both. Soundmodem is a Windows program and
Direwolf supports several other as well. QTSoundmodem works with
Linux.
Well, USB->Serial dongles are inexpensive and work fine.聽 Any PC
can have a serial port.

I have two digital systems here in the Shack.聽 One uses an old MFJ
1278T TNC and the aforementioned USB dongle, along with APRSIS32
software to act as an iGate, and the other uses Direwolf on a
Raspberry Pi as the TNC for several apps including YAAC, LinPac, and
Pat (winlink).聽 By far the hardware TNC is easier to set up, but the
software TNCs do a better job at decoding imperfect signals.
