Potential for Northern Lights
Earlier today, a coronal mass ejection from a recent solar flare has reached Earth, and sparked a strong geomagnetic storm. As of 5:17PM, the NOAA Space Weather Prediction Center is predicting the aurora view line to extend south of us. Skies are predicted to be very clear tonight, giving a nice view if the aurora becomes visible here More than likely, the best times to potentially view the northern lights should be between 9PM and 11PM. One last note, cameras can view the lights much stronger than our eyes can, so try and take your phone camera out and see if you see can see it. Thanks, Alex KE8VXG

A Past Presidents Reflections
Good morning everyone: I had the great honor of serving AARC through the Covid incident as your President 2018-2023. I would like our newer members to get more involved in our weekly "On Air" nets. For me it was exciting to join in with the more experienced club operators and learn by doing or as we called it in the Air Force OJT(on the job training). Let me share with you a little hint, have your dual band Radio on in your home while you are at home and remember to unplug it if you leave your home for work other activities. The only way you get comfortable "playing radio" as a newer ham is get involved even if your only listening to other operators in a QSO(conversation). Jump in when you can, the more the merry All newer hams should have a mentor. Mentors help you through the begining phases of learning the ins and outs of ham radio, remember for the most part, each of us started right where you are, remember the famous saying " I know nothing". One day the light will go on, my gosh why haven't I been doing the simple things in my hobby of ham radio? Just a couple more items' 1. Pick a mentor from the club 2. Come to monthly breakfasts 3. Come to monthly meetings. 4. Up grade your license Tech to General General to Extra 5. A good book for your ham Library: AARL Operating Manual for Amateur Radio about $25. At DX Engineering in Summit Racing Well for me it's back listening to My dual band mobile Radio at home. I'm cracking the books working on My Extra license and then CW 73 Ron KE8HCY Past President Emeritus Alliance Amateur Radio Club
