Was it In The 2nd printing of the first edition the 12th step was changed to read THESE steps instead of THOSE steps. I know it went back and forth in the 2nd printing. ? Also Herbert Spencer qoute was originally the first line of Ray Campbells Storey ¡°An Artists Concept¡±. In the 2nd printing Bill dropped Rays storey but stole quote and moved it to the Spiritual Experience.? A side note: there are two known errors in the Big Book. One is June 10th and the other is Herbert Spencer did write that quote.? if Im wrong about this would you most great and knowledgable intellects please tell us facts.? sincerely |

I think thats pretty neat Irene! ?Does the 12 step say these steps or those steps??
On the blank page, just prior to the title page is the following:? "? ? ? ? ? ? ? IMPORTANT NOTICE ..This is a war time printing and is complete and unabridged in contents.? While the type face remains unchanged, the book has been drastically reduced in size and weight in? order to conform with Government regula- tions for saving paper."? ..? Irene R. |

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýI had read somewhere that it wasnt until 1959, the 4th or 5th printing of the 2nd edition that it was changed to these steps. I think its awesome so many people have so many early editions. ?

I checked my first printing of the 12 & 12 ( April 1953 with the code D-C) and the wording in step 12 is "these steps" and yet the first printing of the second edition of the Big Book has, in How it Works, step 12, the wording is "those steps" and that was published two years later in 1955. Oh well, just another "huh ?' in our history.
