Hitch

Is there a formula for figuring out ball height of the hitch? I feel like mine is too low. When I purchased, the dealer measured and came up with a 2 inch height, but I have since changed cars

The manufacturer usually suggests the hitch height.? Generally, you want the trailer to ride level when loaded for road travel.? Put a level on the tongue to determine whether your hitch is low,

thanks

I personally think the back should be slightly lower. When I bought a used classic in Pa and was towing it back to NC I drove thru some heavy rain about an hour from home. The trailer hitch I had on was straight out so the front of camper was slightly low. Water leaked in from the back panel to front where it rests on the foam. It caused a little damage as it caused the thin vinyl layer on inside to separate from wood that its glued to. Not serious but never looked the same. Did my best to get it dry so mold wouldn¡¯t grow.
I replaced the hitch with one that curves up so camper is mostly level with a slight tilt to the back. Just my 2 cents worth.

Hap is right.? Back lower than front, so water that inevitably runs around seal on back roof doesn't migrate inside trailer.

Hitches come in 1/2" height increments.? You won't get exactly level, so pick the one with the front of trailer slightly higher.
