Locked Late Night Lab Work (Victor/Elizabeth)

The rolling thunder of an approaching storm had awakened Victor. He had indulged in considerably more alcohol than that to which he was accustomed that particular evening, so he was surprised at having awakened so soon. This is useless, he said into the empty air after having tossed and turned in a vein effort to once more reclaim sleep. The sound of thunder always reminded him of the night he had created Frank, it was an unpleasant memory for him, but it also held promise, his belief was that lightning itself held the very promise of life, as well as the prominent threat of death, depending on when and how it was used. He arose from his bed, somewhat annoyed, but feeling that this particular night held some sort of promise, as if this was a night for¡ Something, as if something were in the air, as if the very air vibrated with electricity; it must be that dratted youth potion of mine, I thought it would help me avoid a hangover the next morning, but it's working too good for my own good, he grumbled to himself, not paying any attention to his rather Poor use of grammar at the moment. It was a rejuvenating potion, but in times like this, he often shortened it to simply¡ Youth¡ Potion. Having dressed and having made himself A rather strong cup of coffee, he dawned his coat, and casually picked up one of the bottles of rejuvenating potion for another sip before heading out into the night toward his lab. His intention had been to take a few sips, then replace the bottle on the table before heading out, but his own label caught his eye¡ Rejuvenating potion, he mused allowed. He spoke now as if a colleague were present, why I don't think I have tried¡ What if I¡ He tightened the lid, placed the bottle in his pocket, and headed out into the crisp, stormy night. The wind whipped at his coat, seeming to challenge and dare him to proceed forward with this new idea; he hardly noticed as he took brisk steps, ever closer, closer to his lab, closer to the treasure that was there. Once inside, he quickly assembled the needed apparatus, and tried the previous experiment, determined to try it twice more without¡ The potion, before adding it. Both times he received the same result, spastic, unorganized movements of the limbs, but no real life, no words, seemingly nothing. Time for a change, he murmured, as he carefully added a single drop of rejuvenating potion, and tried again. The movements were more organized this time, but the eyes still remained closed; two drops, he stated as he added another drop, and tried again. This time, it looked as if she were trying to sit up, the arms and legs moved more, and the movements were more in sequence; the eyelids flutter, and Victor's expression turned very hopeful. So close, yet, closeness is an infinite distance until perfection is achieved, he murmured. The lab was so quiet, that a casual observer could have heard the clink clinking as he took more potion from the bottle into the dropper, three, four, five¡ Six, seven, drop by careful drop, he added the potion to the conglomeration of parts. No one would likely hear anything that went on in the lab that night, unless they happened to be in close proximity at that hour. Now, the lightning!¡ once more he brought the lightning, as he called in desperation¡ Elizabeth! My Elizabeth! Live! You, must¡ Live! Come, my beloved, emerge into the world of the living! Live!!! With the other trials, he had made notes in his journal of the various results, but now, he stepped back, his expression filled with hope, to observe, both with the clinical interest of a scientist, and the hope and anticipation of one who just knew¡ That this¡ Was the night, for life. Hopeful anticipation gave way to present joy as her eyes actually opened, and Victor stepped forward; taking her hand, he softly spoke her name, Elizabeth?¡ Are you¡ Is it really you? Are you¡ With me???

God loves you.

?Time had no meaning for Elizabeth in what she liked to think of as?
the void.? Nothing changed for her but everything around her had?
changed.? In truth she floated without much awareness which was the way?
she liked it.? It hurt too much to be aware.? The world was moving on?
without her and she couldn't fully join in or leave which she found?
agonizing.? She'd felt herself maintaining longer periods of awareness?
of late though of which she wasn't happy.? What had changed, she?
wondered idolly.

???? For this reason she was startled to feel something happening to?
her.? It had been so long since anything had happened to her. She felt?
herself inexeribly drawn to this body, her body was it? She didn't?
wonder how her body was still around since in a way time had no meaning?
for her and in fact she wasn't sure how much time had passed.? Slowly?
but surely she was drawn back into this body.? Her body jerked randomly?
she had no way of stopping it. She opened her eyes and sat up after a?
bit.? However she was too astonished at her new surroundings to say much?
or even think much.

???? "Victor," she asked her tone sounding oddly childlike to her own?
ears.? She squeezed his hands rather hard and continued staring.? She?
didn't realize the strength of her grip.

Was he dreaming? Could this be real? Victor didn't know, was not absolutely certain that he was actually hearing what he was hearing; had she just spoken? Had she actually said his name, but the squeeze on his hands, the pain¡ Made him realize that yes, not only was she alive, but he also¡ Was very much alive, alive and, quite capable of feeling pain. ?A part of him ?actually reveled in the pain for a few seconds before it became unbearable. Oh, my Elizabeth! Yes, yes my dearest love it is I, and you¡ You are alive! ?They were ?both members of Victorian society, but they were, after all, quite alone in so far as they knew. ?Here, let's do this, he encouragedd as he gently pulled his hands away, replacing them with his arms around her in a more intimate embrace; oh my dearest Elizabeth, my long lost, and now found, love of my life. ?It was one of the rare times when Victor actually felt passionate, for she was far more precious to him than even the most current scientific discovery, be it one of his own, or that of someone else. ?He longed to hold her, to kiss her, to share their wedding night that they had not gotten to have, right then and there, that early morning in the lab, but he realized that all of this might be frightening to her; she was in fact, very much like a new creation. ?Midnight head come, and had shortly past, so it would be several glorious hours until dawn, until they might have to leave for different surroundings, or whatever might happen that day. ?He gently kissed her lips, then stepped back to observe her, you are as beautiful, as lovely as ever, he complemented, even death itself could not take away your ravishing beauty. He would await her response before stating, right now, the first thing we must do is get you something to eat; I have a few things at home. ?Then he remembered that he had brought a few things with him from his home, here, bread, cheese, some meat and a bit of fruit for you, here you are my love. He began handing them to her slowly,??wondering if she would remember how to eat. Do you remember? He did not mind if he had to feed her, right now he would not mind doing anything for her, so wonderfully glad he was to have her back. Now, things would likely be as they were before, they could even have another wedding if she wanted, they would have their wedding night, and live blissfully together as husband and wife; children would likely be born soon, he thought to himself, as he watched her reaction to the food. How wonderful it will be to have sons and daughters to carry on my legacy, he thought to himself, as a stray thought appeared out of nowhere, like a ?note of disharmony??in a lovely Melody, it was the thought of Rena, telling him of her grandfather named¡ Frank. ?A slight frown touched his lips, and left them equally as quickly; who knows, he thought to himself, perhaps now that I have her back, maybe I can even forgive Frank. He decisively pushed all thoughts of Frank, Rena, and everything and everyone else from his mind. He was now glad of Renas earlier rejection of him, who needed her now anyway, since he had his Elizabeth back by his side. ?Giving her a warm smile, he stated, I don't believe I have known this much happiness and joy since¡ Since our wedding day before¡ Before I lost you. ?He felt as though he should be feeding her soup right now, but there was no soup in the lab at present, so they would have to get that elsewhere. ?Either that, or he would have to make it, which of course, he would not mind doing, not for her.???? ???

God loves you.

? ? ?"Where, what when, how," she trailed off unable to complete a?
sentence.? She was confused frustrated but happy nevertheless. Who?
wouldn't be after spending eternity in nothingness.? Elizabeth hugged?
Victor back rather tentatively realizing on some level she was quite?
strong for some reason.? Had Victor done that for her. She owed her life?
to him didn't she?? There were so many things she was unsure of at the?
moment.

???? She took the bread and cheese from him and began eating. Her?
attempts were tentative at best but after the first mouth full she was?
introduced to a new feeling one she didn't remember with this much?
clarity.? Hunger gnawed at Elizabeth making her try to wolf down the?
entire contents.? She heard Victors caution however but barely managed?
to restrain herself.

???? "Can I have more," she asked.? Sit and talk to me, tell me all,"?
she said her words a bit halted.? She had to work to communicate and?
make herself understood.

Victors smile was warm and his eyes met hers in an expression of eternal, undying love and affection, as he watched her eat. ?He gently touched her shoulder when she began with her litany of questions; easy there love, it's all right, you are¡ In my laboratory, I just now returned you to the world of the living. You are already quite strong. ?Of course you can have more, you can have everything I have, he assured her, as he handed her more cheese and bread. That's it now, his voice was calm, gentle as he guided and instructed her, one bite at a time, that's it, there is no need to hurry, no need to eat too fast. ?Now and then, he would tear off a small bite of the food, and hold it to her lips, encouraging her, open up, that's right. ?Let's sit here a while, he first pulled up a chair for her, then took one for himself and sat beside her. ?You have not been away from the world of the living for very long, he told her, the year is 1893, and not too much has happened, I believe the one who took your life has¡ Gone, gone somewhere far away where he cannot bother us again. ?But even as he spoke these words, he seemed to hear a distant, haunting voice in his mind, why, father? Why didn't you feed me? Why¡ Did you not ?sit and talk to¡ Me, and teach¡ Me? ?He did his best to mentally silence the voice, hoping to push it entirely from his mind, as he put an arm around Elizabeth, and gazed into her eyes; you are as lovely, as beautiful as ever. Would you like still more to eat? Or, have you had enough for now? His tone was soft, calm and gentle, as he stroked her hair, and tenderly touched and stroked her cheek. ?The other accomplishments that may be to my credit, I count as nothing, as less than nothing, in comparison to having brought you back to my side. ?Now, we can have the life together that we were never allowed the chance to have, because of¡ Him. The last word, referring to Frank, was tinged with a bit of anger, a bit of a lingering resentment, like the rotten stench of an experiment gone awry. ?He felt he could experience no deeper joy, no deeper happiness, except of course, for the ghost, which brushed the edges of his mind with its unrelenting question¡ Why¡ Father??

God loves you.

? Elizabeth was too busy eating to return Victor's smile.? She?
accepted the bread from his fingers making sure to only take the bread.??
He'd kissed her hadn't he?? She's been too shocked to respoind.

???? "To be living that means I was dead.? And dead for some time. No?
more food," she answered distractedly.? Who killed me? And why," she?
added.? She sluped a bit in the chair overwhelmed by everything.? So?
much to process and she had no idea where to start.? Victor must think a?
lot of her but what did she think of him?? How well did she know him?

???? "I need to think," I'm overwhelmed.? Is it possible for me to have?
a bath," she asked.? "I really feel like I need one," she added.? She?
suddenly longed for some scented soap.

Very well, Victor replied to Elizabeth when she said she wished no more food. I am glad to see that you are eating well though. ? He looked sad when she spoke of being dead for some time, and he had to glance a way to hide a flash of anger in his eyes when she asked who killed her, and why. His anger was not toward her, but toward the one who had been her killer. ?Giving a soft sigh, he made his eyes meet hers as he stated, the one who killed you was¡ Well, it was my creation, regrettably, I¡ I thought I could make someone, make a man that was strong, intelligent, and a credit to me, to science, but he¡ became a monster, in fact I believe he was¡ A monster from the beginning. ?He somehow learned to speak later on, but he was extremely jealous, and he killed you because¡ His tone took on a hint of anger, well because I would not make him¡ A wife, I would not make a female to be with him, and why would I, they might have populated the world, over populated it with monsters. ? It was his own monstrous, mad jealousy which brought about your death my love, and for that, I am truly sorry, although I know that does not make it right. ?He began gently rubbing her shoulders then as he continued, please, do not think that I am angry at you for asking the question, you have every right to know, my anger is¡ Toward him, not you, had he at least tried to understand why I would not fashion a wife for him, he could have shown himself to be evolving into a man, but no¡ ?he took the strength and intelligence which I gave him, and chose to become a monster with it. I did not make the monster, I made the man, he¡ Created the monster. ?He smiled with delight when she asked if she might have a bath, of course you can have a bath, he could not help but chuckle. I remember, you used to really fancy that soap that had the pleasant fragrance to it, I bought some of that for you when I first started attempting to bring you back; I believe you liked¡ Rose and, was it¡ Lavender??

God loves you.

? ? ?"People, you created a person, what for?? What purpose did that?
serve?? Why could you not protect me from my death," she asked.? Victor?
made a monster, did that make her a monster?? Would he turn on her if?
she didn't satisfy him in any way he wanted?? So far he'd been nothing?
but kind to her so why should he?? Was she always suspicious.? She?
supposed she had the right to feel an entire array of emotions at this?
point.? She was actually having trouble processing all the information?
Victor was giving her.? She was mainly on autopilot as far as her?
responses went.

???? "Yes it was lavender and Rose.? I think," she added.? "You?
probably know much more of my likes and dislikes than I do.? I must?
confess I don't even remember getting married to you.? I know I was?
going to marry you but that's when my memory goes blank. Except for a?
lingering feeling she'd not liked where she'd been passing her time?
since being on the earth.

Victor actually looked uneasy when Elizabeth began asking him what purpose the creation served, and why he could not have protected her from her death. ?He was rather hesitant in his reply, as I recall, I did all that I could, I am not sure exactly what, or how I tried to fight him, but I'm certain that I did; as far as your question about what purpose The creation??served, I wanted to create life, to know the forces that drive mankind's ?very existence. ?I wanted to create someone with superior intelligence, someone with a body that was healthy and strong, so that we, through scientific study might learn how to better our selves. ?You remember how I always was, don't you? He searched her eyes for some faint recollection, some distant ghost of a memory that might tell him that she knew, that she remembered and understood. ?He placed a hand gently on the back of hers, hoping she would not brush it away, or show some signs of rejection to him; now darling, please let me assure you, just because that man¡ The one that I created, was a monster, that doesn't mean that you¡ are a monster. ? You, are my own, dear loving wife, and yes, we had the wedding; but after you have had time to think, if you don't remember it, or if you wish another ceremony for us to renew our vows, we can have that. ?He gave a warm chuckle when she stated that he probably knew more of her likes and dislikes then she did; you will remember with time, I'm sure of it, but if some of those have changed, for whatever reason, all you have to do is let me know. ?Unfortunately, I¡ He blushed a bit, looking rather embarrassed, I don't have bathing facilities here in the lab, we shall have to go home. ?He thought that it was a good thing he had kept most if not all of her clothing, refusing to give it away, sell it, or discard it. ?I still have your clothing at home, all the favorite dresses that you used to wear, and¡ He looked into the bag, I have carried this with me, just in case I was ever able to have the privilege of bringing you back, it's¡ It's your favorite dress, the one that you always used to wear for me. ?He pulled it out of the bag, and held it up to her, do you remember? He watched and waited, his eyes hopeful, hoping that when she saw it, she would?? remember it.

God loves you.

? ? ?"I remember you wanted to work in your lab all the time. One?
experiment after the other. Or maybe many experiments designed with a?
goal in mind.? I remember bits and pieces of my life with you.? I?
remember more from childhood but yes I have some memory of you.? Not so?
much of us though.? I'm sorry that hurts you as you know all about me?
and I'm at a loss to interact appropriately. Patience was never my?
strong suit, I hope my knowledge comes back soon.? I feel disconcerted?
confused and out of my depth here.? I couldn't speak ten minutes ago and?
I can string sentences together with little effort now.? Just what does?
this life you've given me contain.? I'm faster and stronger.? Am I?
smarter than I was," she inquired.

? ? ? Had Victor done all he could to save her, she honestly didn't?
know who to trust.? For now it would be Victor who looked at her with?
nothing other than love.? For now he seemed to have no other agenda.??
She was going to enjoy it and make the most out of this opportunity.

???? "Let's go to yoru place.? What's the mode of transportation?
nowadays," she said.? "Am I dressed appropriately, no of course not.??
"Do you have anything here I could put on," she asked victor.? She?
squeezed his hand when he placed it on hers not wanting to reject him.??
She knew he was disappointed she didn't remember a lot but hopefully it?
would come and at a faster speed just like other faculties were quickly?
returning.? For that she owed Victor a heart-felt thank you.

Victor gave Elizabeth a warm smile, no worries, I am quite certain your memory will return to you in time, and yes, it is quite amazing the way you are already putting sentences together and speaking. He ? thought to himself that it was so unlike his first creation, so unlike what had happened with Frank, Frank had frighten him with the noises, yet being so big, strong, and able to move about, yet unable to communicate. It ? will all come back to you, I know it will, he reassured her. ?He ?smiled when she spoke of him wanting to experiment in the lab all the time, but then his face crew more serious, I am sorry for that, I will still do some lab work, but I promise this time I will spend much more time with you, and much less time in the lab. ? she would likely see the love in his eyes as he explained, ?I did¡ Use a bit of brain ?enhancing potion, but, you were already intelligent, even before that, when you were alive before, it always amazed me how you seemed to know just when ?to send letters to encourage me. ?As I recall, you always encouraged my work. He nodded ?when she asked about the mode of transportation, transportation is still fairly consistent with when you were alive before, he told her. I could call a handsum, you remember, the carriages pulled by horses that we used to traveling? Or, we could walk, it isn't that far from here to our home. Which would you like?????

God loves you.

? ? ?"I'm glad attentiveness is one of my character traits.? I know so?
little about myself.? It's a bit unsettling to tell the truth,"?
Elizabeth commented to victor.? "You'll have to tell me more about?
myself," she added.

???? So he cared enough about her to cut back on his lab work? He'd?
kept her body for a number of years so this shouldn't surprise her but?
she was.? Elizabeth also sensed there were some memories she'd rather?
not remember.? She knew this with every fiber of her being.

???? "I look a bit odd to go out, Victor," she pointed out looking down?
at herself.? "I'd love the fresh air but I"m not sure how far I could?
wak so let's take a handsome," she said.

Victor nodded when she spoke of attentiveness being one of her characteristics, indeed it is, and it will be a pleasure to help you remember your traits, you are a very loving, encouraging person, you are compassionate and caring, you were always the one who could encourage me and lift me up when no one else believed in me. ?You did not just love me for what I was, what I am or what I could discover, you love me for¡ Well for me, how well I recall many of those times when I had, at least I thought I had to go to work in the lab, and you would beg me, if only with your eyes, to stay with you. How I wish I had done that, and now I have a second chance to do just that. Oh, there will still be some times when I will have to be away, but not nearly so much, I promise you that. No doubt, she would see the love in his eyes, for he was almost overcome with it, on the verge of tears; he was proud of her intelligence, but he was not simply proud of her because she was his creation, or because he was on some ego trip about conquering death and bringing her back to life, he was proud of her because she was¡ His Elizabeth, she always was, and always would be in his heart. ?He gave a warm chuckle when she mentioned about walking, yes, we will work on that at home, and we will take it slowly, you always loved to walk as I recall, but the leg muscles need time to build strength. When she spoke of calling a handsome, he nodded, handsome it is; you wait here, and I shall go outside and hail one. ?He paused to watch her expression, I tell you to wait here, only because you said that you did not feel you look adequate to go out; you also said however, that you would love the fresh air. So I will leave the decision up to you, you can either wait inside here where it is warmer, or, you can come out here with me and we will wait for the handsome together. Which will it be, my darling? He punctuated his question with a tender kiss on her right ear, he watched her expression, remembering that she had always liked when he did that before.??

God loves you.

? ? ?"You make me sound perfect.? No one is perfect," Elizabeth?
commented laughing delightedly. She sobered almost instantly however?
feeling this wasn't an appropriate time for self-expression.

???? "I'm glad I was able to be there for you when you needed me.? I?
don't remember a lot of how I felt about things.? I'm sure in time it?
will come.? So was patience a virtue of mine or did I fall a little?
short in that area," she asked.

???? She saw the way Victor looked at her and for a moment she couldn't?
catch her breath. What had she done to deserve such love and loyalty???
How many others would go through as much to bring their wives back?? She?
had a lot of lost time to make up for.? The need to bathe was strong and?
when Victor kissed her on the ear she gasped and pulled away slightly.

???? "I want a bath before any of that," she said to soften her?
rejection.? My skin isn't the right color so I need to cover up as much?
as possible.? If you give me something to change into quickly I'll do so?
and be ready when you return for me," Elizabeth said.

Victor smiled and nodded when Elizabeth said he made her sound perfect, you always were... Perfect to me, he replied, his smile widening at her delighted laughter. ?As I recall, he began, you were extremely patient, except for those times I had to be away from you so much, working in the lab. You didn't like that very much, but with other things¡ You were the picture of patients. ?It wasn't that you minded me doing scientific work, he continued, you just did not like how much I had to be away, and I intend to make that up to you. ?He looked somewhat hurt when she pulled away from his kiss on the ear, but the nodded with a chuckle when she said she needed a bath, oh it was just a minor little show of affection, not to worry, and yes I am certain that all of this will come back to you with time. ?He held the soft, pastel dress out to her, why don't you change into this right here, he suggested, and I will go call a handsome for us. Will¡ Will you need any help getting dressed, or do you remember? ?He was not trying to seduce her, he would help her to dress, if she required such assistance, that was all he intended to do, until she had had a bath, and ?time to become accustomed to things once more. ?He could not help wondering to himself why he had been so unkind with Frank, he had been afraid, he knew that much, perhaps it was because Frank had so much life within him, he could move, yet he could not communicate; but Elizabeth's return to the living world was proving to be much more orderly, much more the way he had expected it to be. ? Hmmm... perhaps, I ought to have started with merely returning someone to life, before actually trying to create it, he thought to himself, while he awaited her reply concerning whether or not she would need assistance getting dressed. ?All he knew was that he had to log the results, the outstanding event of her return in his journal, he had to capture this moment, he had to have it for now, for the future, so that he might always remember the day his Elizabeth came back to him.?

God loves you.

? ? ?"I have to say I'm not feelin very patient at the moment. While?
things are a bit clearer for me now there are many blanks in my memory.??
Not that I'm complaining you gave me my life back after all," she added?
nervously.? She felt so odd but that was no real fault of Victors she?
supposed.

???? "Will my clothes look out of place here now?? I have to say I?
don't much care how I look but I don't want to stand out.? Why don't you?
show me what I should wear.? I don't know if I remember how to dress or?
not.? The basics yes but it depends on how many pieces of clothing and?
how many buttons and zippers and such.? I guess what I'm impatient to do?
is learn, everything I missed. Whether I remember all of my past or not?
is one thing but I'm eager for my knowledge," she said to Victor.? "Do I?
sound the same," she asked curiously.

Victor gave a warm chuckle, "you sound just as lovely, and eager to learn as you ever were," he reassured her. ?He nodded when she asked him to show her what she should wear; "well I brought some of your dresses here, to prepare for this momentous occasion." He first produced a dress of dark green and white, "you always loved this one, as I recall, and here¡ This one is your pink and blue one, I also have a red and white one here for you, and a red and green. If you don't wish to stand out at all, this dark brown one will do well enough, it is your choice, which would you like?" ?His face gleamed with joy and admiration when she spoke of being eager for knowledge, "I think¡ That is one of the many reasons why you and I always got along so well together, you appreciate life in its totality, you love life, you always have, and I believe you always will. ?And not to worry," he continued, "all of your knowledge will return to you in time I'm certain, and I will be more than glad to help you along with that." ?He watched her as he handed her the dresses, watching to see if she needed help, or if she would remember how to dress herself. ?"remember, I am right here should you need anything at all." ?He did not watch her with complete clinical interest, nor did he watch her with the hungry eyes of a man who was visually turned on, and wanted his wife, instead, he watched her with eyes of love, kindness and understanding, which completely belied the turmoil within his mind, and the ghost which asked¡ Why not me, father?

God loves you.

? ? ?"Do you always think of everything?? I am quite impressed. She?
reached out and fingered all of the dresses he held up for her perusal.

???? "Says a lot about the cloth it's lasted this long.? I'd have?
thought the material would be a little thin to be honest.? "I'll take?
the brown one for now although they're allnice.? It's as nondescript as?
you have and I don't want notice.? At least not yet, if that makes?
sense," she added quietly.? "I have thoughts running around in my head?
constantly.? I can keep them straight but they are quite fast," she?
admitted. I can manage the dress while you call the handsom.? At least?
she was pretty sure she could get it on.? It looked easy enough.? Was?
Victor always so detail oriented, she wondered.? That was a trait?
Elizabeth respected.? She was glad he'd agreed to cut back on his time?
in the lab because she had a feeling she'd want and need him around for?
the foreseeable future.

Victor chuckled and blushed a bit when Elizabeth asked him if he always thought of everything; "well my dear, I try, especially where you are concerned." ?He looked rather surprised when she chose the brown dress, he had wanted everyone he met, to see her, but he could also understand her desire not to be noticed, and nodded when she expressed that desire; "quite understandable, although you are lovely enough and truly??worthy of being noticed." ?He nodded when she stated that she could manage the dress while he went to call a ride for them, "very well, I shall leave you to it, but if you need any help at all, please do not hesitate to call." ?He soon returned, and stated, "a handsome will be here for us any moment now; you look¡ Lovely as ever, you certainly make that dress look fabulous. ?Then again, I am certain that very nature it's self¡ Takes its song and it's beauty from you." ?But even as he spoke, even as he endeavored to bestow all the love and affection he could give her, he heard that troubling, haunting ghost within his mind, all the love I should have received¡ I wanted you to be alone, alone, father¡ Alone, alone forever, father. ?There was of course, no pale looking visual image of a ghost, it was likely as not, victors own conscience which bothered him, but to him, it seemed as if Frank's ghost were following him, casting a dark shadow on this otherwise bright, glorious morning.

God loves you.

? ? ?"All of this is a bit overwhelming so I'd definitely rather not?
attract notice although I thank you for the compliment.? I'm lucky to?
have such an attentive husband," she said trying out the word.? "I only?
hope I can be deserving of you.? You seem to think so which is good for?
now," she said laughing.

???? While he was gone she quickly dressed finding it was almost?
automatic for her.? Did she have maids to dress her, she wondered.? Most?
likely yes.? She was rather relieved not to have one now though.

???? "Shall we wait outside for it," Elizabeth asked Victor.? "I?
confess I'm quite eager to smell fresh air.? I was lost in nothingness?
for so long everything is a pleasure for me, she said shivering.? She'd?
not think of it again, she vowed.? That way lay madness for her.? She?
wondered briefly if she had lost her mind in that place but pushed that?
unwelcome thought away as well.
