Locked Re: Revelations (Klaus/Amara/Valerie/Van Helsing)

Helsing had entered the library to find Natari nervously pacing the floor.? "Thank you, Tom, that will be all for now," he told the butler before turning his attention fully to her;? "Well, a pleasant evening to you, Natari, what is on your mind?" He asked this, giving her a pleased look that she had kept her promise and returned to check on the werewolf.? Shaking his head he replied, "No...the werewolf is..still the same, still quite dossile, at least he was earlier when I went in to give him his injection, and may I say again that I truly appreciate all your help with him."? He tried not to show his alarm when she told him that a pack of the creatures were loose in London.? "I thank you very kindly for your warning, and I shall make certain this entire place is secure; I do not know if the injections will be a failure, or if it is simply too soon to tell if they will work, but all seems to be well so far."? As he spoke, he had motioned for her to sit in one of the comfortable chairs seated around the main table.? "Now, shall I ring for?a servant, and have two cups of steaming hot tea brought in for us?"? He hated leaving his guests there alone in the lab, but Natari had...come to warn him after all, proving herself to be far more of a friend than he had expected from her kind, so he felt that the least he could do was to offer her a cup of hot tea, and spend a bit of time with her.? Then he looked uneasy, as he realized his mistake, but he had offered it to the others in the lab, and belatedly realized that, perhaps, he was starting to think of her as...human?? I'm...sorry I, suppose I had my mind on those werewolves and wasn't quite thinking of the obvious; please forgive me, I have nothing to offer you to drink, except for..." he wondered to himself could she, or would she, drink red...wine.? "I don't know if you can drink anything save for...well, your usual drink," he could not quite bring himself to say blood "I do also have some rich red wine about the premises, will that work?"? He was uncomfortable, realizing that he knew so very little about their kind, and she seemed so human to him in many ways, he had not even known that she had been a vampire at first.? But he did not like the fact that he knew so little as he? did about them, as to him, one of the greatest sins human beings could commit was, not to avail themselves of knowledge, when it was there for the taking.? he gave her an apologetic look, then glanced away with a slight blush, thinking to himself, nice going, Van...you've really blundered this time."? He was only thinking of comforting her, and showing appreciation for her keeping her promise, and coming?back to warn him.?

Locked Re: Revelations (Klaus/Amara/Valerie/Van Helsing)

Klaus smirked after the good doctor who had dropped all in favor of...a pretty young woman it seemed.
?
"Well he's still a man," he said with a smirk, moving deeper into the lab.
?
"And as he didn't show us out, I think we'll just wait for him here. We?didn't make an appointment for our next meeting, after all, and perhaps you wanted to try the tea, Amara," he asked with a playful smirk in her direction, hands running carefully over a row of scrolls on a shelf affixed to?the far wall.
?
Then turning whip like to Valerie he added,"I also haven't decided if I wish to ask him about that were wolf upstairs that I can smell," he added, a tinge of growl appearing in his voice.
"I find myself very curious...I"d also not mind meeting this lady friend of his that has him losing his head in case it is of use at a later date," he added silkily.
?
* Natari had tried to remain seated but ended up pacing back and forth across the library and so was in mid stride when the door opened to a frazzled looking Helsing.
?
"I'm sorry to interrupt. I came to see how the patient is fairing. If your attempts to reverse his change have progressed any or if he has become more werewolf or...if he's died."
?
She had wondered if the attempts to reverse the change by way of whatever Helsing was giving the man via needle or mouth would kill him. A former patient of the doctor's had been bitten by a werewolf and come to him for help. Natari had used her vampiric hypnotism on him, ordering him to be docile, but that was last night and she had no idea how long it would hold. She had assisted Van Helsing in chaining the man down and the knowledge that Helsing had a gun full of silver bullets if necessary was a comfort.
?
Swallowing she paused only fractionally speaking again before he could answer. "I did promise to return and check, but I am mainly here at this specific time because there is talk of...a pack of werewolves ravaging London. It's the reason this man was attacked surely. I always assumed the things were better controlled, so I don't think this is normal. I felt you should be warned."
?
She knew most vampires would dis approve of her warning a killer of their kind of anything, but they had conversed, and she found him interesting. He had helped her when she had been badly burned escaping from Oliver's chains. And she knew Helsing still would not think Oliver was any sort of friend for doing that to her no matter what she said. Said vampire was currently MIA anyway. She had looked for him but had the feeling he was avoiding her. After chaining her like that in silver he should because when she found him, he'd be sorry.

Locked Re: Revelations (Klaus/Amara/Valerie/Van Helsing)

Helsing looked puzzled for a moment, wondering to himself what pretty young woman could possibly have come to see him?? Then he remembered, and gave the others an apologetic look, then looked bak at the door.? "Please, tell her I'll be along momentarily, and...thank you, Tom."? To the others he stated, his tone somewhat embarrassed, "I'm...afraid I shall have to postpone the remainder of this tour of my lab and equipment, as it appears there is someone who is in quite desperate need of my humble ministrations; perhaps this will not take long, and again, I am truly sorry for this untimely interruption, but perhaps it will allow you the necessary time to consider my offer," his eyes favored Amara, as he reassured, "we will...have further discussion of this as soon as possible, for now, my friends, a pleasant day and evening to one and all."
?
He gave them another apologetic look before making a quiet exit, "all right, Tom, conduct me to her, if you please, my good man."

Locked Re: Revelations (Klaus/Amara/Valerie/Van Helsing)

There came a hesitant tap at the door and the voice of the good doctor's man servant, Tom, could be heard through the wood panel's.
?
"Doctor...That pretty young woman is here to see you again...Only she appears rather distressed. I allowed her into the library and asked her to wait, informing her that you have other guests at present that you are speaking with. I offered her tea, sir, but she declined. She is waiting politely, Sir, though as she was distressed I thought I would let you know."
?
The man's voice was hesitant, concerned and apologetic all at once. The young woman, the last 2 times she had called, had always been polite and well mannered, though he could only speculate at her relationship to the doctor. A patient after a consult perhaps, though a fine lady in dress and appearance, she did not seem ill, but rather young and in the best health.
I'm friends with the monster that's under my bed.
I get along with the voices inside of my head.

Locked Re: Home At Last (Rena/Henry/Pool/etc)

"Well like outskirts of the city, you know, not right in the heart but not far enough out of it to be living in the countryside or whatever,"Rena explained, belatedly wondering/analyzing her use of the words like and whatever, did people use them in such an informal way? Well hell she could get away with a lot just being American unless some of Henry's stuffy friends knew some Americans well. In their way they were just as old fashioned right about now...
?
?
?
Rena hesitated when he mentioned visiting her family. A reasonable and likely thing if they were alive and here right now. Her father was both, but not old enough t obe her father, and her grandfather, while viable, had no idea who she was and she had no idea where he was! It was enough to make her head hurt just to consider. Either way, tomorrow Henry would have the entire story from her and he would then understand why such would not be possible. Instead she settled for another truthful answer that would appear fitting.?
?
?
"My mother would really love to work with you for sure," she said with a smile.
?
?
?
When Henry spoke of well preserved dead bodies, Rena arched a brow and laughed. "Are we talking?necrofelia or vampires?"
?
When he mentioned the inconsistent?early century Penny Dreadful series about the vampire she assumed the later with some relief.
?

"Well vampires are hardly dead, I would think...Scientifically it seems they just have another form of life."
?
She gave a small shudder and laughed again.
?
"Though Byron would make a frightful vampire. He would likely run a muck."
?
?
Rena grew serious as Henry spoke in a more indepth fashion of the Grey Cardinals. When he mentioned a hypnotist, her face nearly turned gray and she breathed a "Shit," under her breath, hand shooting out to clutch at his arm.
?
"Not good."
?
Was it Calagari or perhaps his teacher or a colleague?
?
?
"The dismissed custodian of the Oxford library of which you spoke...Is he still alive or was this like when you were in university? Is there any way to find him?"
?
Then half to herself,"Unless they killed him, then we'll have no one to ask."
?
?
Drawing in a deep breath, not wanting Henry to think she had gone mad she clarified,"I...I sort of arrived her in a way that I can't explain...And when you spoke of these Grey Cardinals I thought maybe they were behind it, as far fetched as I"m sure it sounds. :Look I know it sounds mad, but...today something happened/befell me that made me wonder...not if I had gone mad, but...if I was wrong about what I formerly believed possible."
?
With a sigh she dropped her head onto his shoulder and loosened her grip on his arm.
?
"You spoke of a strange day yourself of perhaps you can relate. I am hoping it will look better over coffee tomorrow, but I'm not counting on it."
?
She lifted her head to regard him. "Both of us have abilities, connections, what have you that such a group would want. That's my worry," she said, expression intense.
?
"Then again perhaps I need an explanation so badly that I grasp at straws, but it certainly wont' hurt to look into.
?
?
When Henry said he didn't know why people would watch him, Rena nodded.
?
"For sure.e At least not yet. You are very brilliant and gorgeous with that Greek god body of yours, but not yet the sort of special they would be looking for. They don't know yet of the full potential in that head of yours. Your potion would definitely be something to gain their notice were they to discover it, but you've not made it yet so I don't see how..."
?
She paused. "Then again if you feel watched...I assume you have notes. But as you've not made it yet why would they be watching you just to study your notes? You should not have drawn attention yet."
?
She felt she was babbling so closed her mouth. What a day! His mentioning so his wilder days in his youth had her shrugging. "No. I don't see? why whoring, fighting and excessive drinking would prove watch worthy for such an organization eve n for a man of wealth who's family is in high standing as yours."
?
?
She shook her head then frowned as another thought struck her. While he had not done anything yet, she was from his future so what if that future was what had gained notice and so they had decided to use those talents in the 1890s for something that hadn't gone right? Again she felt she was reaching for connections so did not speak those particular ones aloud just yet. Later when she told him everything there would be time and if she spoke now, she would only risk confusing him.
?
?
When Henry spoke of supernatural abilities, Rena started, her head coming up to regard him from where it had once again rested in near silent on his wide and comforting shoulder.
?
"Supernatural? Like how? Mom doesn't particularly believe in the supernatural and Dad...I'm not really sure. With her it's all got a scientific explanation, though one she doesn't always have the answer for. The misting ability of vampires, though, she's got nothing for as of yet and she's been aware for at least 20 years now."
?
Her expression was a mix of worry and interest as she wondered what he would say.
?
I'm friends with the monster that's under my bed.

Locked Re: Home At Last (Rena/Henry/Pool/etc)

"Living in a city, and yet being isolated from the city. That is a combination hard to fathom, I must admit. Or at least within those civilized areas I am familiar?with. Surely the world is still vast, some parts of it remain unexplored.?But as you have not mentioned living in such a mysterious setting, I have assumed. I suppose the idea of being familiar with American social climate blinded me to the few facts I am not know. I, naturally meant no offense about the country. That was merely the only way I could imagine a possibility like that. And your explanation does not truly alleviate the air of mystery. Perhaps you would want me to see with my own?eyes what it is like, when we pay a visit to your family?" Henry Hyde suddenly wondered, freely admitting to being intrigued.
?
"Well, it is good, I am not meant to understand. Because your father's situation is just as puzzling as that of your habitation in?the Colonies, sorry a bit of old fashioned imperialism on my?part, old habits are hard to break. I do believe we share a few traits, the need to protect our privacy and freedom surely come to mind. And the physical compatibility does not hurt, nor our seemingly shared regard for what is allowed. Yes, I do not object to us being of a like mind.?
?
I wouldn't know about?looking better than some of the dead though,?There are those tall tales one reads in the alluring darkness of one's dwelling of the bodies well preserved travelling with living companions, even having some physical interaction with them. One of Dr Reynold's assistants believes the grey cardinals are behind such bodies as well.?That Varney fellow, does not take kindly to my suggestion that he is simply jealous that?a conscientious medical student beat him to the punch and dug?a?recently diseased body before Varney himself did," Henry admitted with a smile.
?
"I am not sure how real grey cardinals are. There was a?former custodian of the Oxford Library, dismissed due to his unusual ideas,?who kept dragging after me and harassing me. He would say strange things about the cardinals. If you believe him, then they do have some specialized occult knowledge. At least the ones in France. He believes the cardinals have their own factions that don't always agree with one another, led by some strange hypnotist bloke known as Abe?Ferry. or Fairy or Faria. These foreign names are difficult to pronounce. They are all followers of Mesmer abroad, I heard, so the proper term should be Mesmerist, but then our poor former custodian might not know that.
?
I am less certain that they exist in such a capacity as he thinks. But to tell you the truth, I did experience the feeling of being special from time to time. And like somebody is watching me. Why would they watch me? Any supposition would lack credulity. My singularly subjective opinion is that my antics, in my youth, may have drawn some attention from the?higher circles. I have no...certainty on the matter. I have bought some constables, even approached the Scotland Yard indirectly, but after a while the feeling subsided and I had no special resources or interest to pursue the trail.
?
I do believe it is possible that?someone out there, say the grey cardinals, deem themselves the informal guardians of London, and it is natural for them to question my motifs, and yours by extension. Perhaps they investigated me and left me alone, perhaps not, but some members of the criminal?society,?superstitious lot that they are, do believe in somebody out there pulling the strings. Who knows, it could be some minister of Her Majesty's government, working in secrecy. But, I do not like feeling reckless, and?some recent events made me question...well I am beginning to wonder about the supernatural abilities one may have, as silly as it may sound..." Hyde grimly admitted. ? ? ?

Locked No Place Like London (Oliver/Nadia/Mircea)

OOC, if you want to include Nadia's reply to Oliver before Mercia comes over, cool and I"ll work Oliver's response into the convo with Mercia.?
?
IC
?
?
The door to the Black Bess swung open and Mercia Dracul swept in heading right to the table where his sister sat without even sparing a glance for the rest of the room. He didn't know the overly thin man with whom she sat, but he wasn't pretty enough to be a bedmate for her so he wasn't overly curious. Perhaps he had been once, but illness had ravaged him before vampirism had, a thing he had seen more than once. On the women it seemed particularly unkind. To leave a beauty a mere husk for eternity. Men could work with it, not minding for their appearance as much, though Mercia doubted the man got laid much. The ironic thought caused him to give said man an amused smirk in greeting as he stopped at Nadia's chair.
?
"Ah sister Dearest," he said, bending in a graceful nearly bat like swoop to kiss her cheek.
?
"You smell delightful as usual," he said with a wink.
?
"Is it your perfume or mothers?"
?
The quip was a teasing reminder of Nadia's playing dress up in her mother's clothing, and cosmetics as a very small child. Mercia had attempted the same with his father's weapons wanting to keep up and it hadn't always worked out so well, considering that time he'd accidentally stabbed a servant. In the remote area they called home, servants hadn't been so easy to replace, so he had gotten himself into a bit of trouble for that death to say the least.
?
?
?
"May I sit down," he asked, including the man in his inquiring glance, though in truth he didn't care if the bloke wanted him there or not. He was beneath Mercia's s notice save for a vague curiosity as his sister apparently found him worth addressing for one reason or other.

Locked Re: Revelations (Klaus/Amara/Valerie/Van Helsing)

Helsing observed Amara, both with the clinical interest of a scientist, and with the caring concern of a friend who truly wants to help in a matter.? "It is quite understandable that you would not remember most of what you endured," he reassured, "It was, I am sure, very tramatic for you, but hypnosis can often assist one in bypassing such mental blocks, which are not consciously put into place by the person, but are instead, defenses of the mind, meant to block out such extremely painful memories.? I of course, can not promise that it?will work, but we can try, if you are willing to grant me the honor of the trust I mentioned to you."? When she asked about hot tea, he nodded, "Yes, but I assure you that it would not be hot enough to severely burnyou,or cause you permenant injury, in fact it is...a quite pleasurable activity," he continued," which should truly cause you...no injury at all, but this, like the other far more serious decision is...up to you, your choice." ??

Locked Re: Revelations (Klaus/Amara/Valerie/Van Helsing)

Van Helsing gave a polite smile as the two conversed about witches, magic, potions and the like; he nodded to Klaus's sympethetic look, but shook his head, "I'm...afraid this is very much out of my field indeed," he admitted, still keeping himself alert, as it could still provide an opportunity for learning.? His eyes came alight with surprise and interest at Klaus's question of hypnotism, "while no one is truly all-knowing on any subject, as there is always ever more knowledge to be gained, this...is a subject of which I have considerably more knowledge than the previous one.? It is,' he continued, "partly due to the skill of the hypnotist, but the main success lies with the willingness of the subject.? In other words," he turned to regard Amara with a warm, concerned expression, "You would have to be willing to place complete trust in me, not only for the actual act of hypnotising you, but for the retrieval of those obscure memories, which could indeed prove quite helpful in this endeavor; it would be as though you were passing the memories and information on to me, and you would have to trust me as a safe repository for such treasures."

Locked Re: Revelations (Klaus/Amara/Valerie/Van Helsing)

Klaus made note of the look on Valerie's face for he recognized it. Pain, hatred and the need for revenge. Oh how he could relate. Rather than asking her he merely gave her an understanding smile before returning his gaze to Amara, from whom he had been briefly distracted.
?
"Do you understand what vampires are now? And if so can you explain the difference between you and us. IT seems both of us require blood and both are immortal. You were asleep for centuries upon centuries and survived, so we have enough in common. I ask because I am wondering if this cure of yours would work on us or something similar...or if we are too different. Magic created both of us, it seems, but as this was done by 2 different witches in 2 different ways I must wonder if the similarities are as relevant as we may like for them to be. My mother used a spell, for example, while it seems your mistress, or whatever she was, used a potion. Still in all, magic is magic, so there could be some way to work with it."
?
He threw Van Helsing a brief look of sympathy, knowing that this was not a thing in which such as he dabbled. Klaus had access to witches, and still had never considered a magical fix, as he had explored such centuries ago with no results. Hell if there had been one in reach, Mikael would have surely made use of it to eradicate his family at once.
?
?
Yet with Amara arisen and among them, perhaps new information could emerge. Startling as he recalled something about Van Helsing he turned back to Amara with fresh hope on his face.
?
"The doctor has skills in hypnotism."
?
He flashed a quick look to Helsing. "At least word on the street claims this to be among your many skills good sir."
?
Turning back to Amara he continued. "This is an endeavor in which he places you into a trance of sorts, allowing you full access to your own mind. Were you to do this, do you think you could remember more of what was in the cure then or did you ever know?"
?
He hated the eagerness and intensity in his voice, but there was nothing for it.
I'm friends with the monster that's under my bed.

Locked Re: Revelations (Klaus/Amara/Valerie/Van Helsing)

¡°I¡¡± Amara trailed with a faraway look in her eyes as she desperately searched her memory for the answer needed but the trauma of what had been endured blocked her access to anything that might prove useful. ¡°I don't know. All that I remember is the terror I felt at the thought of what I expected would be done to me and the pain of her dagger cutting into my flesh.¡±
?
She couldn't safely say how much of her blood was taken for the purpose of creating the cure. It might have been only a few drops or maybe much more. Her gaze moved in the direction the good doctor had pointed looking at the items in question with a light shudder.
?
¡°Hot¡tea?¡± She repeated with a slight hesitation as it sounded unfamiliar though with all those years spent trapped inside a sarcophagus¡desiccated¡she imagined most things would. It was, after all, a thousand wonders the experience hadn't driven her completely mad.
?
The former handmaiden turned to look at Klaus when asked about its existence, offering a small nod. ¡°Yes¡there was.¡± She couldn't be entirely certain whether it was still out there somewhere as Qetsiyah mentioned her plans of sealing it away inside a tomb with the man both women loved. ¡°It was magic that granted us immortality and it was the means for creating a way of bringing an end to it.¡±
?
?
?
¡ª¡ª¡ª¡ª
?
?
?
Valerie tore her attention away from the scrolls as the others began discussing the cure a bit more in depth. She, of course, had notice a lingering uneasiness in the other woman which she attributed to all this talk of a night Amara no doubt would love to forget all about.
?
She started to offer a possible candidate but the thought of Lily¡¯s heartbreak should Julian be taken kept her quiet. Oh how she wished something truly horrible would befall that monster. There was a flicker of both sadness and anger in her eyes at the thought of him and what he¡¯d taken from her.?

Locked Re: Late Night Lab Work (Victor/Elizabeth)

Victor had looked relieved when he saw the handsome coming, at last, we will soon be going home, he told Elizabeth. But his relief was short-lived, for just as he was about to help Elizabeth up into the cab, ?The driver made his comment about her having the plague or the pox. ?¡° truly sir, there is no need for alarm, she has no such malady.¡± ?He gave Elizabeth a surprised look when she mentioned paying the driver, ?¡°pay him? ?But,¡± he paused, neither wanting to, nor feeling like making a big issue, and took out two silver coins to give to the driver. ?But the driver had said she did not have to pay him, and was already back inside the handsome, and whipping the horses down the road. Victor moved closer to put his arm around Elizabeth¡¯s waste, ¡° I am so¡, Sorry, that he said that, and did as he has done, imagine, actually believing that you have the plague. I ought to go after him, but, I suppose we ought to be walking home. He¡¯s already too far gone for me to catch up with him on foot anyway.¡± ???But while he was thoroughly disgusted with the driver, he supposed it was reasonable for him to think as he did, since he had no way of knowing, and Victor had not explained it. He decided that his place, at least at the present time, was with Elizabeth, not running after a handsome just to fight with a driver for something which he really did not know. ?Besides all of that, he still had that pounding headache. All he really wanted to do was get home, help Elizabeth with whatever she needed, and at some point during the day, he knew he would likely have to lie down to sleep. ?He looped his arm through hers, come, it does no good to stand here, let us walk home.¡± ?He hoped that the ghost had been wrong, that not everyone would treat Elizabeth the way the driver had treated her; surely not everyone would think that she had the plague. ?He had to admit, if only to himself, that the man had at least one redeeming quality, he had not made any of them pay for him coming out there to where they were. But a small fragment which seem to have a life of its own, nagged at him, as he wondered¡ Was this how it was for Frank???

God loves you.

Locked Re: Late Night Lab Work (Victor/Elizabeth)

"You don't have to pay me miss," the driver said, and hurried back to his seat, vaulting up and whipping the horses into a nearly frantic run down the road. He didn't see why she would lie about not being contagious, but he just couldn't bring himself to get closer. Just in case...no money was worth becoming ill or even having nightmares. That last bit was a disturbed murmur from the unsettled back of his mind. He drove into the heart of London, wanting...no needing to fill his eyes with any other sights to drive out that one.

couldn't blame him after all.? She'd tried to take most of her?
appearance into account but she knew how odd she looked.? She took an?

Locked Re: Late Night Lab Work (Victor/Elizabeth)

The handsome cab finally came clattering up the street. The driver stopped before Victor and Elisabeth and jumped down from the driver's seat to open the carriage door.
?
"You the ones what called for a ride," the middle aged man with the ruddy face of a farmer called jovially, looking over to the pair once again.
?
?
When his gaze fell more fully on Elisabeth, in the brightened light thrown by the carriage headlamps his eyes flew wide.
?
"She sick or something, Man? I ain't trying to catch the Plague or Pox," the man said, fear evident in his eyes.
?
?
Truly the driver didn't know what the plague or pox looked like, but he knew the woman didn't look right and he didn't want any of what made her skin that odd yellow white color and it looked so withered even though she was obviously young.

Locked Re: Home At Last (Rena/Henry/Pool/etc)

Rena frowned for the first time at Henry all evening, gaze first shocked then offended when he asked if her family was frown the country. Granted he seemed excepting, but still. Oh how her mother would be offended! Perhaps even grandfather, but one could never tell with him sometimes. The thought of her mother's reaction made Rena smile, then she shook her head.
?
"No. We live in a very populated city. only very slightly outside of it, and in a very nice opulent neighborhood. Just one who appreciates its privacy. We are rich enough to be left to ourselves so long as we don't flaunt ourselves. Enough money can buy most things if you do not parade yourself about...The way we did this evening, I'm afraid," she said, her smile only a little regretful, for it, in truth, had perhaps been unavoidable for a few reasons, only some of a fleshly nature.
?
Shrugging she shook her head, leaning forward to kiss him lightly.
?
?
"You are not expected to understand, Darling. No more than ordinary doctors would understand your potion. I merely wished to convey that my family, in their way, are on a similar level of...extraordinary, unusual and unique. It is one reason you and I are so compatible, you see. I'm sure it's not what my parents expected, but I am of age and have the right to live my life. I can't be their little girl forever."
?
Thought of her parents reminded her of what he had said about her father being a sabordenant.
?
"I should've explained. Breeding wise he isn't at all lesser. He comes from a wealthy family as you do, though if he were still himself, IS know Mom would've loved him anyway as you say. He simply chose to walk away from all that so that he might live the sort of life that intrigued him. I think you can understand that," she said with a soft smile.
?
"He felt things here, he is also from London, were too constraining for him. That he was unable to be himself or to be free to do so without unfair and unreasonable judgments concerning his own scientific perceptions of life. Again a thing I believe you can relate to."
?
She smiled.?
?
"So you see? We are more alike than you could've guessed."
?
She squeezed his hand and leaned contentedly into his chest.
?
She chuckled when he suggested?she not speak of her parents?situation to others.
?
"No more than I would speak of your potion, and that is to say not at all. Trust me, Henry?I may speak openly to you, but that is because it is?you. I know how others would react and besides, they're not worthy of knowing things that they could only misunderstand and thus make themselves a neucence with."
?
?
She remembered her mother saying how she hated talking to ordinary people as it was so difficult and boring. How they lacked in intelligence and so on and so forth. Rena didn't think she was as mentally demanding as her mother, but she did understand the general concept and respect it for what it was.??The fact that they did not relate to general society and thus nor could general society relate to them.
?
?
When Henry spoke of Lord Byron Rena laughed.
?
"Well as he's long dead, you definitely look far better," she told him merrily before growing more serious once again.
?
"He was dapper looking I suppose, a pretty boy, perhaps he looked too pretty like a woman and that's how he got men to sleep with him as well. You...It's the handsome face coupled with the rock hard body...the wide shoulders, large chest...It just makes me want to do things to you...again. I am certain that if women don't act on this it is only because they are intimidated or perhaps that they fear your intentions," she said with an amused wink.
?
"Or perhaps they like men who look like ladies," she concluded with a shrug.
?
?
She laughed? again when he spoke of actors being of a lower station.
?
"I didn't mean that we would act on stage. I meant like if we were going to play out some sort of scenario to get the trust of the old guy. Like to get him outside or whatever. Or if we'll just wait for him where no one will see us."
?
She shrugged.
?
"As for attending the theater, I'd love to. I look forward to seeing what it's like here," she said, meaning it.
May as well enjoy something while they were here, she thought.
?
?
When he spoke of gray cardinals she felt the color draining from her face as she inched closer to him.
?
"You think...think they're after us? That they're why...Why you and I both had such odd days? Could this be?"
?
She heard the breathy tone of her own voice and indeed her breath was coming faster in rising anxiety. She had never heard of these men before! Jekyll had never spoken of such. Perhaps he had simply never taken them seriously, she decided.
?
?
Neither of them had spoken of why their days had been mutually strange, agreeing to wait for sobriety.
"Do these cardinals have supernatural abilities do you think," she asked, feeling almost dizzy with panic.
?
?
?
I'm friends with the monster that's under my bed.
I get along with the voices inside of my head.

Locked Re: Home At Last (Rena/Henry/Pool/etc)

"Well, your family sounds charming. Are they from the country? They sound like the good old country gents that used to be in vogue a few generations earlier. Nowadays, you only hear about them as being exemplary, but don't see them too often. Sometimes, I even wonder if such country gents exist in the first place, or made up by the priests to serve as an exemplar of their preachings. I suppose it might be a little less common for the woman to?marry her subordinate, or even a mere inferior, but it has been done more, especially in our days.
?
I am guessing the times?might be getting desperate, with old nobility's finances diminishing and new blood rushing in to fill in the vacuum. Well, to be fair, I don't mind myself. Less holly alliances were made in the name of money. But more conservative people would indeed look askance at your parents and their dealings. You will of course be careful whom you tell their?charming little tale.?Good discretion?shall be our best protection, I wager, against suspicions of the untoward kind," Henry slowly suggested.
?
"Oh, I do have an ego when it comes to my mind. But my physicality, while passable, is a far cry from the likes of Lord Byron.?The mothers of young bachelorettes do want me for?my financial capacity, while the maidens themselves rarely swoon at my feet, unless perhaps they visit me as a patient in need. Your tastes must be exceptionally different from others, to consider my boy with such high regard.?Naturally,?such a difference of opinion from the rest of your?sex, I shall not object to, Lady Rena," the good doctor reassured his companion with a suggestive smile.
?
His expression grew serious upon considering Rena's?subsequent explanation. "Such modalities of power I have heard about. Some people are said to wield it even on behalf of Her Majesty. But what makes them so special, what places them so close to the seat of power, I am not certain. Some people I have talked to, not true colleagues in the strictest sense of the word, yet prospective allies nonetheless. Well such colleagues describe a group of so called grey cardinals, who pursue the less usual human beings. Perhaps their occupation warrants their increased power, perhaps not. But based on such a hypothetical scenario, I can imagine the kind of power you have in mind when referring to your family.
?
And those are very kind words on your part," Henry?hedged, uncertain if he felt equally free to dispense such niceties, especially the talk of love. Yes, he supposed he felt something and in the heat of passion he could have used some lofty words to describe the sentiment, but such a compromise with certainty had the appearance of diminishing the sentiment in question. He liked Rena?at first sight, but he did feel uncomfortable considering the?possible continuation of his initial instinctive response.
?
"I did imply attending, for acting is often relegated to...shall we say, lesser mortals, without being fully judgmental. As for acting around you, I don't think I am. Except perhaps to the degree that many of us would even act in front of a silent and unlikely to accuse us mirror.?What was it Shakespeare himself said about all of us being actors on stage? I?think whatever it was, he was right, and no less so about me. If I act at all, rest assured, it is not for your benefit. Nor to conceal some failings of mine from your observant gaze. It is more a case of me being...wary perhaps, in relation to my possible motivation and the actions that could follow it. I have reasons to suspect myself of some ill motifs, but I tend not to take such personal suspicions too far, not these days at any rate. When my behavior has been more or less consistent.
?
And you are?right. I cannot know how incredible it feels being close to me. Perhaps you can tell me, or better yet, show me?" Henry Hyde offered, relieved to have the conversation back on a satisfyingly lighter track. ? ? ?

Locked Re: Late Night Lab Work (Victor/Elizabeth)

Victor placed one hand to his head, holding it, as the pressure had now build into a fully blown headache. How¡ His tone was weak, how can I lack your intelligence¡ When I¡ When I gave it to you? ?I truly got away with¡ With nothing, he assured, as of now trying to plead with the ghost; the headache was one of those kinds that also can make One sick to one's? stomach. ?He gave Elizabeth's hand a light squeeze, as if trying his best to concentrate on her, to hold onto her so as to keep himself from swirling into a morass of illness, and nonsense. ?His face had now grown as pale as the ghost would be if it could be seen. Perhaps he was simply tired, or perhaps the headache was making him ill, but Victor was beginning to wonder¡ What if I had treated Frank as I am treating Elizabeth? ?He was not sure what caused him to think at that time, can't you ever just¡ Just forgive me? He was starting to feel like this ghost truly had power over him, so bad was his headache, and he was rapidly becoming so ill. ?He had to admit that he had not been taking very good care of himself lately, he had eaten simply what he could get hold of, except for the previous night at the bar when he, Henry, and Rina had had supper. ?He shivered as goosebumps appeared on his arms, and he suddenly felt¡ So cold, he had not been cold before, but now¡ He held his head with one hand, and Elizabeth's hand with the other. ?He hated to even have to say anything to her, she was so newly returned to life, how he wanted to start that very day enjoying her, loving her, teaching her¡ I¡ I hope that ride hurries and gets here soon, he finally admitted to her, I¡ I think I need to get home. He ?could not help wishing right then that he had a strong son to take care of him, to be there with him, someone that understood the situation with him and Elizabeth, and could sort of help out in the circumstances. A son¡ He thought to himself, as he was able to make out the ghost calling him father. He couldn't help wishing that the ghost meant it in a loving way. He needed someone right then, perhaps more than he ever had, and a part of him could not help wishing that¡ That it was Frank? I must need more sleep or something, he thought to himself why am I thinking these sorts of things right now? He idly wondered to himself, had Elizabeth been there at the time he created Frank, would things have been any different? He could not picture her running from Frank, would she have been the loving mother, and helped to provide a balance? Would she have been there to talk with, and help him through his fears. ?Was then that he noticed that¡ The ghost was¡ Gone, it's gone, he thought to himself. Yet there was the strange emptiness, he should've loved it, should have been glad of it, and yet a part of him wished even that ghost would come back. ?Despite his joy of having a Lizabeth back with him, he found that he now felt¡ So tired, so vulnerable, as if now it was he¡ Who needed some sort of care. ?He lifted his head just enough to glance down the street, hoping to see the handsome coming; he found that even the light hurt his eyes, please¡ Please, hurry, he murmured.????

God loves you.

//You thought I would have more intelligence than to be whole yet needing to learn? I was supremely intelligent, it is you who are still unable to be logical, allowing fear to form your nonsensical words and reasons and excuses,// the ghost snarled in contempt.
?
?
"It is you who are stupid and you who got away with murders for every murder I did is laying right at your feet. Shall I explain the how and why again, father," the ghost taunted.
?
//So you did indeed get away with murder...the only thing you lack is my intelligence, though the fact you created me shows that you are still doing well enough...above most I should say...just the things you lack the most?are sanity and strength and courage. A pity all those are rather necessary, yes?//
?
The ghost's laugh seemed to echo through Victor's very skull.
?
?
//I asked you to teach me, and you refused. You wanted nothing of me. I asked and you refused,// the ghost roared.
?
//And I did watch people. I did approach them gently and they still ran. But apparently you understand why. All it took was my not knowing how to speak and you ran. Not knowing yet how to move and you ran. I learned these things in a matter of days all on my own. Imagine how much faster I could've learned from a caring teacher. But no...Not you...You are still being nonsensical your justifications incorrect. You forget how it truly was so that you can blame someone other than yourself. You got away with murder and worse, father. Know this if you so need to know how it feels.//
?
The ghost was gone then as suddenly as it had arrived, apparently disgusted with Victor for the moment.
I'm friends with the monster that's under my bed.
I get along with the voices inside of my head.

Locked Re: Late Night Lab Work (Victor/Elizabeth)

Victors thoughts toward the ghost we're now snapping, jabbing blades of anger; you have no idea how fortunate you are and were, sometimes I wish I¡ Had been the child, and you¡ The creator, he snapped. ?And you¡ Would have known the horror and the responsibility of having one emerge with so much energy; sure, of course I created you with energy and power, but I never meant for it to emerge all at once, I thought you would have so much more intelligence than that. ?In the deepest recesses of his mind, Victor had always considered Frank somewhat the fortunate one, as he had seemed to literally get away with murder. If I or anyone else had committed the atrocities that you have committed, we would be hanged for it, or at very least would spend life in prison, oh but not you¡ You¡ You got away with it, fortunate one, he snapped at the ghost, stupid¡ Fortunate one! He did his best to ignore the image of Rena, wondering how on earth the ghost could know about her, but no it was probably just a distant memory of her in his mind, and the ghost was using anything he could to get at him. ?Did you not have opportunity to watch the interactions of humans, even from a distance? Victor's thoughts were now demanding questions; you could have learned the proper ways to act, I gave you a well-developed man's brain, not the brain of a newborn child, but that of a man, you should have known at least had some idea of how to use it, had you had even that much intelligence within you, I could have told you things, I could've shown you how to do things, how to say things, and we could've worked on you so you would not have been such a monster, but oh no¡ Not the fortunate Frank, fortunate Frank preferred to go around killing people, people such as my wife, and my brother. ?Sometimes I wished I had been the created one instead of you, then perhaps I¡ Could have gotten the privilege of ripping your wife to shreds, had you been man enough to have one, maybe even your sons and daughters, if you were man enough to produce them, Victor snapped. ?After all, Victor's thoughts now calmed ?somewhat, you have shown me no mercy, and I am learning much from you, oh, fortunate, lucky one, who gets to go around ripping people to shreds and casting blame on others, when you know it is your fault. ?He gave a sigh, then continued with his thoughts, I suppose it is¡ My fault, I should have ripped your body to shreds while it was still on the table, and then trampled it under ?foot, like so much rubbish! He sounded weary now as he continued, I suppose¡ I shouldn't be too terribly hard on myself for creating an inferior creature, after all it was¡ Only my first time. My Elizabeth is so much better than you, and she will become even better. Now go away, fortunate one, he growled at the ghost. ?He did his best to comfort himself by envisioning himself and Elizabeth trampling Frank's living, breathing body underfoot, whirling and dancing on the monster, even as they heard the snapping and crackling of its bones. ?Frank's negative assessment of Victor as a parent only served to make him want to have at least five or 10 children, and raise them civilized, raise them to be loving, contributing, intelligent human beings, so as to atone for his mistake of creating the monster.?

God loves you.
