Locked Re: Revelations (Klaus/Amara/Valerie/Van Helsing)

¡°I¡¡± Amara began as she freed up a hand to rub at her temple as the room seemed to spin. It was a very strange sensation, one she desperately hoped would pass sooner rather than later. ¡°I¡¡± She shook her head once and in doing so very nearly threw herself off balance. ¡°I appreciate your kindness and understanding on the matter.¡±

She didn't know what was happening to her, only that something wasn't quite right. Her vision began to blur a bit around about the time she caught a glimpse of a familiar face¡one responsible for the hell her existence had long ago become. Her grip loosened and she fumbled to catch the boxes before they fell though was unsuccessful in this effort.?

Only partially aware that Valerie was now watching her more closely but when she spoke her words were directed at the specter from her past. ¡°Why are you here? What's happening to me?¡± From what she could make out of the expression her former mistress wore no answers would be given.

She took a shaky step backwards as the figure drew closer with an almost knowing look in her eyes then in the blink of an eye it was as if someone had reached through her to pluck Qetsiyah from the Other Side. When the pain suddenly gripped the former handmaiden she pitched forward blindly reaching for the nearest table to prevent herself from hitting the floor.

?Victor did not see how Elizabeth could be any better as a person, but he knew what she meant, she wanted him to make her feel better, more like herself again, and he did his best to comfort her, although he glanced away, and backed up a bit when he saw her sudden expression of anger. ? ? He began gently rubbing her upper back, ? ?Please be assured, dear Elizabeth, that?I took nothing from you, I took nothing out of you, for such was not necessary to return you to life. When she asked ?if there was anything he could add to make her better, he looked considering, ?I do¡, Have a potion which I have newly perfected, it is to stop bad dreams, to help you sleep more deeply, and awaken more relaxed and refreshed. I believe that¡, Once these horrible dreams are made to cease,?once you have gotten a real nights rest without fear of¡, Well, without fear of the unknown, I believe you will start to feel much better. ? ? As far as you being any better, he continued, I know what you mean of course, you mean something to make you feel better, just stop the haunting dreams and raging fears, but I can assure you, as a person, you are perfect, there is nothing in this world that can improve on the perfection that is you.???

"The rest of my life, but in what condition?" Elizabeth demanded, surprising herself with unusual anger.
?
"I know, I know you tried your best, but, what is that strange feeling inside of me then? Did you...take anything out? Is such a thing even possible? I wish I felt more like myself, but I don't fully. Could you add anything, to...make me better," she suddenly wondered, with a hope gleaming in her eyes.
?
"The dream might fade, if all is normal, but all the rest. Oh Victor, I really don't thin you understand," the young woman complained. She could not state precisely what befell her, only that she felt bad, empty inside. Prone to fears, irrationality, even anger, and she could not remember any of it from before.
?
"I can bear through the dreams," Elizabeth thoughtfully concluded. "It is the rest I am worried about. All of...this," she pointed with the index finger of her right hand towards her head.
?
Victor's arm around her felt supportive at first, but then began feeling suffocating.
?
It was all her she knew it. At least the new her, and she looked forward to the time when Victor would fix her. Make her good again.

"Him grabbin' my wrist in front of everyone hard enough to leave a mark, never knowin' if anyone would notice don't seem so covert to me," Leti pointed out.
"What you said about memory being covert is true I spose once I think it out like that but the other ain't."
?
She rubbed at her wrist again and held it up as if to remind the doctor of the point.
?
When he spoke of her as a member of his household the bar maid couldn't keep her eyes flying wide. Did he just mean because she happened to be in the house now and a friend invited to a dinner party? But he may be an odd if interesting man, but that was still an odd choice of wording, wasn't it?
?
"What like you offerin' me a job or somethin," she half joked, giving a little laugh, expression still a little perplexed.
?
?
?
To Henry's comment of no one else feeling as right in his arms as she, Rena's eyes warmed as she felt her heart swelling with a rare soft emotion that Jekyll, now Henry, in this more vulnerable pre potion?form, seemed to inspire in her.
"And likewise are you the only one I would ever want having his arms around me," she said, sighing with contentment and snuggling against his chest once picked up.
?
Leti followed readily, eager to get some rest too, and couldn't exist a small smile at the affection and love the 2 had for one another. She didn't believe she'd ever have such for herself but it was very nice to know it existed in the world.

"Well, in a sense, that could be considered covert. Manipulating a memory is a private matter. Outsiders watching you should not be able to experience its effects. All they would see, at best, is you losing track of where you were headed. At worst, they would be disappointed with you not refilling their drink. Ascribing the delay to your tardiness. Memories are too subjective, too immeasurable, and may be deemed covert for the sake of discussion," Hyde thoughtfully retorted.
?
His mouth twisted into a mysterious smile when Leticia turned the conversation towards a different topic. "Don't mention it. I seek to cultivate unusual people like yourself in this household," he spoke almost seriously, only a hint of a taunt evident in his eyes.
?
Turning back to his lady, and quite willing to indulge her, Henry happily nodded. "It will be my pleasure to carry you, my Lady.?Nobody else would feel so right in my arms as you do, after all. Yes, some normalcy would not hurt us. Let us proceed and catch on the sleep," Hyde spoke with a barely suppressed yawn of his own.?

?Pool had been seeing to the training of some young recruits while the breakfast in the room was occurring. ? ? All right Mary, now after the master, his lady, and their guest have left the room, you may go in and clean it, ? Just make certain you don¡¯t interrupt anything. And what of?you? Mary¡¯s tone was indignant as she replied, you are most likely going back to bed, aren¡¯t you? What I?do is of no consequence to you, girl, he told her. ? The aging Butler was normally pretty ? He had learned early on that you did not question when your superiors told you to do something, you never questioned and order, you obeyed it; this was what he expected of Mary, and when she did not wish to comply, it was enough to change his normally mild mannered tone into one full of knife blades, as it were. ? ?Although his voice was soft, it was full of authority, and he was looking daggers at her now as he spoke, Mary¡, If you cannot obey an order when it is given to you, then perhaps, I should speak with the doctor about your immediate dismissal; after all, there are others, who would gladly except, and perform much more ?menial??duties¡, All right, all right, I will do it, she was nearly squeaking now. "I don't think they were bein' covert, as you say, when they, when he did that to my memory last night right there in The Black Bess in front of bloody everyone," Leti retorted, but the end of her sentence came out sounding more tired than anything else.
?
"Thank you kindly Doctor, for lettin' me rest here. I really appreciate it," she added more seriously.
?
When he made his strange joke about her nonexistent lovers and female ones at that the bar maid's brows shot up but she merely gave a small sigh and shook her head.
?
"Lets get some rest then, and deal with this in the evening, "Rena said, turning off her phone and sliding it back into the holder strapped to her thigh.

Leti couldn't help but gape as the cloak was moved aside to show the insanely short dress.
?
"I still don't see how that can truly be considered a dress in any time," she murmured half to herself, shaking her head as she rose after Rena did.
?
Rena covered a yawn, then smiling cutely?at Henry lifted her arms to be picked up.
?
"Won't you carry me up the stairs? I always like being in your arms."

Henry was taken aback more by the statement that a woman should go after what she wants, then by an active demonstration of the mysterious device. "I wouldn't say that," he dryly commented in response to Leticia's exclamation. The whole thing did not seem to be quite real, though it worked well to amuse him.
?
"Well,?I do have many rooms available, so finding one near mine would not be problematic Although I doubt anybody would barge in so openly as you seem to think. Their whole method of operating seems to be covert, in regards to all of us...if I thought those were real, I would even consider a ghost of sorts, but none?of us here truly believe in them, I surmise," Henry concluded thoughtfully.? "It has to be a spurned female lover of yours, Leti Dear," Hyde suddenly quipped, making his words sound decisive.
?
Part of his mind wanted to puzzle over the mechanism Rena was using. Another part was curious about how a memory could be fully erased. Fortunately that scientific part of his was mightily exhausted and was ready to resume its mental operations at a later time. Sleep has eluded him for far too long, and now was the time to assuage that need above all others.

"No. I've never killed anyone like when I was awake," Rena said, waving a hand around as if to?indicate here, the waking world.
?
"Just in dreams but due to my family's connection to the dream realm, if we kill them when they're sleeping, they wake up dead and dead in the way we killed them. I use a knife. So if I stab someone and they bleed out they are bled out in their bed when they don't wake up."
?
?
Leti couldn't help but gape. All of that sounded very unreal but the things Rena had with her...they certainly didn't belong to this time so what did she know?
?
?
Rena explained willingly but her tone was tired and nearly flat. She was so sleepy, her head heavy and it seemed the breakfast, meant to fortify, only made her more sleepy.
?
It was hard to think, hard to deal with it all and she was sure the others felt the same.
?
"I get how all this sounds," she said apologetically.
"I'd not believe me either if I didn't have proof."
?
She grinned and snapped a picture of Leti then Henry on the phone.
?
She extended it to Leti who gave a cry of awed surprise, taking it to study herself on the screen.
?
"In color," she exclaimed.
?
She'd seen Rena's other pictures, but this was her in color and it was different somehow.
?
"We're in color too," she told Henry excitedly, handing him the screen so that he could see his own image.
?
"I'm pretty, "Leti murmured with a blush, tone awed and a little surprised.
?
"As for me propositioning you, I don't see how it's counter intuitive," Rena told Henry.
?
"A woman should go after what she wants as much as a man. And if you'd done it I may have said no just because I really didn't want anyone and you're my parents friend. I had to come up with it for my own reasons I guess, but at least I was smart enough to choose you," she concluded with? a wink and cheeky grin that faded quickly enough as she was tired.
?
"I don't think time travel should be possible though. Really I'm scared of the implications," she said with a sigh.
?
"I'm not supposed to be here. I am glad to be here for you but still...I hope it doesn't like me not exist or something."
?
She sighed, dropping her head onto Henry's shoulder.
?
"Lets go back to sheep then. We can write a quick note and leave it on Leti's door to say not to disturb her if anyone thinks to go in and clean or anything," she said around a yawn.
?
"I'd like a room near you if it's alright,"Leti told Henry a little shyly, expression uncomfortable and embarrassed.
"Just in case...anything happens...considering we still don't know who we're up against."
?
We, the bar maid thought. Had she just said we? Suddenly she was caught up in all this marvelous horror that should have nothing to do with her. She'd been bold enough to start ujp a conversation last night, though, never imagining it would even end with an invite to a dinner party much less here. Certainly not like this.

"A family business. Do tell. How intriguing. No wonder your family has resources. Or, did you mention resources? I thought you did, only, with my memory playing tricks on me,?because of my?inebriated state, I suppose I cannot rely too much on it.
?
All that is quite a story. You, being so forward as to proposition me. It seems so counter intuitive, that it would be unlikely for you to make it up. And yet, how bizarre. A different world indeed, with rules of its own. A good girl indeed, the standards of being good must have changed over time," Henry smirked. His mind was trying to process all the developments mentioned, the possibilities, both promising, and frightening at the same time.
?
"What was that about the..dream realm? That is still the confusing part. If you kill people?in earnest, in real life, what is the point of dreaming in the first place? Is it like an exercise, to refine the killing techniques that you do with dreams?" Hyde?wondered, his brows raised in a frown of incredulity and confusion.?

?Victor gave Elizabeth a curious look when she spoke of dreaming of someone peering into her; you are right that it is not I,?I would never do such a thing to you, my only intention was to return to life, so that you would be allowed to live out the rest of your life. ? I intend?for there to be no secrets between us, at least as far as I am concerned. But as he said this, he suddenly remembered a certain dinner party that was coming up in, what was it now too, maybe three¡, Days? He began wondering how he could bring Elizabeth to the dinner party, what would he tell them that her name was? A man named Victor, and a woman named Elizabeth¡, Might look too similar, ?too much like the man he actually was, and for some reason, did not want his two new friends to know. ? ?I¡¯ll just have to get out of it somehow, he thought to himself, Elizabeth will probably not be comfortable going out, even then, and there is no way I am going in there telling them that her name¡, Is Elizabeth, and that she and I have been recently married. With me being a scientist and all, but he sensed that he was becoming too distracted for the moment, and slipped and arm around Elizabeth. These dreams, I believe they will all fade in time, it is because you are so new to the waking, living world. ? ? At least, that is my theory, although I must admit, I am rather ignorant we¡¯re such phenomena?are concerned. ? I pray you give it time, he continued, these dreams will most surely fade, leaving you with only the realities of this new and exciting life which now belongs to you. ? ?When she said she would try, he nodded, that is the lady I have always known and loved since I can remember.????

Elizabeth tried. To suppress that dark desire. To be attentive. To remember harder that tenderness she had also experienced. Once upon a time, when his eyes were so...soft, when his intentions, so sincere. She thought, they were good then. That was the truth, and she remembered that part as well. IT was a pity he hasn't changed greatly physically. If he has, she could remember the nicer Victor more, being different from the menace shesuddenly detected in him.
?
"Yes, Dear Victor, I shall try. You are so nice to me. So encouraging. I appreciate what you have done for me," Elizabeth tried to reassured herself. Her focus occasionally wavering and returning back to his face, with mixed results.
?
"Nothing comes between us? You mean it Victor? There are...no secrets you are keeping from me then? I am so sorry. It's all these wretched dreams I keep having. About somebody standing?over me. Peering into me. I know it isn't you. Of course?I do. But, those dreams, they frighten me so. They make me feel...unreasonable..." Elizabeth almost pleaded with Victor. Not sure what it was she needed from him. Perhaps being reassured. But in a different way than what?he was offering. She didn't truly expect him to read her mind. That would be irrational. But she wanted her mind at ease, and despite his best efforts, the great scientist was rather failing at that, her mind noted with a small dose of pity, sadly mingled with ridicule. ?

?Victor did not bother correcting Elizabeth when she called the dish, sour craft. His voice was soft and soothing, as if he knew what was going on, yet he knew nothing of it, ? How could he know? As wonderful of a scientist as Victor was, he was no mind reader, so had no idea. ? ? When she told him that he really shouldn¡¯t have done all of these things, he only remarked, I only wish I could have done more, that I could have had a palace, instead of a mere mansion?in which you and I could dwell. ? ?Oh Elizabeth, he poured out his heart to her, I will spend the ?remainder of my life attempting to make up for all those times I spent away from you; oh, sure, there will be times that I must needs work in the lab, but I promise never again to let science¡, Or anything for that matter, come between you and me, and that, my dear love, is?a promise, ?One which I most sincerely utter?from the depths of my heart. ? Locked Re: Late Night Lab Work (Victor/Elizabeth)

Elizabeth could so vividly remember Abigail. How they sat together face to face, smiling at each other. Or perhaps at each other's words. It didn't truly matter. Only a common experience they shared. It should have been common place,?and now Elizabeth could but yearn for something so plain to take place?again. She could no longer relate to that simple innocence she'd?possessed. It was good to have her memory validated, but?saddening, to realize she would never relieve it.
?
And she just knew she couldn't for innocence left her, and dark yearnings took root in her heart. That wickedness that she could not countenance. That resistance, that a good girl like herself, should not have experienced. That dual attitude, the interest at Victor and her entirely unworthy suspicion of him. Elizabeth did not know what was happening to her. She really wanted to be soft, almost managed to be, but when Victor explained?his reasons for letting Abigail go, she could not bring herself to believe him.
?
He had no reasons to lie, obviously, yet why could she not refrain from seeing something sinister at the corner of his eyes. It had to be her of course. She knew she was changing, but did not expect herself to grow so wicked so fast. And yet, those dark emotions pulled at her, forced her away from her beloved, for that was surely what Victor had been to her.
?
"It will be sorted?!" Elizabeth question almost angrily, her indignation turning into?sobs. "It will never be sorted. Oh, Victor, I will never be the same. As I was. At least, I don't think so, it's not like I truly remember what I was. I am so sorry, I may seem ungrateful. That dish, sour?craft you called it? It is magnificent, you are so thoughtful. Oh dearest Victor, you shouldn't have done, really shouldn't have. I don't mean the sour craft dish, I mean, I don't know what I mean," Elizabeth sobbed, out of pity for herself, the sobs slowly subsiding and something sinister creeping into her mind. An idea, a dark idea. Unbecoming, unworthy idea, that Victor had to be slapped.
?
She knew she had been better than this, she knew that. But now, oh now it was very different. The old Elizabeth, the loving girl, she was nowhere to be found. The very thought made Elizabeth burst into tears once more. ? ?

She did good work and all, but regrettably, one day I caught her in the lab, trying to copy formulas and the like. She of course was no scientist, in fact she acted rather uncomfortable about my lab work, yet there she was, trying to figure out how I made different things, at least ?it strongly appeared as such. He smiled again when she called him her love, happy and pleasantly surprised that she was so quickly remembering about using terms of endearment for him. He had used them with her several times that day, so was glad to see that some of these were being returned to him. ? Do not worry and do not fret yourself, my dearest, we will sorted all, I¡¯m sure whatever dreams you had before being returned to the world of the living will soon vanish, even from your memory, as the actual real, living world returns to it. ? It was then the servants brought in another large bowl of something that looked like cabbage, but Victor recognized ?it¡¯s appearance??immediately, ?ah, ? have you ever tried this before, love? It is called,?sauerkraut, and it is a??most delightful dish I can assure you; would you care to try some??????

"Yes, I think...I remember," Elizabeth slowly considered with an attempt at a smile. "I would like that very much, Victor dear. Things back to normal. Although I thought, oh it surely must be my imagination. But I thought, there was somebody else with me on the swing. We don't have a maid named Abigail, do we? I am so flustered, Victor. I have these...well strange memories that make no sense, and terrible dreams.
?
There was somebody leaning over me, yesterday, throwing chunks of, oh, I cannot even mention it. It doesn't matter, I suppose, only to show you?how feverish I must be, and my imagination of this maid..." Elizabeth mind, as if in a desire to punish her, gave her an image of her more natural self, smiling benignly at somebody else, this Abigail perhaps. What happened to her, she had to wonder, what malady befell her, that she did not feel quite natural about smiling.
?
At least Victor was still here, and he was always so kind to her. She may have glimpsed an instant where his younger self greeted her, and not with coldness and disapproval, that for some reason she felt he would have been entitled to. She could always talk so comfortably to him. ?Those memories, they were all wrong though, somehow. As if an entirely different person lived through. It wasn't right for people to change the way she has, Elizabeth decided.
?
"I am sorry, I must have been difficult, my, Love," Elizabeth tried, her hand tentatively reaching for Victor, hoping to feel something, and afraid at the same time. If only she at least knew what she wanted, why the very sight of him made her feel so odd. Perhaps it was her need for being close to him. That had to be natural, Elizabeth considered, trying to look softer, to feel softer, the way she almost knew she was supposed to feel.

"Yes catapult, technology did a lot of that," Rena said, nodding and giving Henry a pleased smile that he understood.
?
She opted out of clarifying sky rocket anymore as space travel would be too much for them just now for sure.
?
"I guess the government or whatever probably trains assassins but my uncles taught me. It's well a family business but not for all family members as my parents prefer science and my brother Ingvar hasn't decided what he prefers," Rena said casually.
?
"I don't enjoy it for the sake of it, but i enjoy the immortality I get from it and the other powers that one has in the dream realm."
?
?
Rena grinned, blushing and briefly tucking her head into Henry's shoulder as she laughed at his sexual proclamation where she was concerned.
?
"No. Before you I never did...Just like last night I approached you. My uncle is so sex obsessed and my parents are always at one another like it's the best thing ever, my grand parents too. I guess it just felt like too much to me and like it couldn't be that great. I never felt about anyone the way any of them do toward their partner or my uncle to any female with nice curves."
?
She made a face, shaking her head as Leti silently gaped at such frank talk.
?
"After talking once with my uncle I decided to see what it was like. I figured if anyone could show me it would be you. If I didn't like it with you, someone so experienced, I'd just not like it so it was a fair try. We were in my parents lab while the rest went out to lunch. You were working on the computer and I was playing games on my...a smaller thing kind of like this," she said gesturing to her phone, opting not to confuse matters more with the I pod concept.
?
"I came and just sat in our lap, deciding to be bold and direct. I told you...what I just told you and asked if you'd be willing. You were so I suggested a kiss to see if we had chemistry. We sort of...did it in the chair in my parents lab," she said, giggling even though the memory was an old one.
?
It was just still so much out of her character that she felt her cheeks heating at the recounting.
?
"I just wanted to go to your hotel later if we liked the kiss but it didn't work out. I asked if I could go to the hotel with you and try it in a bed and you were definitely interested. We were together always after that practically," she concluded, eyes softening.
?
"It was amazing and I asked you if it was always like that, deciding maybe my uncle was right, and you said no. So I guess we knew we had something. And we enjoy one another's company in general. You told me later you were interested in me for several years but didn't do anything about it out of respect for my parents which considering who you are meant a lot I think. As I wasn't in the market for a relationship I'm glad you didn't," she added with? a slight smile.
?
"Do...young women do that so casually when they are of higher breeden' like you are," Leti asked, aghast.

I have read about such inventions in some recent novel by a novice author.?I don't know technology has its uses, I suppose. But I prefer to use it as a...consumer. That might be the right word. To know its inner most essence would be deviating from the natural sciences, as I see them. Some fundamental principles, perhaps, but more than that, and one goes astray.

Education in killing? Now that one ought to be most handy, but where do you get one? I thought the schools that taught assassins were last seen in Italy when the great families needed them as much as an army. Is there some secret tradition that keeps a school open for skillful students? And how do they recruit prospective students then? This is all very interesting. I must admit. The future has its fine points then.

Henry wondered curiously. He ws half amused at such an outrageous claim, half embarrassed to pursue it, and yet unable to stop himself.????
