Locked Re: Calling on the Doctor (Leti/Pool/Mary/etc)

At mention of entire neighborhoods of the unfortunates Leti couldn't help but give a slight shudder, feeling she was only a step and half up from such herself and clinging to it.
?
Rena nodded to Henry's explanation in understanding, expression serious.
?
"I get that," she told him.
?
"So much is different. With the explosion of technology that is only beginning now with more incorporating of things like electricity, central heating and the phonograph only continue to skyrocket..."He wouldn't know that word, she realized in mild frustration. Rockets weren't invented yet after all. She'd be at least a little amused were she not so stressed. "excellerating," she added quickly.
?
"Anyway, it is something my family even considers odd historically. But it may comfort you, perhaps, to know that in my time, some 150 years from now, you aren't overly into technology either."
?
She gestured to the phone that she still hadn't explained was a phone.
?
"Igor showed you how to utilize this more. You had one but only used it for the basics. Then I suppose I excellerated it a bit more," she added with a slight smile.
?
"But a lot of the technology you don't mess with. Just for some useful features and entertainment."
?
?
Rena laughed when Henry expounded on what a good girl was.
?
"A little of both I suppose. I mean I was always honest with my parents but I didn't behave in a lady like fashion, being more raised by my uncles and father and grandfather more than not. I'm very well educated in anything from science and history to mathematics to music dance and killing."
?
Leti's eyes shot wide at the mention of killing but she remained silent, knowing full well her brain could only take in and sort out what to do with so much at once.
?
Gaze still on Henry, Rena continued, not noticing.? "I was a good girl in that I did my work, didn't party, didn't drink or do drugs, a few drinks at family parties was it and rarely and the entire family was there and so."
?
She shrugged.
?
?
?
"Certainly didn't date or have sex. I preferred to wear...trousers and loose shirts as it makes my work easier + is more comfortable and people wouldn't look at me. I don't think my parents ever loved my choice of attire."
?
She reached up idly to toy with a few strands of her long black hair as she spoke.
?
"So that's what I mean by a good girl. Responsible, respectful and not? into anything they would disapprove of."
?
She grinned then before her expression softened just as quickly.
?
"Until you that is. I told you the truth last night. I thought if I would enjoy the physical pleasures it would be with you. I was curious and was sure if anyone knew what they were doing it'd be you. I hadn't known you were already interested in me but you did nothing about it out of respect to my parents. They weren't happy with us getting together because I indulged in most of the things, if not all, that I mentioned earlier not doing, but they got over it and we're happy and they are glad for that...In their way."
?
?
?
When Henry spoke of understanding social cues more than she, Rena nodded readily.
?
"In my time I'd be fine, for once again I was educated well, but here it's an entirely different ball game as we say. I will definitely need to be looking to you for how to behave and such. I know the obvious things, for I do have manners, but there are so many differences. Like my dad really misses how people had to be introduced like right now before they could just start talking and in my time people can just walk up and talk to you at a party and he hates that."
?
She smiled fondly at the memory.
?
When he spoke of her interests Leti blushed with pleasure thinking he referred to her sharp mind and desire to better herself but her face became perplexed when he spoke of something being against the law.
?
"Well if we're wearing the stuff under our clothes no one would know and it'd be more comfortable. I doubt it's illegal but I'd not be talkin'."
?
Was he refering to the undergarments she wanted to have made? She honestly had no idea but the idea of resting was a relief. Sleeping and feeling safe would be wonderful. Then perhaps her mind could take all of this in and know what to do with it.
?
"Oh just the guest room nearest the two o you would make me feel right safe," she assured.
?
"If you're goin' back up to sleep I'll just follow and you can direct me to it. I wont need nothin' and we won't have to disturb your servants. You can come collect me once you're up and ready if that suits. If the servants come into the room for any reason I'll just tell them you told me to rest here until later when you collect me and that's the truth. Ain't for them to worry bout why I suppose."
?
?
Sounds reasonable," Rena said, then looked to Henry with slightly raised brows before tiredly dropping her head onto his shoulder and lifting one hand to her mouth to cover a yawn. She was so very sleepy after all.

"Well, such a description could apply to my near future. One that I would recognize, one which evolved in a steady fashion out of something I know. A world which does not sound similar to anything I know, that can hardly be said to be my future. It is something I can only imagine, based on your words. Words, that have meaning for you, and reflect no real life I can envision. A world in which you are an active participant, but I am not. You can of course call it what you will, but "my future" is not something I will ever associate with it. It is too divorced from my reality and might as well be called 'your world' instead, for the lack of better terms.
?
An update that is supposed to improve and doesn't? Well, that I can imagine, in principle at least. Some of the reforms the Parliament is trying to pass, are meant to improve the quality of sole lives, but to my mind only create?entire neighborhoods of?the Unfortunates. I suppose the members of either Palate are unaware what effects their laws have in actuality, and are trying to fix what is already working well, in my opinion. Although, at least this device is seemingly doing a lot of what it's supposed to, or else you would discard it entirely since you would have better options..." Realizing that He was trying to apply his common sense and logic to the world he himself had professed not to know, Henry trailed off?with some embarrassment. ?
?
"Again, I am not sure what qualifies for a good girl in your world, but you certainly have not shown yourself to be an impeccable lady, based on our standards. You?have been?either deceiving your parents as all children do, or else, your standards of conduct are quite different from ours.." Henry retorted with a deliciously wicked smile. "Not that I minded, obviously, it is just a point of interest, that are the likelier to misread social cues than I am..." Hyde patiently explained.
?
"Of course she wants to see the clothing...more closely," the good doctor nodded his understanding with a suggestive smile at the barmaid. "You should not hold her back, our Leticia has strong needs," Henry quipped, pleased with himself.
?
"Oh not to worry," he happily reassured their new friend. "I took no offense, besides, I would consider you equally brave, with your...special needs,?you know. Not everybody can rise above the social demands, and openly admit to something that is even punishable by law. Oh no, Leticia dear, you are the brave one, and Rena perhaps, for her willingness to offer comfort through undressing, Ah yes, she can have a choice of rooms, I have expected more visitors over the years, before entertaining too many at a time became too taxing, Many guest rooms to choose from," Henry agreed, beginning to wonder how he would issue such bizarre orders to Poole and Mary.?

Locked Re: Calling on the Doctor (Leti/Pool/Mary/etc)

"It's not my world, love it's your future,"Rena told Henry with a sigh.
"They think an update is good but it usually messes with what is working fine. Very rarely does it improve anything and often makes it worse," she grumbled.
?
Then looked up at him with an offended look on her face that she would hate knowing was cute.
"You think I the likelier of the 2 of us to anger people? I am not into starting trouble. In fact my parents believed I was a good girl until you."
?
"I can believe that," Leti murmured half to herself, then flushed and snapped her mouth shut, reminding herself silently to watch what she said and not to speak out of turn even with interesting friends. They were new friends, after all, and she didn't wish to offend them.
?
"You know you have violent urges. Again the need for your potion, Henry. You can always keep it real with me. I don't care. You make life fun, "Rena told him, giving his hand a squeeze.
?
"You don't do anything that bad really," she added.
"It's probably someone crazy. Just power and crazy don't go well together and...this should not be possible. Time travel isn't possible, but then again what the hell am I doing here then?"
?
?
?
"Can I see the clothing more closely," Leti asked and Rena nodded and stood.
?
?
?
Leti moved around her staring at the dress, then kneeling to examine the strappy?high healed sandals?then asking permission to touch the stockings. When Rena nodded she tugged at the fabric gently near Rena's ankle and marveled at the fabric.
?
?
?
"Wait until you see what I use instead of a stupid corset. It's way better and I bet you could get one made," Rena told Leti.
"I'll have to lift this dress to show you but you're a woman too so it doesn't need to matter and you know Henry's seen it all."
?
?
?
Rena gave a wink to Henry before raising the dress enough so that Leti could see the bra.
?
?
"I've never undressed in front of anyone but you, but all in the name of comfort and friendship," she told Henry with a wink.
?
?
?
Leti gaped in silence for a moment then asked,"But how does it hold everything?
?
?
""Only the chest needs holding if you're not huge. Neither of us are and those corsets take ages?to put on and are uncomfortable. We're slim enough as it is."
?
?
Leti nodded thoughtfully, finally recovered from the glare the doctor had given her that made her stomach sink. She didn't understand what she'd done to upset him and it made her pick at her skirt nervously in a way she thought was likely unflattering.
?
?
?
Considering this she was surprised when he asked what she thought they should do. Her! "Ur...Well...I think sleep is a good idea. I just...It's just...I'm afraid to go home and be there alone in case that man comes after me. My brother was home last night but he's workin' now and...Might I just rest here? Anywhere, just I'd feel safer and if you're goin' into work with me tonight anyway...I promise I won't be no trouble," she said in a rush, looking miserable.
?
"And if I misspoke earlier, I'm sorry...I didn't mean nothin' by it. Just people aren't supposed to show love and the two of you are brave to do it anyway.."
?
She pressed a hand to her mouth, cheeks flushing. Why hadn't she just shut up. He hadn't liked her speaking openly about his personal matters...no matter he'd shown them openly, she thought.
?
"It's nice of you to say," Rena told her, giving her a reassuring smile that did little to settle Leti's nerves.
?
Sitting on Henry's lap once she adjusted her dress, Rena gave him another hug as she smiled at him. The fact he'd admitted caring for her as well, treated her so well even when he had insisted upon how different he was before the potion, it made so many concerns fade away for her.
?
"You likely have a ton of guest rooms. We could put her in one near us, couldn't we? Then we could all get some sleep with a good mean on our stomachs."
?
It seemed they'd about killed all the food on the table, leaving very little for the servants to put away.
?

"I angered people? I don't see how and you, my dear, seem the likelier between us to have done so. Not that I would object to your adventures too greatly either..." Henry Hyde countered with a wicked smile.
?
"Isn't an update a good thing? Your world is passing strange, to use all the wrong terms..." Henry commented but got quickly distracted?by the?sudden hug. His heart disturbingly softening, his initial intention fading, he?changed his mind and simply concurred with Rena's conclusions.
?
"Well, I do like to think of myself as a man of science and open to rational dialogue, not to mention, entertain?novel scientific theories. With that in mind, why should I get cross with you and toss you out? I...feel strongly for you as well," he admitted uncomfortably,?while glaring at Leticia. The little savage girl did not need to make mockery of him just then, if that was somehow on her savage mind, which he would not put past her.
?
Relieved that?the barmaid?did not betray her mirth or mockery of his intentions, Hyde thoughtfully nodded. "Well, now, I don't know. I would personally consider it a good idea to catch up on my sleep. What did you have in mind? We can accost your assailant of course, but that might be better done with a fresh head. What think you?" Henry wondered, feeling more tired now, that he was forced to deal with the unexpected and the uncomfortable.

"Um...you probably pissed a lot of people off over the years, but I don't care," Rena answered distractedly when Henry asked why people would want to come after them.
"+ you said someone was tampering with your notes. Granted moving me through time was...seemingly messing with me harder but still. Someone wanted you thrown off at least, right?"
?
She frowned at the phone's screen after looking up at him with a brief smile. Gaze following his to the update comment she sighed.
?
?
"God damn it! I don't want IOS 20! It just keeps getting worse. Not that I can update it anyway because the means with which to do so are quite a bit in the future."
?
She laughed nearly histaricly.
?
"But why? The thing is right here, so why not just let it," Leti asked.
?
"Because it won't work. It's too much to explain right now while we have worse to worry about but trust me. This thing is useful but also a pain...a bother."
?
She looked back at Henry, staring for a moment before reaching over and throwing her arms around him, struggling to keep tears of relief from her eyes.
?
"You believed me. You aren't throwing me out!"
?
She squeezed him tightly.
"I love you..."
?
Smiling nearly giddily she clung to him while answering his other questions.
?
"As for how my family knew of you, I didn't lie last night. They read of you. That is the first way they knew of you. Just the way you likely read of my grandfather if you read Frankenstein. However later, not later for you, of course, you meet them. You are attracted to a bar they opened to hopefully meet more like minded people. My grandfather got you to go to my mom's lab because he knew how badly she'd want to meet and work with you."
?
She shrugged.
?
"None of that is relevant to anything right now, of course. It was all honestly done I assure you. If you trust no one else, know you can always trust me no matter? what. I said that last night and I meant every word. You are...everything to me as I think you already know."
She gave him a meaningful look running a hand over his chest.
?
"That's very nice,"Leti said.
"I mean it...very sweet and romantic. A thing you don't see every day. But...what we gonna do now?"

"Did you really? Perhaps you did," Henry stated placidly. "That day felt somehow hazy, so filled with events that I find it difficult to separate some fantastical ideas in my head from what really took place. I thought I was paying attention, but if I happen to be wrong, the fault lies entirely with you, being as charming as you are. Nonetheless, if you could remind me in which context your family learned of me, I am not sure I can recall that specific conversation.
?
And when you can stop aging, by working with some beings, whatever the terms may be, you are no longer precisely human. Not according to the most commonly accepted definition," Hyde stated matter of factly. "It's not a criticism by any means, being human is probably not the height of evolution at any rate," he speculated, idly considering the enchanting green creatures he had dreamt of. "But humans, they are unlikely to be. So, you were doomed, on both sides, to avoid being human, I think. Perhaps, that is even part of your attraction to me," the good doctor pleasantly smiled.
?
Distracted for a second? by looking at the screen of the bizarre bit of equipment, Henry carefully pointed at the writing in the settings submenu he had inadvertently stumbled upon. "But how does it know that you should be updating to this IOS 20 thing. How can it talk to you? Do humans talk to other beings in your world? Is it a common practice to do so? The man who made himself, that sound?almost poetic, and that happens to be me, well that is...ironic might be the word for it,?" Henry decided smugly.
?
"And what do you mean, that's why somebody is messing with us? First of all, somebody is messing with you more directly. Secondly, why should our exceptional natures justify somebody messing with us, if anything, our differences should?preclude people from messing with us, unless they are...the authorities," Hyde concluded thoughtfully.?

Locked Re: Calling on the Doctor (Leti/Pool/Mary/etc)

Rena found herself clinging to the table. Lack of sleep, too much to drink and now stress made her light headed.
?
"I told you last night my family knew of you," She nearly mumbled in response to Henry's question concerning her mother.
?
"No people in 2020 don't create themselves," she added nearly dully.
?
She wanted to be relieved that he hadn't lost it over seeing her with someone else, but likely his mind was being assaulted with too much information.
?
"They're human. Grandmother works for beings that taught her how to stop aging and my grand father...well they had kids together so I guess he's human enough just better. A more perfected man made human."
?
?
Leti, who had been startled and confused by the doctor's joking comment about her making her move found her attention returning to Rena's words.
?
"What like Frankenstein?"
?
?
Rena nodded. "Exactly like Frankenstein. Well not like...That book, it was true. But the way it was written was not exactly ordinary. Shelly told the truth about having a dream about the book, but the thing is...she was sent that dream by the people my grandmother works for," she concluded, turning to Henry to say the last bit.
?
"I'm glad I'm already sittin' down," Leti said, reaching for the phone again.
?
"Was this thing called anyway."
?
"It does a lot of things," Rena said, avoiding saying that it was a phone because she knew that wouldn't be?believed and right now she couldn't call anyone on it anyway so technically it wasn't one right now.
?
"It stores photos, it has a camera. I can take good color photos like those right now if I want. It stores music like what you heard. I can store files on it. I can play games on it."
?
She took the phone and opened mind craft and showed them how it worked. Leti stared.
?
Taking another breath, Rena closed the game file and went to her note files. She opened the one where she'd written down the potion ingredients when Jekyll had listed them for her mom and she handed it to Henry wordlessly.
?
"I know those because you told me. Mom wanted to know because she was concerned for you if...if anyone m essed with us like they're doing now."
?
She drew in a breath.
?
"Henry...You told me in 2020. That's how I know so much about you..what you think, what you will want to eat, anything because you and I are very involved. The man who made himself...he's you."
?
?
"Wow,"Leti breathed.
?
She looked at Henry trying to understand how and why he'd want to look like that. What potion she was talking about. Perhaps he did it with a potion but why? Having no answers to any of that she did have one to something else.
?
"No wonder someone is messin' with the two of you," she said in a nearly awed tone.

"Ah, your mother is aware of me, that is odd? I did not know we ran in similar circles? I suppose I should have remembered her then, but alas, I must plead ignorance. I suppose she is not as striking as you are? I want to say I would have seen a family resemblance to you, in anyone who introduced themselves to me, but that may honestly depend on how many features you share between you..."Henry spoke uncomfortably, the thrill of anticipation passing, replaced by a strange feeling of discomfort.
?
"Making?your move, I see, I knew it would happen eventually, just assumed, it would take you more time to get bolder," Henry told Leti, with a cheerful?smile on his lips to lighten the mood. He thought she stood out among other barmaids, and may have some Lesbian tendencies but was not fully certain, until now.
?
"So your grandparents are not completely human then," Henry wondered, intrigued.
?
"And you know of the future, how unusual. Well then, how common are people in that time who create themselves? Any of them use...well which ideas for self creation do they use?" his scientific curiosity demanded, making all other inquiries less pertinent.
?

Locked Re: Calling on the Doctor (Leti/Pool/Mary/etc)

"My mom has always wanted to work with you. She creates life...calls it life science but alchemy is indeed very much a part of it. She has attempted to modernize it a bit with newer technologies to my granddad's disapproval in part, but she has succeeded some. She did not use all of her ideas as my granddad was sure some would not have positive results. In other words, old school is sometimes best."
?
Rena felt the panic rising in her chest as she answered Henry's question, hands shaking as they held the phone. Her breath was coming faster beyond her control as she scrolled through the pictures for what she wanted. Leti got up suddenly from her chair and came to stand behind Rena's shoulder to better see the pictures, eyes round and mouth slightly a gape as the images moved across the screen until Rena stopped at one that made the bar maid recoil slightly.
?
"What's that un," she breathed.
"Looks scary."
?
Rena leaned to show Henry the image to which Leti referred. Grumlatch sat looking at the camera nearly challengingly with his glowing yellow eyes.
?
"My mom created him. His name is Grumlatch. He is what she calls her little under the bed monster. He has a lot of bear in im, some dog genetics at my father's suggestion for loyalty, some monkey, and the brain of a 3 year old child so he is smart."
?
Leti made a soft sound of horror or perhaps distress but did not move.
?
"She didn't kill the kid. It died in a car accident or something. It wasn't ill, though or she'd not have wanted the parts."
?
"But such ain't possible, is it," Leti wondered half to Henry and half to herself.
?
"Most would agree with you but most don't have the knowledge my mother was born into," Rena said.
"She feels as you do, Henry, that most scientists and doctors are limited. She didn't come up with all this, though. She only improved and expanded upon another man's ideas. The man who created my grandfather to be a more improved human. Smarter, faster, stronger."
?
She then moved to the image of Frank and Fredericka smiling with their arms around one another.
?
"That's my grand parents...It is a recent picture. They don't age. He is..."
?
Rena hesitated then drew in a deep breath. Letting it out slowly she found herself blinking back tears of sudden overwhelming nearly paralyzing panic.
?
"Look I know how crazy this is going to sound," she said, words poring from her in a rush.
?
"I know how it will sound but you've got to remember that I hold proof in my hands. I wear proof on my body. I can show you not only my eyes but that I am faster and stronger as well. I am not lying to you. There would be no point, but...we may all be in danger so I have to be completely honest even if you aren't ready for it. I mean it's going to be a lot to take in. It is going to be too much to take in and I get that but you need to know and not to tell you could be placing us all in danger."
?
Meeting Henry's gaze with a pleading look of panic she added,"I love you more than anything and I can't be a part of anything happening to you. I can't even tell you what I am afraid of! Just that it has abilities that you and I don't so we may be screwed."
?
She used her cloak to wipe at her eyes, struggling to get it together. Fuck she never cried.
?
"What's screwed," Leti asked, looking nearly as eager and excited as Henry had earlier over the entire situation.
?
"Done for or something," Rena said.
"At least extremely inconvenienced."
?
Leti thought to herself that Americans had very strange words indeed, but right now more interesting things were going on than?her pondering over language.
?
?
"Leti. You were startled by my clothes. You have every right to be," Rena said.
"I mean a whore would wear far more..."
?
She stood and let the cloak fall so that the short, above the knee frilly dress that she felt made her look like a cake topper showed.
"It's not even an undergarment for those are still far longer, right?"
?
Leti nodded dumbly.
"Never seen thee like," she managed.
It was scandalous to show legs and Leti could see the dress had been made short intentionally.
?
"It isn't torn," she told Henry, gesturing to the insanely high hem line.
"Look it's got stitchin. It's supposed to be?that short."
?
Leti shook her head of curly red brown hair incredulously at her own words then moved to her seat once again.
?
"Well in 2020 this will be an acceptable fashion," Rena said.
"I prefer to cover my body more but my grandma, who would never wear this, thinks it looks good on me and that I should wear it for him."
?
She nodded at Henry before sighing and lifting the cloak to cover herself once again before resuming her own seat.
?
While she did, Leti had lifted the unattended phone and, as she had seen Rena do earlier, had begun to scroll through pictures. She gasped, nearly dropping the brightly lit screen thing when she saw Rena sitting on the lap of...something. He dressed a bit like Dr. Henry but had a funny shaped pointed head, a long face with a pointed hooked?nose and chin, wicked eyes, sharp teeth that reminded her of knives, long red claw like nails on his hands and green skin. Rena wore a similar dress and nothing to cover the indecency. The 2 looked very happy.
?
"Um...That another creation of your Mum," she asked uneasily.
?
Rena did not look pleased that the picture was on the screen. In fact trepidation came across her features as she shot Henry a worried look.
?
"No. He...He created himself. Or rather...He chose to look this way," she told Leti.

Locked Re: Calling on the Doctor (Leti/Pool/Mary/etc)

"That is unusual," Henry Hyde calmly agreed, while a strange thrill of anticipation went through him. It was akin to...a predator's sensing the prey, he supposed but could not fully account for it in the given circumstances. It could be some anticipation of the future, a further relishing of the intoxicating experience that was Rena, but he usually associated it with his darker needs. Well, perhaps time would tell. If the man who affected Leticia thusly was somehow involved in all of this, that could prove interesting.
?
"Live wire," that was, inexplicably how he felt, as if Rena pulled these very words from his very mind. Impossible of course, or was it? Given her unusual admission of a grandparent being born through science...Well, that was a fascinating prospect of its own, drawing his mind in various directions, suggesting bizarre images and making him, un comfortably, distractible.
?
"What kind of a science?" Henry wondered at last, unable to contain his curiosity. "I am fond of scientific discoveries, but have not heard of any field making sufficient progress to create a human, unless you mean your words somehow metaphorically," he questioned almost jealously. What he didn't say of course, that of all the scientists he'd heard of he himself came the closest to modifying the genetic component of humanity. Admittedly, his discovery was still at the experimental stage, but even that stage would be deemed impossible by modern standards.
?
The fact that somebody beat him to it, to an astonishing degree, was disturbing, disappointing even. There were rumors of alchemists and their achievements, but Henry's approach seemed to produce more practical results than any of the documented ones. Unless, Rena was right, and a different scientist realized that modification or extraction of human nature was unnecessary, when life could be made from scratch. Although how, what the prima materia may have been, Henry could not have guessed. It was all, strange, almost sad, and yet thrilling at the same time, he had to admit. No woman before Rena could make him experience all of these emotions at once.
?
"Most unusual developments, a work of ...genius," Henry commented on what seemingly astounded the barmaid. He could add that the difference between a genius and a madman was not as extensive as one may surmise, but did not wish to spoil the moment.

"I suppose but funny thing he did that to me the night I met both of you," Leti said when Henry suggested she may have seen something the overly thin man hadn't wanted her to? see or notice.
?
?
Rena frowned in concern when Henry said the notes were in his handwriting.
?
"What? would the new ingredients do," she asked, concerned.
?
"Why do you have? to change your eye color,"Leti said, unknowingly echoing Henry's t thought.
?
"Well...Because...If I don't,they kind of glow a little in the dark. You'd to see it now," she added hastily.
?
"I inherited that from my grandfather. One could say he was born through science but? that's jumping ahead and this is all insane sounding enough without me doing that."
?
Rena forgot to eat for a moment, clasping her hands self consciously in her lap while the ac/dc song continued to? play on her phone.
?
" Are?the? words supposed to? mean somethin'," Leti asked.
?
"What's a live wire?"
?
?
Rena couldn't help but flick a small smile in Henry's direction when Leti asked about the words.
?
"It's...it's about electricity and comparing that to a person and relationship, I suppose," rena replied carefully.
"The guitars used are electric. that's why the sound is so different. It would not be like anything either of you have ever heard."
?
"Sure not," Leti agreed.
?
"Never heard a voice like is either. or? maybe it's the singing style," she mused thoughtfully.
?
?
"So why are you showin' us this? Your family doin' this new electric guitar thing then?"
?
Rena shook her head then proceeded to show them family photos on her phone.?
"Just that I have things you've never heard of," she said simply.

Leti gasped when the images flickered? on and? off the screen.

"That is a good question, I suspect," Henry Hyde slowly agreed. "I may not know the answer to it, unless your skills of observation became suddenly problematic. I did not mind them myself, but I had nothing to Hyde. The other gentleman, on the other hand, might have wished for something subtle that could incriminate him, be removed from your memory. Something only you would notice and other would not. So, although it might have something to do with us, it could also have something to do directly with you. Although, I cannot disagree that it is quite a coincidence.
?
Yes, don't mention it. We can go and confront him, and see what he has to say to his defense. What is it, Rena Dear, ah yes, the notes were done in my own hand writing style, or a good imitation thereof..." Henry mused while considering the ability to change one's eye color, as well as the necessity to do so. His new lady love seemed to have every bit as many intriguing secrets as himself, and that tantalized him to no end.?

Re: Life in London

"I didn't say I wished to forget anything, but considering we just met and you know little of how trust worthy I am it seemed risky that you tell me this. It was an observation and nothing particularly more," Ben told Rebecca almost gently.
?
Idly he considered how lonely her life must? be and how removed she had to feel from others.
?
"It is, admittedly, a lot to take in."
?
?
?
Kol merely shrugged indifferently to his sister's comments. He could explain character differences to her concerning himself and her but then the conversation would only degenerate.
?
?
Instead he asked her another question as he?lounged back in his chair.
?
?
"So...If you do turn him, if he were to agree this night? or even later, what? do you think would happen?"
?
Ben gave first one then the other a glance, a mix of curious and concerned, but he remained silent on the matter for? the time being. As he had said this was a lot to take in.

¡°If it is your wish then I will take away the memory of this evening then? You have my word neither of us will harm you.¡± Rebekah offered having noticed he appeared startled by her honesty on the matter and while she couldn't claim to be at all surprised she was a little disappointed. ¡°For the record, you did ask why¡I merely decided to be upfront with you.¡±
?
Her expression grew distant as she thought about Marcel who would always hold a piece of her heart regardless of whether they were ever allowed to be together. It was a subject she knew well enough to leave alone when speaking with Niklaus for fear he would surely dagger her. ¡°I never implied it was a matter originally intended to be discussed this evening.¡± She carefully pointed out.
?
She cast a glaring look toward Kol not particularly caring for his little jabs about her choices. ¡° I hardly think our brother is in any position to be quite so judgmental considering his own choices.¡±

?Victor gave a warm chuckle when Elizabeth stated that she would not be envied if everyone had some of her perfume; oh but you would still be envied, you see, it takes far more than cologne or perfume to make beauty, beauty is from within, and your beauty is both within and outward. ? ?He listened and nodded with approval as she revealed what she remembered, you are right, it probably is better that you don¡¯t remember the wedding that much, since that was the day when¡, He glanced away to hide sudden?tears that threatened to fall. ? His expression brightened as she recalled the carriage rides and picnic lunches, very good, and do you remember how we used to take those long afternoon walks into the forest? No one knew where we were, and sometimes those walks lasted until nightfall. ? ?And do you remember that one morning when I came for you in a carriage? We drove away, and noone knew where we were, we stopped by that stream in the forest, the one we used to call¡, Our stream; we did nothing inappropriate that we shouldn¡¯t do before marriage, but we sad at that stream, and talked, we skipped stones, and made our plans for the future. ? ?What about that large wooden porch swing you had at your home? ? ?We used to sit there for hours, just talking and dreaming; I remember that one afternoon, you fell asleep on my shoulder, and I just sat there and watched you. At last, I kissed you to awaken you, do you remember that? ? ? Oh, sweetheart, I was a fool to spend so much time in the lab, away from you; science is science, and it is wonderful, it definitely has its place. But you have shown me a whole other reason to live, you are the very essence and meaning of life. ? James approached then, and softly asked if they wanted anymore of anything else, before the desserts were brought to the table; Victor nodded with approval, yes, some more of the roast beef, if you please. James nodded, then looked at Elizabeth, and for you, ma¡¯am?????

God loves you.

?When Rena thanked the servants, both Mary and Jean gave smiles of appreciation. Pool replied, it is our pleasure, mistress, if anyone of you needs anything else, you have only to call us. They served a little bit of everything to everyone, and here is the rest of the food, pool commented, here whenever you want it, we will humbly take our?leave now. They followed his example, and bowed to Henry, Rena, and Letty. ? ?Come along, Pool? instructed, let us with haste, away. They quietly exited the room, with the butler in the lead, followed by Mary, then Jean, making the entire ordeal look as if it were at least a small Sarah Moni. ?Once they had left the room, Mary inquired, I wonder what they will discuss in there? ? ? Pool gave a soft sigh,?then replied, ¡®tis ?none of our concern, at least at the present time, dear Mary, come, let us be about our own business. ? ?Mary frowned, then replied, better the simple affairs of the servants, then the sorted affairs of the Masters, I suppose. ? ? Jean shrugged then and stated, I¡¯m must?hints go and attend to the laundry; and I¡, Must go and make certain that the lady¡¯s?clothing is correctly matched, Mary stated. And I must go and see to the training of some new recruits, Pool replied, therefore let us away to our own business. ? Once Mary and Jean had gone, ? Gave a sigh, combined of tiredness and relief; it has been a long night, he thought to himself, and still you have had to be up early, trying to comfort this young lady, and then helping to prepare refreshment for the master mistress and their guest. Therefore, what crime is it now if you retire to your chambers, to bed, and let these other two work? It isn¡¯t as if you will be a sluggard all day; ? He glanced about as his thought process is continued, I do¡, Have new recruits to train and supervise, but they will not be here until later today, perhaps late this afternoon, and the mistress did promise me I could sleep in this morning, I have not yet gotten to make good on that promise, so, I shall away to attend to my¡, Owned business. As Dr. Henry gave his explanation,Leti's face showed flustered shock and horror, often times her slender hands fluttered up to cover her mouth as he spoke of a girl named Rachel forgetting her life and remembering someone else's instead. That much violation...was horrifying. Thus was the idea of what could've been done?to her.
?
"But why would he choose me and why the night the 2 of you came in," she sated thee most important question that she felt tied them to this situation potentially.
?
"Thank you," she said gratefully when he offered to return to The Black Bess and confront the man.
"hank you, Dr. Enry. I would feel ever so much better if we could make him account for himself."
?
?
When the doctor confessed his own strange day, Leti was surprised he'd share so much with her and felt a proud pleasure at that, and an odd excited sense of belonging to something exciting. Of being a part of something. She knew she was likely wrong but allowed herself to enjoy it anyway.
?
?
Rena's expression grew more and more worried as Henry spoke.
?
"Henry...The handwriting in your notes...the additions, was it at all like yours?"
?
Her gaze was worried as it rested on his face.
?
"Your eyes...they're a different color," Leti exclaimed.
?
"I swear last night they were black and now they're such? light blue they're almost white!"
?
?
Observant, Rena thought and smiled at the other young woman, nodding.
?
"Last night I wore something on my eyes to change the color. this is my natural color. I'll explain later. if you really care why but right now there are pressing matters. And this as well as everything else said here, I...we need you to keep to yourself in the strictest of confidence."
?
Leti nodded.
"Of course. I never heard n such to change a person's eye color," she marveled.
?
she nearly asked whatever for but then realized Rena had said she'd explain later so left it at that.
?
"If they added new steps or ingredients to your potion I'd not use them," Rena told Henry worriedly.
?
She sighed then and drew out her phone from the case strapped to her leg. Turning it on she drew in a deep breath.
?
"Okay...It's my turn but my issue is...well more complicated and will take longer to explain."
?
Looking at Leti she said,"I...I don't know if I had a memory issue or not but though I wanted very much to be with Henry I didn't intentionally come yesterday. I remember being in Amsterdam. I was dizzy, took a step forward, heard something like a wind tunnel, maybe stumbled and was outside the Black Bess. Not knowing what else to do I went in looking for him, and he was there."
?
Her expression showed relief at that memory.
?
"But how did you know he'd be there if you didn't know where you were," Leti asked.
?
"I'll explain but lets try to make this organized,"Rena said, feeling doubtful that? it would remain thus. Scrolling through her phone she leaned forward so both could see and opened a music file. Lithe wire by AC/DC began to play ass Bon scott sang.
?
With no electric guitars yet or aggressive singing styles, it was no surprise when Leti gave a start, moving back and nearly dropping a fork.

Locked Re: Calling on the Doctor (Leti/Pool/Mary/etc)

Henry Hyde did not like hearing that there were trouble. Well, if they were of medical or financial, or sexual kind, he could understand those and attend to them. But troubles in general, they left a sour taste in his mind and made his hands ball into fists. Rena's arrangements with the servants and Letti may have been splendid, worthy of the future lady of the house, but her unfortunate remark added to his already tense mood.
?
Yet, to his own surprise, the good mood began returning to Henry when the barmaid described the problem. It was somehow less alarming than he'd imagined it to be. More...intriguing might have been the word, as he recalled Dr Reynolds experiments in consciousness.
?
"Memories are curiously fleeting at times. A colleague of mine experimented with a girl named Rachel. He used the methods of some stage performers, hypnotists, who could mesmerize the audience, supposedly. Only he was able to do it from the inside, by stimulating an electrical charge...well never mind that. Only the girl Rachel completely forgot her?own name, her mother, her village. She remembered instead being somebody else, and being able to see...well, what she thought of as God. So, technically, I have heard of memories being completely lost. Truncated at a certain point, or lost completely. Your case is clearly not?as radical...The interesting thing is...what kind of an effort would be required to achieve such a feat.
?
My colleague, another medical doctor, of sorts, is a firm believer in hypnotism and that their methods could be improved?inside of a human body. But you would have remembered anything electrocuting you, it would have been accompanied by some pain. And yet, if you were ordered to forget?it...oh no, what am I saying, the touch of the hand could likely be used by a hypnotist as a sort of a signal. Yes, that would be much simpler. I think.
?
So,?dearest Leticia, it appears you might have a stage performer frequenting the Black Bess. How...unexpected. I thought your establishment was worthy enough, a little too dull perhaps. I may have been wrong. I am curious though. I suppose you do not recall performing any physical favors for the gentleman, so to speak?? Well, that would be too bold of him. No, we would simply need to confront him, make certain he does not consider such in the future. Not everybody can remain as pleasant of a company as myself after all. If he feels you could be enthralled, he would strike again. This may only have been the prelude,?an experiment to find out how susceptible you are, I fear. Yes, very unusual.
?
You are correct of course. My day yesterday was far from regular, the notes?I locked away in a drawer suddenly surfaced with additional comments added to them, and I do not like that turn of events one bit. There are social opponents of sorts, spies even, but who would even think to go to all the trouble to retrieve some unassuming notes. For that matter, who would even be aware of them? My servants, as well meaning as they may be, hardly possess the necessary skills to distinguish my failed experiments described in the notes from successful ones. Yes, it is all very puzzling indeed, but at least, your problem we could hope to contend with, nothing a few fists in the face would not resolve," Henry Hyde pleasantly reassured the girl,?finding himself oddly waking up in the wake of his rushing ideas.?????

"We'll all? take some of everything. We'll need it," Rena said, speaking the final bit half to herself and trying not? to feel grim.
"Thank you all," she added, giving thee 3 servants a warm smile.
?
"Yes please and thank you," Leti echoed accepting some? of everything, and studying the fine dishes and lavish fair in awe while trying to? be casual about it and not to gape. She hadn't expected a fine breakfast when coming to disturb Dr. Henry and his lady. Part of her still wanted to cringe and await the sure to come explosion for someone such as she bothering them and miss using their address, but the open friendly way both of them behaved toward her had her truly doubting such would come. Neither the doctor nor his lady looked much better rested than she did and Lady Rena's hair was hanging down her back uncombed as she had obviously dressed in haste, but she wasn't angry or demanding to know why Leti would think it acceptable to show up this early...In one way Leti was relieved but in another...it caused a pit of dread to open in her belly. She best? fill it with breakfast, she decided dryly. If Rena wasn't surprised too greatly that she was here, that couldn't be good.
?
?
Once the servants were gone she took a breath, murmured her thanks while apologetically meeting Henry's eyes then began to tell her story. She spoke of how the ill looking man on which they had commented the previous night had called her over, roughly grabbing her wrist. She recalled how she couldn't remember a word of what he had said to her or the lady with him either. She explained how the next thing she recalled after his rough grip on her wrist snatching her toward him was walking across the bar with a tray of drinks for another table.
?
"Right in the middle of something I was and with no memory of it what so ever! That's never happened to me before, course else I'd not be here desturbin' your rest. Just it was right after you left he did somethin' to my head...So maybe it had to do with you somehow...I waas worried and scared and figured you should know...and...And I'd not mind knowin' what was done to me."
?
?
She bit at her lip, clasping her hands briefly in worry. She was always so careful to avoid men touching her in the bar. She'd gotten fast at dodging groping hands, but this one had touched her mind somehow and she didn't? like it one bit.
?
"You had both spoken of having a strange day I remember so...I don't know, if it could be related. Have you ever heard of such," she asked turning her gaze almost imploringly to Henry.
