SH: Outside the Diner (Vlad/Jenica/Mina/etc)

Jenica for the most part ignored what was said as she fought to get a handle on her feelings of pain and anger. Though she¡¯d been mildly aware of something having been said that could either be construed as a warning or even a threat in response to her suggestion about his attitude. But at this point she didn¡¯t much care she was just done with all of it.

?

She became almost visibly tense when a hand was placed on her shoulder deciding in that moment she wouldn¡¯t go down without a fight if things started to go sideways. Though one could probably argue that they had already judging by the bloody bite mark on her neck. Half turning as she looked in his direction slowly letting his words sink in. He believed her? When had that happened?

?

¡°I did it because you¡¯re my brother.¡± For her that was reason enough to do what she felt she had to. Family had always been everything to her. She sighed heavily while looking away as she set about answering his other question. ¡°I didn¡¯t know what else to do...one of the gypsies told me of a vision one of the elders had. She said you were to be beheaded on the battlefield.¡±

?

The thought brought tears to her eyes though she fought to keep them from falling. ¡°I couldn¡¯t let it happen. I had to do something...anything.¡± She knew as the older sibling he¡¯d always felt it was duty to protect her and maybe it was.

?

She broke eye contact with her brother to look over at Mina who began telling her about Renfield and the book both being real. ¡°There¡¯s been talk among hunters that the descendants of Van Helsing and the others carried on his legacy. But I don¡¯t know if there¡¯s any truth to it.¡±

?

¡°Problem?¡± Her brow furrowed as she repeated the word. His choice of words combined with the fact he wanted none of them killed had made her curious. She slowly looked back to Mina with a raised eyebrow as she wasn¡¯t entirely certain what to make of what the other woman had said. ¡°Turkish mages...not gargoyles.¡± She hoped that cleared a few things up as they¡¯d been who she¡¯d meant when talking of killing some in her demon days.

?

Jenica stood there in silence as the two discussed the ¡®²¹³Ù³Ù²¹³¦°ì¡¯ and soon found herself saying. ¡°There¡¯s an old spell called ¡®shattered mind¡¯ but I can¡¯t say with any certainty whether this is that or just something close.¡± Her gaze shifted back to her brother who seemed proud of having witches under his command. ¡°See, thing is, as ¡®guardians of nature¡¯ most of them are not big fans of vampires.¡±

?

She¡¯d seen more than a few witches take a vampire down without a moments hesitation. They were definitely not to be screwed with. Though she didn¡¯t doubt there were some who were willing to serve her brother. ¡°You¡¯ll get no argument from me about the Turks.¡± Neither the centuries nor her time in hell had changed her feelings towards them, if anything she was far more likely to kill them now.?

?
Vlad wanted with all of his being to say that he wouldn't have needed her help but a beheading...She'd prevented that? But at what cost to her?
?
"I wouldn't have wanted you to go through all that. I could've died and would have to prevent you having to deal with demons and become..."
?
He stopped speaking, not wanting her to take that as him seeing her as one of them because that wasn't the way he'd intended it to come out. Mina tended to misconstrue his intentions of late, and he didn't need two women he loved?angry at him at the same time.
?
?
The thought caused his gaze to move to his wife who was staring at him. Peering hard as if trying to see through something, her hands down from her face and one reaching to lie lightly on his arm.
?
"You're talking like the real Vlad," she said half to herself.
"No impostor would know that."
?
Her tone was quietly insistent as if trying to assure herself and for that and for the Turks had done to her, to him, to his sister, he could finish a thousand wars ending them all right now. His blood boiling, he still had to remain still as he merely nodded to her.
?
"You promised never to leave me again, Mina. I need you to remember that," he said tightly.
"I need you to hold it together."
?
He referred to Ilona's death and the way it had twisted him up inside. She'd promised to be careful and never to leave him again but if she was taken away mentally...
"Okay. I'm trying," she murmured with a small shudder as she nodded back.
?
?
Turning back to his sister, Vlad asked, "How does one fix this shattered mind spell thing? I have a mind to kill every single Turk and I bet that would probably work," he growled, though he was open to his sister's suggestions for a faster result.
?
"The witches who are not fans of vampires, they are not Gypsies, then," Vlad asked, beginning to understand.
?
Reaching for Mina's purse he dug out the phone and texted Franceska. //I need for you to be extremely careful. I believe we are under attack. This is serious.//
?
He didn't need the dream police as it were after him if anything happened to the girl and Renfield but oddly enough he would be disturbed on a deeper level as well. As he'd once told Mina she reminded him a bit of Bogden, the only real friend he'd ever had. It would displease him were she to die.
?
?
"These descendants of Helsing, if they live they can be handled," he added to his sister, distractedly.
?
"For now you remain with us."
?
One more person to keep safe, but he wasn't he owed her that much and more. Something he would have to digest later. Mina would surely have soothing words onthe matter when she was herself again. His gaze returned to her and he suddenly felt lost and hated it.

I'm friends with the monster that's under my bed.
I get along with the voices inside of my head.
