Package, Damon/Bonny
开云体育A package...something sinister that he couldn't
ignored no matter how hard he tried...Because he wanted to do what was best for
Elena for once, but this didn't feel like it. So rather than responding to Bonny
he simply showed up.
The knock in the door was more hesitant than
impatient which annoyed him too for some reason. This wasn't at all going as
planned.? Perhaps that meant he shouldn't try doing the right
thing.

Bonnie looked towards the door with one eyebrow raised upon hearing someone knocking. No one that she knew would bother knocking so that left her wondering who might be paying them a visit. Maybe a potential student or she supposed it could be one of the two people interested in a teaching job though the latter would likely just make contact through the usual channels first.? ? She pocketed her own cellphone before placing Damon’s on the small package sitting on the coffee table before getting to her feet and heading over to answer the door. Fully prepared to offer some form of apology to the prospective teachers if they’d arrived together as neither Caroline nor Alaric were there presently. ? “Damon.” He was just about the last person she’d expected to find standing there when she’d opened the door. “It’s in here on the coffee table.” If she hadn’t been so angry and hurt and scared for Elena she might have been happier to see him. She left the door open for him to come inside as she headed back to the couch. ? Already working on a backup plan for getting her friend back safely because she didn’t feel he could be counted on to even care that Elena’s life was in danger. |
?
He really thought he'd keep her safe this
way.? Not only that, he'd not have to watch her die. But no. It hadn't
worked out that way and now even his best friend was angry with him. Damon let
out a sigh.? It hadn't worked. He was back without even wanting to
be.? Slowly the realization had sunk in over the past twelve or so
hours.? It should not have been that easy...though Elena always did have
that effect on him.? That effect he loved and hated and feared and now
apparently could flip his switch back the other way.
?
?
He knew eventually would come the pain over his
brother.? That and over so many other things he'd sought to avoid. Now he
was only flat and worried, but he knew that grace period wouldn't last
long.? The fact he cared at all, the fact he was here at all was room for
concern.? Deciding that apologizing would only make him weaker than he
already felt he looked at the letter instead, then blinked.
?
"Second?damn time people have claimed to be
all in with Dracula!"
Slowly he turned to the witch to once he'd been so
close.
"Do you know anything about this?? Because
last time I checked, we weren't living in a Bram Stoker movie."

“I don’t care if he claims to be ‘all in’ with the devil himself...he’s got Elena!” Bonnie doubted that showing her anger would do any good but with everything that had happened she had to let some of it out. She stood facing him casting a pointed look towards the small package he’d yet to open. The witch folded her arms tightly across her chest as her gaze lingered on Damon. ? “What I know is that my best friend is god only knows where probably being tortured by someone you pissed off. So she’s probably scared and in pain...she’s probably sure that she’s gonna die because she knows you’re not coming for her.” It wasn’t hard to say all of this convincingly because she didn’t trust the man who’d kidnapped her friend. She knew her role in this and she’d do it if it meant bringing Elena home safely.? ? “Ohhh if this is a Bram Stoker novel I’m perfectly okay with that if it means there’s a chance this guy gets it in his head that she’s his Mina because then at least she’d be safe.” She didn’t know if anything she’d said had even gotten through to him and quite honestly was already planning on going to the Mikaelsons for help.? ? ? |
?
Damon bristled at the idea of Elena being anyone's
Mina.? She as his...or was she? Did he deserve her now?
He opened the package without
comment,?expression twisting into a silent snarl.
Fixing things wasn't his strong point and Bonnie
obviously wanted something fixed, or for him to apologize for...doing what he
had to do.
"I don't see how you don't get there was no other
choice," he said flatly.
His mind went back to the couple in the
road.
"There was a girl and guy, humans, I was going to
feed from them"
He snorted.
"The little guy claimed to be Renfield...The girl
looked like your typical goth chick overly white skin, long black hair,
Victorian dress and a big bat necklace like Lily freaking Munster, weird nearly
white blue eyes...kinda tall and thin. The Renfield guy was in a suit, kinda old
fashioned, messy short white hair and crazy eyes."
He looked momentarily embarrassed.
"And trust me, I know how this
sounds."
He was.not.apologizing.for.doing.what.he.must."Do
you wanna help me get to her?"
He did not have too much pride to ask for help for
Elena, though. He was at least aware that he may not know who he was dealing
with especially if they were playing ridiculous games.

Bonnie picked up on his wordless response to the remark she’d made about Elena which caused her to wonder whether there was a chance something had led him to flip his switch again. Had it actually bothered him to think of Elena with anyone else? But she knew better than to comment on it because there was also a chance she was mistaken. She looked to the vampire as both anger and hurt flashed inside of her eyes at his words.? ? “No other choice!? You couldn’t just turn to the people who cared about you like any other sane person would have done? We all lost someone last year Damon.” She shifted a little trying to keep her emotions in check as best she could though it was difficult to do when a close friend would rather turn his humanity off then do what friends did in times of loss.? ? The witch took a deep breath to steady herself before continuing. “I stood beside you at his funeral and gave you my word that I would find a way to wake Elena up. You couldn’t at the very least have held onto that hope?” She’d known she couldn’t bring his brother back to life but returning the woman he loved was something she’d felt confident she could do. ? She was quiet while he described the couple who’d started all of this when they’d had this misfortune to cross paths with Damon while his humanity was off. It wasn’t easy to do considering how badly she’d wanted to give him a piece of her mind but she’d managed. “Whatever game it is that you’re playing...I am NOT in the mood. You don’t care what happens to Elena. I’ll go after her myself.” ? She knew it was a risky move testing the waters like that but it seemed the most direct way of discovering whether his humanity was on without having to say the words.? ? |
?
Damon glared.
"I'm not playing any game.? I didn't say I
believed their story, I just told you what they said."
He shook his head, frowning vaguely skyward, hands
jamming deep into his pockets.
"I'm sure I did something to someone that thinks
this is a good way to get revenge.? Only why they're playing the Dracula
card is beyond me.? They're aware of vampires, so they'd know we are
equally aware of what is real."
?
He couldn't explain to her that losing his brother
had been worse than he'd thought. He'd planned to wait for Elena to wake
up.? He'd been sure he could hold out, but losing his brother had gotten
rapidly worse instead of easing up in the slightest.
"You can't know...as a mortal what it's like to
have someone around for that long.? Someone who is always going to be there
even if he isn't because you aren't speaking for a decade or two.? It's
different than gone and the grief you humans experience is as fleeting as your
little?lives."
He heard the words come out cutting in a way he
hadn't exactly intended.? It was the truth, though and she always wanted
that from him until she got it, just like Elena.
"And I'm going with you.? We have no idea who
we're getting into after all, so you're not going alone."
His lips gave a slight twitch at his own play on
words, but his grim bleak expression returned quickly.

“I really don’t care whether you believe their story....the only thing I care about is getting my best friend back from the psychopath that kidnapped her because you pissed him off.” Bonnie wished that she could pretend everything was fine between the two of them but there was just so much hurt and anger that she felt over not only his actions but at the loss of Enzo.? ? “You know what? Screw you.” It was the first response that came to mind when he’d made it seem as if his loss was so much worse than those of everyone else. The Bennett witch scoffed, shaking her head at being informed of his intentions to go with her on this particular rescue mission. “Why? Because honestly I can do just fine on my own telling him that you don’t give a damn about her without putting Elena through having to hear it directly from you.” ? She could imagine just how badly that would hurt Elena and didn’t doubt for a second he’d take pleasure in that. “If I get in over my head at least she won’t die alone.” She didn’t know how much of her conversation with her friend was honestly how things were and how much of it was for her benefit. |
?
"If I planned to tell her that I would just let you
be my messenger,"Damon snapped tightly.
?
The emotions were returning and he hated it. He
understood why he'd flipped his switch...hadn't expected her to wake and the
loss of his brother was...inconvenient to feel to put it lightly.?
Everything he'd ever done to him...hurt and twisted like a knife to the
soul.? He'd been such a shit to his little brother...who'd done nothing but
try to be a decent person in spite of that and escape still felt sweet if he
thought on it for too long.? But it wasn't Elena's fault and she shouldn't
have to suffer the consequence of his tragedies...Just a life time of them and
he was tired.
?
His eyes were dull and lifeless yet defeated as he
tried to glare at the girl he'd once considered his best friend, but no longer
seemed to give a damn about him either...another thing that was clearly his
fault.
"I got her into this...I'll get her out so let's
go."
