A Night On The Town (Akasha/etc)

Akasha’s time had been spent exploring the small town learning all that she could since parting ways with the young vampire she’d met in the woods the previous night. It was a different world than one she’d ‘补飞补办别苍别诲’ to years ago though not to the point of being all that shocking. The humans had made certain advances that she supposed could prove useful.?

?

Of course, a certain amount of time had also been devoted to exploring the differences within herself as well. Her abilities were different which wasn’t entirely a bad thing as it gave her a certain degree of separation from her time spent as the puppet of something much older than her. It was almost freeing. But then the anger was still there bubbling just beneath the surface.

?

Her gaze slowly settled on a couple walking hand in hand with smiles on their faces as they talked and laughed. It was something that a part of her wanted for herself even if she might never say so.?

?
He hadn't expected to hunt her down, but he'd sensed her presence while hunting and...and he couldn't allow IT to happen again.? He had done his part by sitting back weakly and he could only do the same again by taking action...for the right reasons rather than sitting back for the wrong ones.? For a moment he simply watched her watching the couple. The look on her face at the end made his blood run colder than usual.
?
?
?
"No," he said, moving at the vampiric speed of light to reach her side in an instant, one strong hand reaching out to catch her wrist in an iron group.
"For the first time and not the last I am saying No!? You will not cause more suffering because of your own personal issues, Akasha."
He spoke quietly, but firm determination filled his voice.? It matched the look on his face, not angry, but implacable.

Akasha was startled a bit at first by the sudden appearance of her husband who seemed intent on stopping her from some threat. Both anger and pain flashed inside her brown eyes as she met his gaze. Of course, he’d come to the rescue of strangers! Where was this concern for her when that entity had used her as its puppet?

?

She moved to snatch her wrist free from his grip. “My own...’personal issues’?” Keeping the emotion from her voice was difficult as she couldn’t help but to feel angry towards him for the sheer fact he’d not lifted a finger to save her back then but would move to protect perfect strangers from her. “Is that what we’re calling being trapped inside of my own body unable to do anything but watch as that...thing took over my life? And you, my husband, did NOTHING!”

?
Enkil's eyes narrowed.
"That thing? If you mean the spirit that made us become vampires when merging with you, do not blame it for your later actions.? I am the same, and I am myself.? As I recall you killed me. Do you recall the same, dear wife?"
His tone was hard, implacable, yet still calm and not as angry as the accusation may warrant.
Living as long as he had, regaining life, it served to boggle the mind as well as to take the edge off. And this world with all it's shocking advancements made it difficult to hold onto much anger.

Akasha’s eyes narrowed as she stared back at her husband in anger. “No. THAT is not the ‘迟丑颈苍驳’ of which I speak. I am referring to the black cloud of smoke that forced itself down my throat then took complete control over my body not all that long after we became vampires. But you didn’t even notice there was anything different about me.”

?

She struggled against the impulse to do something that she couldn’t take back even though in her anger she wanted to lash out...she wanted to hurt him. “I never claim to be a saint but I was never so much of a monster that I would order those actions carried out against those twins, and you, my dear husband should have known that.”

?

His death was one she’d mourned as best she could while trapped inside her own body in spite of her anger towards him. “What can I say...except that even with all the little clues of someone else being in control you’d rather see me as a monster than admit you did nothing to save your own wife.”

?
"You changed...we both did in different ways...I believed it was the blood lust...the vampirism that forced those changes."
?
Enkil paused, turning to peer hard at his queen.
"You are now telling me that something else happened?? Because if this is true and if this means that you did not indeed willfully take my life...that would be soothing to know.? I want to believe you...If you explain I will listen."
Should be be sorry, though?? Would she expect him to?? When they were only recently vampires as she admitted when these changes took place, so how was he to know they weren't a result of that.? He's still stood by her, even then, believed in her wisdom, trusted her and now felt the fool.? He hadn't enjoyed what was done, but had trusted in her and now she was angry and expecting him to know? The turmoil of feelings all of this had stirring around within him made it difficult to think.
