Locked Town Square (Matt/Nyssa/etc)

Nyssa flashed a friendly smile as the sheriff joined her on the bench as she saw no reason to be openly hostile or anything. ¡°I would imagine that such a lovely town sees its fair share of ¡®new faces¡¯.¡± She bit her tongue to avoid adding ¡®or old ones¡¯ as she was just a bit curious whether Katherine or any of the others had returned considering each had their version of unfinished business with this town be it a loved one or desire for revenge.
?
¡°That is very true. I have seen a few of those programs on television that often start with how no one ever thought such a horrible thing could happen in such a quiet little town. Though to be fair it's generally the husband when some poor unsuspecting young bother is murdered.¡± It was how just about all of those investigation discovery channel shows ended.
?
¡°The peace and quiet. Big cities are far too noisy and unsafe.¡± Not that the ferryman¡¯s daughter was all that concerned with death being that much like her father it was highly unlikely anyone had the means of killing her. ¡°Ah, yes¡I think I remember someone telling me how the founders day celebrations were not to be missed.¡±
?
She carefully scooted to the bench¡¯s edge preparing to stand whenever the little tour was to commence though giving no indication of being on edge or being up to anything. ¡°I enjoy a good celebration every now and then but I am not what one would call a¡party animal so I am quite alright with that.¡±

Matt smiled and said ¡°true we do get new face every now and then.??Mostly people passing through briefly.??Though we have a special boarding school that open a few years back that brought some more people here.??Our little town is growing with the times.¡± He smiled politely.??Though he was curious if bring up the school might trigger a tell.??If she was hear for any of the students. He have to let Caroline know.

?

Matt listened to her talk about tv programs about crime in small towns.??He said ¡°I have seen some pretty bad crimes.??Though its mostly college kids getting drunk or stuff like that. since I been sheriff crimes been down pretty good. so you want have to worry.¡±??He stood and looked around.

?

He said ¡°I probably can sit here and bore ya to death.??Though I do believe I did promise you a small tour.¡± He looked at his phone briefly to see if Rayna??text him. He said putting his phone up. ¡°ah yes the founders day celebration is one of many events that we have in this square.??It a beautiful event.??Perhaps you will still be here for the next I hope. As for the tour it want take long.??Most everything is in the area of the town square. Perhaps if your hungry I can take you to the mystic falls grill..??you want have to worry about partying to hard.??unless you are into the college parties.??I usually have to break them up pretty regularly.¡±

¡°Oh?¡± Nyssa was mildly curious at the mention of it which made her wonder what was so ¡®special¡¯ about this boarding school he¡¯d brought up. Of course, it might be one bit of information the good sheriff wasn't inclined to share with a stranger. But she figured it couldn't hurt to ask if for no other reason than making simple conversation.

¡°Oh yes, I almost forgot there was a college nearby. Whitmore, is it?¡± She'd overheard two women talking about their children attending college there since it was close enough they were able to come home on weekends. The thought of enrolling there herself had been tempting mostly as a means of connecting with the modern world and learning all she could about ¡®pop culture¡¯.

¡°I find it all interesting so no worries about boring me.¡± She responded with a friendly smile, taking notice of the two women exiting a sleek black luxury sedan both of whom she was familiar with though for entirely different reasons. ¡°I have grown rather fond of this town during my short time of calling it home so there's an excellent chance I¡¯ll be here for it.¡±

She glanced towards the building in question then back again. ¡°A bite to eat might not be the worst idea.¡± Her attention having been somewhat divided as it was her first time being around one who she'd restored to life. Admittedly her acceptance of the suggestion had more to do with the ability to observe the redhead.

Matt listened as she spoke standing to??start leading her to the mysic falls grill.??He kept listening trying to figure this woman out.??he couldn¡¯t tell if she was hiding something or not.??he smiled and said ¡°oh yes Whitmore is the local college.??It¡¯s a good school.??I had a few friend who attended. If your thinking of enrolling I go for it.??like I said it¡¯s a good school.¡± He laughed lightly and said ¡° I appreciate it that you don¡¯t find me boring. its rather a relif to hear someone say that im not boring.??I swear sometimes I will be talking to some of these college people and they look at me with a blank stare.??Though half the time they are drunk or stoned so kinda hard to tell.¡±

?

Matt lead her as they continued to talk to the mystic grill looking back briefly to check on katrina. He knew they would meet up later with rayna.??He returned his gaze to his guest.??He said ¡°well im happy to hear you be staying a while.??You will enjoy what this town has to offer. As for the mystic falls grill.??Probably the best food in town. In my younger days I used to work here.¡±

Nyssa quietly debated whether to reveal any details that might point him toward who she was. Most kids these days seemed too wrapped up in their Facebook and instagram to know the first thing about Greek mythology. But she had to remind herself that by mortal standards this man wasn't a child and with his connections to those she'd resurrected he might be familiar with things others weren't.

¡°I have always had a natural curiosity about things so I might have to keep that college in mind.¡± It would certainly help further her knowledge of this day and age and that couldn't hurt. She smiled when he talked about the blank stares he was met with when talking to college people. ¡°Perhaps they only understand words that follow a¡hashtag.¡± It had taken a moment to remember the word.

She walked alongside of him toward the Mystic Grille. ¡°It's so much nicer than where I was before.¡± The words stirring memories of a dimension ruled by someone who called himself Cade, most were quick to call it Hell and perhaps in some fashion it was a great deal like it but she knew it wasn't it.?

Matt smiled and said ¡°well its cool to have a natural curiosity for things.??So going to the school you could learn a lot of interesting facts.¡±he laughed when she mention the kids only understanding hashtags. He said ¡°very true.??Everything it either hashtag this or youtube that.??One time I had a kid filming me arrest them so they could get views on there youtube.¡±

?

He listened as she spoke about Mystic falls beign so much nicer than where she previous lived.??He was curious to know where that was.??He said as they arrived at the mystic grill. ¡°well im glad you find Mystic Falls nice.??What was it like back where you lived.¡±??He watched her seeing something was on her mind. Unaware of her remembering the Hell she used to be in.
