Negative feedback tends to dampen variations, while positive feedback enhances them.? I’m sure everyone is familiar with the loud squeal from positive feedback that one gets when one brings a microphone too close to a loud speaker that is reproducing the signal going into the microphone – well that is the result of positive feedback.? Positive feedback also increases the vibration one sees while turning unsupported work pieces in your lathe (contributing to a poor finish).? Wrapping the workpiece with something like lead provides negative feedback and reduces or dampens the vibrations.? ???? ?
