Premium Group renewal fee is due this month

I've got $116 left of the contributions donated last year, but cannot afford to cover the rest of the $220 they want. They have a method to accept donations through an organization called Stripe. GIO charges a 2% premium to use that service, and Stripe charges an unknown amount to make a donation via there service. The examples on their website seem to be a bit over 10%, which I feel is highway robbery! I can accept donations through Paypal, and if you make them using the Friends and Family option, there is no charge. Since we're not a business, that should be fine. I need a total of $84 in donations to cover the fee. I'm kicking in $20 myself, and if twenty people can donate $4.20, that will cover the amount I'm short. I would prefer not to get donations over the amount we need, as I'm in my late 60's, and I wouldn't want to die and possibly lose the extra money for the group.?

If you care to make a donation, send it to wmrmeyers (AT) sbcglobal (DOT) net? My understanding is that if you put a note on it, they consider a business transaction, and charge their premium. Think that's 4%. Just post a note on the in this thread that you've contributed if you feel like it. The renewal is paid by credit card, so the group won't get shut down if I don't get the money before the renewal date, which is December 22nd. I know that a lot of folks are a little tight in the wallet right now. It won't hurt me if some of the contributions come in after the first of the year. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year even if you don't celebrate those holidays!?

Ladies and Gentlemen, I've already got sufficient funds to cover the cost, and a bit besides, so we're good to go for? the year! If you didn't get to donate, you'll just have to be faster on the draw next year!

Just sen $5.? Keep it for next year.

I was trying to avoid having to save some for next year. Had an auto accident last week that reminded me that no matter how young or old you are, tomorrow is not guaranteed. Luckily, though my newish (April this year) car was totaled, neither my wife nor I were seriously injured. Bumps, bruises, and abrasions are all she got, and she was on the impact side, just in front of the damaged area. I've got a couple of bruises, and a sore neck and shoulder. I was driving, made a left turn with the light, which changed to yellow as I entered the intersection. Young guy who hit me was also driving a new car, and swore I ran the red light. Unfortunately for him, I had a dash cam that shows otherwise, though I couldn't show the video to the cop on the scene, so I got ticketed. Both insurance companies have gotten copies of the video, as has the cop. I'll be talking to the court after my insurance pays off, which should be sometime next week.

Now I have to figure a way to get something my wife can ride in. She has a very hard time getting in and out of my old Chevy truck. Better gas mileage would be nice, too. The truck gets 15mpg or so on? a good day. My poor little Accent was averaging 40mpg. And She has decided that she really wants the safety features of the newer cars. She is convince the side curtain and seat-side air bags kept her from getting hurt worse.?

Other than that, all is good! And thank you for donating!

I didn't even know yahoo groups was still a thing. I always thought it was a lousy format. Save your money and get on Garage Journal, or one of many other great forums. Just being honest.

Yahoo Groups is not a thing, but 开云体育 is. We've been here, what, two years or so now? And the reason for being here still more or less in the Yahoo format is that we have a great deal of useful info that was worth saving. AFAIAC, this IS a great forum, or I wouldn't be here. YMMV, of course!

A number of reasons. First and foremost, have you tried to find old info in Facebook? Second, and really the most important IMO, FB changes their security policies way to frequently, and is so insecure it's a joke. There are quite a few people, myself included, who simply will not be on FB.?

I bailed on FB when I found out just how much of my personal info was
"shared" with those who had no business knowing . Was only there for a
very short time .

I didn't think about this aspect but you're absolutely correct. This is a good reason to keep stay with 开云体育.

I will say, I'm not at all concerned about FB security and navigating FB is much easier than Groups.IO. I've belonged to the Logan Lathe group for a long time so I've learned how to use many features but it's still awkward and not intuitive.?

Posting links and pictures is a prime example. If you paste a picture into a comment only some will see it.?

I'm okay with this format now but for people new to the group it can be challenging!

You use free group it has a fill and photo section smaller but free.

Like this one just change the name
/g/Electroplating/topics.

Dave?

Problem with new free groups is you can have a maximum of 100 members, IIRC. Over that, the group has a per-person charge per month and you have to go to a Premium group. I own a couple of free groups that were established before that rule change, so have more than 100 members, but new groups are more limited, IMO. My 3D printing group currently has 202 members, and is still free. You couldn't start a group like that and exceed 100 members now, but the older groups are grandfathered.

/static/pricing?

We had too many files and photos that I and others thought were worth preserving to go with the free group, and didn't get transferred from Yahoo in time to avoid the first price bump. 开云体育 had to massively upgrade their server farm to manage the rush when Yahoo notified everyone that they were dumping Yahoo Groups. Naturally, any business that wants to stay in business has to pass their increased costs on to the customers if they want to stay in business.?

If I were rich and famous, I'd establish an Enterprise group, and move all my groups to it. I'm retired now, and to do something like that I'd have to win big on the Lottery. Seems unlikely, since I don't buy lottery tickets. ;)

So far as I can tell, this is the best we can do unless we want to set up our own server.?
