Grizzly G9742 Bandsaw
Paul Maples
Hello Gang, I am new to this forum. I just purchased a Grizzly G9742 4" x 6"
Metal-Cutting Bandsaw with Swivel Head. Just got it setup and have not used it yet. I was wondering if any of you folks had any suggestions for me before I power this thing up and start using it. Thanks. Paul Maples 115 Hefner Street Searcy, Arkansas 72143 Home Tel: (501) 279-0566 Cell Tel: (501) 230-8229 pmaples@... |

I bought the same saw about 6 weeks ago. I like it a lot. A few comments: 1) It will easily function in vertical mode if you unscrew the pin that attached the saw to the downfeed piston. 2) Get a bimetal blade as soon as you can; the stock blade is pretty poor. Take your time and go through the saw to make everything square. I ended up enlarging one of the mounting holes for the jaw on the vise, as the vise wasn't closing square. There are many small adjustments you can make, so just take your time and use a good square or dial indicator. Overall, I think it's a pretty good saw and am very happy to finally have a metal cutting band saw in my garage. Jeff On 2/2/04 7:27 PM, "Paul Maples" <pmaples@...> wrote:

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýThanks Catboat. Any suggestions on where to get a better vise
or how to make one. I had to do some grinding on the leadscrew nut of this one
before it would work right, it had a casting bard left on it that was
interfering with it working right. Didn't take long just had to be
done.
